      @Eheroduelist 6 років тому +87

      Nu Youkai then why create legislation that targets law-abiding citizens instead of pressuring agencies to use the laws currently in effect to actually prevent things like the Parkland shooting?
      Ironically it’s the local sheriff’s department that had run-ins the shooter many, many times- never booked the kid once.
      None of the legal systems put in place to prevent him from getting the firearms he used were used.
      The solution? More useless laws and legal institutions to infringe the rights of law-abiding citizens! 🤔
      🙄
      Read the fucking laws they want and compare them to currently existing ones- Fully automatic weapons are already illegal and bump stocks can be replaced equally as well with a belt, but because one dipshit paid for a shitton to use during a different shooting they’re the easy target for crapivists looking to feel good instead of helping make the situation actually better.

      rip cameron boyce do you even know why guns were made legal in the first place? It’s so that we can fight back against crime and also the government if they try to seize our freedom. Do you want the US to end up like North Korea? And also, look at the backstories of these shooters. If we do ban guns, all of the good people are going to give their guns up, but the bad people will still keep them. This will also popularize fully automatic weapons illegally. If the shooter can’t get a gun at a store, he’s going to get one on the black market. Then the shooter is going to see fully automatic weapons right beside the semi-auto guns, ther for he/she will probably purchase the fully automatic weapon, therefore resulting in more crime, violence, and deaths per shooting.

The psych evaluation doesn't need to be extensive, maybe an interview without the parents in the room and if there is some concern the doctor can refer them to a child psychologist for further evaluation. A child psychologist has specific training on dealing with children and it is not nearly as intense as you think it is. They don't interrogate children, most of the time they will have the child play with toys or draw as they ask them general questions and simply ask them to elaborate without planting "false memories" into the child's head. This is especially effective because alot of future mental illnesses are caused by childhood trauma so a doctor could even see if a child is being abused at home. There is no negative effect on children from this, it will only help them and could even help catch child abusers.

      Yeah I was thinking that I was the only one who noticed that until I got your comment. This is the kind of misinformation and incorrect words that are used that make people ignorant about guns and gun control. The only thing that makes an AR more dangerous than a handgun is the amount of bullets the magazine holds. People get so hung up on the words "assault" and "AR-15" that they come at this situation with completely wrong ideas of what makes the world a safer place. Taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens only gives people that will do heinous acts like this a leg up knowing that no one else has a gun...Also I think a big problem is the reason this kid was able to get into the school in the first place. We have to amp up the security at schools --- major fail on the part of the SRO's and other security officials at the school.

    I was watching a dad who was a victim of Newtown/Sandy Hook Elementary. His little boy was murdered. The reason I bring this up is....
    He made an Extremely great point. He said he doesn't use the words/phrase "gun control". Instead, he uses something else like, gun regulation, if I remember correctly. I thought it was a genius idea. He said that.. When people use the words "gun control" that it has an immediate negative association to it. When people hear the phrase "gun control" , they think that people are lobbying to have guns taken away completely. Normally that's not the case at all. AND!!! If you actually talk to responsible gun owners... They're usually for raising the age for AR purchases. Even the waiting day period. I believe you have to be 21 to purchase a hand gun.. 18 to purchase an AR. I'm assuming other riffles as well. So why not just raise the age for AR's?
    Those things should NOT be an issue. After everything we've seen over the last decade alone... These 2 things should have already been put into place... At Least. The got rid of the Tommy Guns because they were so dangerous. Obviously we're having a huge issue with older teens being able to purchase and use these AR's. So where's the disconnect here?
    One last thing. We need to have more conversations about this. Like... Adult conversation. Instead of waiting to talk about this the next time it happens.

    I saw a leaked video on UA-cam...there was a student with a green jacket and black trousers laying on the floor covered in blood. If anyone else has seen that clip, do you know who it was? I was thinking it could be Alyssa but her mum said she was wearing a black & white dress so it wasn’t her.
    America...seriously? 18 year olds can’t buy beer or alcohol but they can buy an AR-15 and shoot up a school?
    The AR-15 was Alaina Petty’s favourite gun. I’m sure she never thought she’d get killed with one...

Every other country in the world have gun laws that regulate weapons possession and no country has the same shooting rate than America, but every country has mental instable people I assume, so why don't take a step forward and start to take care of people instead of guns?

      No no no, I'm not attacking you or anybody, so calm down. First of all, America has the 4,4% of the population globally but the 42% of weapons (I'm talking just about civilians), the second Amendment was written in 1791, when the most used weapon was che musket which shoots about 2-3 shots per minute, while semiautomatic rifles nowadays can shoot 100 shots per minute. Then, there aren't background checks, anyone that has never been in jail or who takes drugs can't buy a gun, but there isn't any kind of psychiatric test for every other person like me or like you, it isn't enough to just look at criminal or health records. All of these are not my opinions, but facts, so I don't understand why we can't go forward and make changes that protects people and still allow people who are eligible to have gun.

This could have been my school. But there hasn't been change. It's so sad that we've gotten to the point of prioritizing school shooter drills in case there is one on campus over tornado drills. Why did we ever have to get to this point? It's not right. We should never have to worry about that being a possibility.

      Bullying plays a really big part in school shootings. There’s a Federal law on the books called the Gun-free School Zone Act 1990 that was sponsored by then-Senator Joe Biden. In the twenty-eight years since it was signed into law, at least 90% of all shootings have occurred in a gun-free zone. Schools are really ideal targets for massacres because, you have mass bodies of students and faculty in a ridiculously confined space, and on top of that, the victims have nowhere to run nor does it click in their minds that they should fight back.
      At my old high school, we had two lockdown drills to test emergency procedures during an active shooter situation, then one day out of the blue, the real thing happened but it turned out to be some drugged or drunk and delirious crazy person running around half naked with a shotgun. This person had gotten close but never stepped onto campus. When he got arrested and we got the all clear, I was situated right next to the classroom door and I told everyone in that room that if the kook had gotten in, he would’ve still been fumbling for his shotgun after getting through the door and, I was in a prime position to tackle and disarm him.

And I disagree, guns are nothing like cars, so I think that comparison is pretty stupid. We did we invent guns? To kill. We did not invent cars to kill. And, yes, I do leave the occational youtube comment or tweet on the subject, because I find it mindblowing that the US goverment keep looking the other way. The US has mass shootings almost daily. My country hasn't had a single one, like, ever.

    • @fridal5218
      @fridal5218 6 років тому

      westmichile88 Yet mass shootings, and school shootings, keep happening. So the current laws don't cut it, yet we see no reform.
      And if nobody has guns (or at least nobody who shouldn't have them), then nobody needs to defend themselves with a gun. Nobody here is saying that they need a gun for self defense, because gun violence isn't an issue for regular civilians, the odds of you having someone pointing a gun at you here is almost not-existant. Not saying this is the ultimate solution for the US, but that's the situation here.

    Here's my POV as a teenager. How come it's always the kids that are always alone , always bullied that do this. Marching and walking out of school isn't gonna change anything there will always be another shooting. You know why? Because people don't go out of there way to talk to those kids that eat lunch by themselves,are being picked on, and isolated from everyone else if you want to do real change why not talk to that lonely kid. Any teenager can grab their fathers rifle and go and do this again all this boils down to is Mental illness

      @ResiWorld To answer to your question, a gun is meant to protect you and your family, and in case of an oppressive government to start a legal and just revolution. When America was in the form of the 13 colonies guns were hard to come by and made for a hard to win revolution. A gun is designed to shoot and kill, but a person decides if that is or isn't a good/right thing to do. If it isn't a good thing to do then that is a crime such as murder or manslaughter. As I said a gun isn't bad... the if the person behind it may be bad, but not the gun. (For proof read Amendment 2)
