Many of us are infatuated with the idea of studying, rather than the actual act of studying itself.
Actually when you study and get issued completely new topics that weren't learned in lecture...that's the issue.

It's HARD to get past that
I'm a magpie and I have depression, so I really struggle with follow through. One thing I do when my enthusiasm is high is to block out realistic times in my schedule when I can work on the new interest. E.g. I make 1hr blocks in the twice a week, when I know I have quiet time to study. That way, there is consistency built in going forward, even when my inital excitement wanes.

The love for Naruto Tina has.. it's starting to impact me, just the fact that I missed all of the lessons Naruto has to offer.. I can't believe it.. From the start of the video, I could relate a lot with the Magpie archetype, but then there's moments where I found myself being Anti-Rock Lee. So I just watched this video in addition to another video about a guy who's motivating people to learn mathematics from the ground up and be good at it. The guy is an MIT grad, got an insane Wall Street internship at the age of 18, and is creating his own start up which he pitched to Harvard Business School.
Tina is a youtuber who used to work at Meta and is now starting her business.
In both of these cases I feel like I'm being sold that anyone can be exceptional which I just...don't feel like that's the case. Yes there's gonna be a bit of self loathing because of my mental health and upbringing. It's just that whenever these clearly exceptional individuals tell me that I can be like them I just don't believe it all.

Very intresting thing to find out about magpie, I'd personally say I'm not one but with the life I've had and still have I do find it really hard to start/keep on track with doing what I need to do because usually minds do want the keep you in the comfort zones and not push, but yes I wouldn't deny liking and being interested in plenty of things so the "ask yourself why you want to learn this" is a good reminder to kind of slow down myself with things
The Dip is a book I heard of for the first time so definitely have to look it up

Thank you Tina for including Rock Lee's example, he's the definition of Hard work. He showed us that Hard work can beat talent if you really give it your all. Instead of wasting our time watching videos on how to study we should actually study, we're just attached to the idea of studying but not studying itself (a reminder to myself). I am a magpie and totally purchased like 5 Udemy courses at once during a sale. However, I also actually follow through. To date, I have over 30 courses in my Udemy library and finished all but 2 (that I never started) because I switched focus after deciding to optimize my time and efficiency.

As a follow-up, if I could start over, I'd definitely take much fewer courses and redirect the time to do more real-world projects. Knowledge is great, but it alone doesn't get ish done.

I am a magpie through and through😂The solution is to contain your energy and use it in a focused way everyday for a limited amount of time. don't get obsessed and spend every waking hour into that one thing you are currently excited about for days, quick way to lose interest.
This doesn't apply to solopreneur who make a living by writing high quality articles on several broad topics and want to publish them fast. I imagine this flaw of magpies is like a superpower in that case.

I got lonely octopus it describes me too well. I don't ask for help even when i want to i shy out i hope the other person will see and help. i believe ill cry out of embarrassment of being judged or dumb. I'm mostly afraid of being annoying by asking too many questions or by crying so i just dont understand at all

Hi Tina, I have just come across with your channel tonight. As a var very senior progammer (+35) year in all fields you can imagine from academics to SAP. íi decided to get back at the age of 58 to join a Dapp projcect. Nothing much changed in the underlying theories, but I relulctant to join a teeam to does a bits a projects (I like socialisizing I just got extra bored with subjects that are not relevant to me). This is your first chanel that showed me in an entertainging way that who easily I dan expand my virtual team to a a frontend expert, a blockchains guru, a Node.js expert and so on. Earier this gusys should have sit in a badly wentiladed room and come up sith asoultion. Ths evening I could put together a project plan, the suitabl setps to acheieve this and most imroprtantly, I could generate a code in JS, Solidity, Jqueery, Java, Node.js that can be easily plugged together. So no need for 1+X programming experts for the projects. Thanks Tina for this great experience!!

Great video but you’re confusing Chamber of Secrets with Socerer’s Stone… Devil’s Snare was definitely under the trap door and the multiple rooms was Socerer’s Stone in general… Chambers of Secrets was simpler… some of the structure of the entrance under Myrtle’s bathroom blocked the way forward because of Lockhart’s errant “Obliviate” spell that left Ron with Lockhart, Lockhart with permanent amnesia, and Harry the only one able to move forward…
There weren’t tests keeping Harry from the main chamber though. He essentially just kept moving forward until he got to Ginny and then the ensuing fight with the basilisk began.
What are your advice on tackling projects? I never really done any projects.
I'm magpie, I bought about 20 python and js courses on udemy, but I couldn't follow even one well and I lost interest, thinking that I'm not very good, intelligent or that it's not for me. Now I have decided to follow only two of these and instead of seeing 10 videos in a row, I watch one or two, a few half an hour of coding (if I have bugs there can even be two), but I avoid the risk of giving up everything or losing the 'interest. Yes, it will take me longer to study, but a video every day is better than doing nothing. After less than two months I got to the functions and scope (loops and while loops done).

Tina successfully combining Data Science and Naruto
I'm a big magpie because I chose electrical engineering due to the obsession of becoming a inventor( like the second Nicolas tesla ) or a tech billionare like elon musk. When I graduated I developed the interest of getting into AI, data science and mechine learning and took online online courses that I'm currently taking. Now I'm looking into learning learning robotics and take another course of robotics after I finish the AI Course. Do you think I'm doing the right thing?
I gave the test and found that I am a magpie but I don't agree. Rather, I am a magpie, who was an a+ student then got stuck and thought being lonely octopus is the best option and now things are going sh *t. So yeah, that's me!

5:00 no, Ginny had a crush on Harry. Harry didn't look at Ginny as a potential romantic partner until his 6th year. Also, the multiple challenges are from the first year. The chamber of secrets had only one entrance (although it was well-designed, only allowing a Parseltongue to open it), albeit located at a very unusual location (in a girls' bathroom).
