At age 68 I have just started sim racing using a PC on ACC . A 71 year old driver has highly recommended your videos to help me become faster. I have subscribed and am sure your videos will help me a great deal. Thanks and best wishes Brian.
Great video for someone like me who has never done a LFM race, but looking into it. Your comment about having to change side on the warm-up before start. It happens when someone ahead of you in qualy dont press drive and be on grid for start. Game puts you in "correct" place according to qualy and then figures out after rolling, that you need to be on the other side because of the missing car.
Just pay attention to this (quote from the LFM FAQ) so you dont loose SR after the race ;-) "The safety rating calculation is active during the entire race session. In the race, the formation lap as well as the run-out lap after crossing the finish line also count. So, especially during the latter, avoid collecting unnecessary incident points due to easily avoidable touches! No incident points can be collected during the practice and qualifying sessions."
You want to wait till like 10 seconds to get to the grid. cuz the longer you sit there the colder your tires will get. so if you leave the pit and immediately start driving your tires will be warmer. But if the timer runs under 5 seconds and you don't click Drive there's a big chance if you getting kicked to the pits.
Would definitely like to see a video on how to set up the overlay. This video was really helpful on getting entered into races. I got my license about a month ago but wasn’t sure on how to join races Edit: Is there a thing with LFM or any other group that has daily races where the track changes daily? I remember seeing there used to be the sim grid that had daily races on the hour but I guess that doesn’t exist anymore
This is a good course and I learn things. However, what I am missing is the very basics. What do the different flags mean? When should I enter the pit? What happens if I miss the pit window? Why am I supposed to let cars behind me pass? Why do some races start at the pit and some lined up on the track? When lined up on the track they tell me to stay in my file. For how long should I do this? How can I know what parts of the track is legal to drive on? Sometimes when I drive off track, I get a warning something like "no time gained". What does that mean? I haven't really found anyone explaining the very basics. In most guides they seemingly assume I know the rules.
Hey Dan! Great set of videos! Thank you for the introduction and indeed, LFM revived my interest in ACC as well :). I'm using fri3d0lf's setups and I can't complain, his setups are great, I wanted to ask you how you get Niklas setups? I tried looking on his discord but did not find anything useful. Love your setup, but the wheel is waaaaay out of my budget :)
Amazing guide Dan thanks! Im about to get into acc! Please, Im not sure on the 'open quali' conduct rule about the last 3rd pf the tracl to not overtake? Do you mean the last part pf the track when the quali is about to finish? 👍
Nice Series Dan. I was getting hyped for LFM especially now that they are in partnership with the Sim Grid. However I think that now means the Sim Grid dailies are no more which use to be over three region servers : Euro, North America and Asia. Now that it is just LFM and me being in Asia, not sure I can join due to ping issues.
I had the same thing. Make sure the broadcasting.json settings are identical to the Connection Settings (in racelab settings). This is not explained in the explanation in the support section. Hope you can get it working
Great video series Dan, I also laugh whenever you take a shot at Max, his fans and his atrocious driving standards. I'll have to try ACC again and see how LFM works out, if I can make the cut!
Great video Dan. I will be having my first race tomorrow. tried on x2 occasions previously but had to pull out due to r/l. I am already a GSI rider and love my FPE. I'll need to put in a few more hours of o/t for the GT Max as does look sexy as hell. Tell me, is there a way to change the race start time clock to 24h! There must be one as I have an am/pm 1-12 look which has been confusing the heck out of me; cause I was sure it wasn't like this when I signed up first.
Just a noob question I only have a gamepad and I want to get fun on ACC, can I still play it offline like this "LFM" mod or it is only multiplayer? I mean these cars and settings are part of LFM or its ACC already like this? Thanks man
It's been a couple years since I've raced. Trying to get into LFM is toughhhhhh man. I'm wildly rusty and about a second off their max pace. Lol. Grinding!
@Travis 🅱️ickle Lol i quickly learned that when I was pushing to achieve their minimum time. Then I had to maintain that minimum time over the course of 7 laps? Not for me yet buddy. Also, I realize their eastern time zone races in the evenings are pretty dead. So I may need to stick to league races or iRacing during the week.
I'd love to join, but I'm clearly way too slow, don't think I'd be able to qualify per you first video of this series. Would you happen to know whether there might be plans in future to cater for a wider/slower audience?
Hello Michael, there are no plans to reduce the requirements of the license run. You may just need a bit of practice. Some other drivers had the same "problem" thinking of being to slow but they managed to get it after some practice :) It can help to watch some track guides and your own replay and to check what you did differnt etc. Most important is the driving line and the braking point. Also remember: Dont go to fast into corners - "slow in" & fast out > focus on the exit of the corners
I always get so excited to back to ACC from iRacing when I see stuff like this. Then I check the races for evening on the east coast here in the US and see 2-3 people registered. Sadface.
@@Nymblys I expect to see you in the lobbies in the evening then :-). Just did my first online race in acc in over a month and forgot how fun it is. iRacing is great but the driving experience in acc just feels better.
This lfm thing is a cool concept. But legit even the chaotic public lobbies are safer than the rookie lobbies in lfm. People have zero awereness. You can't race anyone. Only way to survive is drive alone in the front, or in the back. Even qualifying is impossible, people just troll and ruin your lap intentionally.
When you race, you're divided into splits. Top split (split 1) are the high ELO ranked racers, bottom split are the lowered ELO ranked racers. This keeps the race on a "balanced" level
Uhh perfect game of todays standard would be ACC graphics/physics/sounds and Iracings everything else :) BTW I have had a Tesla Model S for 3 years or so and it drives really nice but when you go to the shop it is really expensive. And over time you will miss the engine sounds and the gears funny enough.

Excellent all-round guide, nicely edited so it is not boring for any minute. Thanks a lot!

Thanks! I just passed my Rookie license (after a couple of weeks practice, a complete novice here) Not done any simracing since Grand Prix Legends..

Fantástica essa séria de 3 vídeos que você fez, muito completa e me animou muito a entrar para a LFM. Obrigado!

I finish somethings for the next couple months, but im so looking forward to it

@@wintertorrent Not really. Mostly played Dirt since then.

Maybe you should have pitted the last lap and let real rookie win behind you? My 2 cents
Yes! Please make a video on installing and setting up the on screen widgets.
Good series Dan to help newcomers jump in 🤙🏼
thank you very much for this video ed snowden!
Great series Dan, thanks for all the info! I think I am gonna set up an account this weekend!!
I'd love to see a guide on how you setup your widgets and overlays

I’ve heard that u can’t drive the Lamborghini gt3 evo 2019 on LFM. Is that true?
Kommt da noch ein Video zu deinen Overlays? Hattest du letztens mal im Stream gesagt.
Do you need extra dlc's to for example race on dlc tracks with lfm or not?

What are the limitations on the setup? I am a quadriplegic and I only use automatic transmission. Is that possible?
What am I doing wrong I've got my rookie license but can't figure out how to sign up and join a rookie race
What brand gloves are you using ?
Wie bekommt man seine Lackierung ins LFM ? Kannst Du darüber auch noch ein kurzes Video erstellen? Danke.
Is there a Option to play with your friends, in a Normal 45 min race not in a Team race ?
For a complete beginner this or F1 (have wheel)?

Why do you use Triples without Surround?
Is that pc only or can you join on xbox
What are these gloves?
Is there any alternative for xbox players ?
Free practice is so short only to allow people time to join the server. No driving allowed!
