No school shootings in uk 🇬🇧 since1996 first one none since changed our gun laws. Thank goodness our children don't have to live in fear of being murdered at school as its normal for them to live like this.
Writing from America. School shootings happen more often in the United States due to lack of gun control. When a shooting happens in another country, gun laws are IMMEDIATELY changed, become more strict. Nothing happens in the United States because the NRA has insinuated itself into politics.
Because in every other country, when a mass shooting happens, restrictions are IMMEDIATELY put in place. In the United States, the GOP would rather continue to receive monies/support from the NRA.

of course it has. So many use to excuse that they need it for protection yet the countries with gun laws dont nearly have as many shootings as America. People love their guns more than the safety of human beings.
When your own guns have killed more of your own nations people than have killed your nations enemies at war, I think that may be a benchmark figure to draw judgment from.

Hey guys, I come in peace. I'm so sorry about what you're going through. This incident hit me hard and caused me to do a ton of research about restricting firearms. There hasn't been firearms bans because all the statistics and research shows a gun ban would cause a huge problem. There are an estimated 1 billion citizen owned guns in the US. When the UK enacted a firearms ban in 1997, the homicide rate increased by 50% over 6 years... and they didn't have anywhere close to this many guns in the hands of their citizens How many kids lives are you willing to sacrifice to try to make a BILLION guns disappear from the US? Are you comfortable with a >50% increase in homicides to give it a try just to see if it goes better for the US than it did for the UK? This is absolutely not a topic we can make emotional decisions on. We need to do what will actually prevent innocent people from being killed.
If you stop selling and ban the military weapons, it’s not all guns you are banning. If your next thought is “but that’d be the start of banning all guns,” now you know what women feel after having our rights taken from us. It’s the fact that Congress cares more about the NRA, and red conservative states care much much more about the NRA and banning of books and ideas than they do about their students (or catering to the Klan and bigotry) than anything else. I was in my sophomore year of high school with Columbine, when the Florida school started making us wear ID tags so that if a school shooting did happen, they could identify the bodies. We could no longer wear long coats (it’s too hot in Florida) and a long list of silly rules that matter very little in the current situation. It has since gotten 1000% worse. Thoughts and prayers are now no longer working. Hunters don’t need to undead 17 animals in less than 5 minutes.
@@serenitypalmer490 no, my next thought was that you need to educate yourself. What are the "military weapons" you're talking about? I came up with a possible solution that might reduce the response-time... what if they implement airport-like security in schools? Wouldn't that help speed up the response time if they are already there?
Well, I’m from Italy, and here you have to be 18yo or more to be able to buy a gun. And you have to get a license that allows you to buy it and use it. For what I know in the USA you can just go to a gun shop, fill up a paper, and in 3 days you’ll have your gun. In fact, in Italy that doesn’t happen. I mean school shootings, unfortunately we have other problems. But I think that could be a solution. Surely it’s better than teaching kids how to hide better.
In the United States, you get the gun the same day. But you're required to do a background check first. You have to be 21 for pistols and 18 for rifles. Idk what changed as to why this keeps happening. We have always had a lot of guns. We need to start increasing security at schools. Kids are the most precious thing we have, and we protect every other important building with armed security. There has been legislation proposed to give funding to schools to increase security systems and hire armed security, but because of politics, it keeps getting voted down. I can't fathom how people will choose party politics over protecting children.

Only soldiers and policemen should being allowed to own, to wear and to use weapons if an upcoming argument cannot be resolved otherwise. What we need is access to the best possible education for everybody and not only for the privileged kids of wealthy families. I believe that people will change their conducts if they receive knowledges in social behavior, history, economy, foreign languages, politics, maths and the world religions of our entire world. What's the use of selling weapons to every citizen? Isn't "self defense" possible with better points during a conversation? Why are the better schools only accessible for rich kids? What's the use of it? The more people learn and understand the lower are our crime rates.
Sorry for bothering you but I live in the UK could someone let me know how I can support these students fight to stop this keep happening. I will never forget that day
The real question is "does america have a gun control problem?" To which I'd say absolutely. You ever notice the only active shooter scenario on a US military base happened where the soldiers didn't have access to firearms? An armed society is a polite one. Chicago has the stupidest and strictest gun laws in the usa yet has the highest mass shooter rate in the nation? All those shootings are by criminals who aren't supposed to have firearms anyway. "A good guy with a gun is the fastest way to stop a bad guy with a gun". The right to bear arms is being infringed with every single gun control law. If you want to live in a gun free zone then go to the UK where the knife crime violence is outrageous. Let americans freely have their guns and watch the crime rate plummet. If teachers and even students had been allowed to have firearms then parkland wouldn't have happened. Government opposed to firearms created the "safe school zone" where it was illegal to have firearms. Something criminals are thankful for because it guarantees an unarmed victim who knows to follow orders. Did you know that in the first 20 years of the 20th century there were several shootings in schools where it was in self defense and it was a student defending themselves against a teacher?
We have a knife problem here in the UK I agree. The knife deaths ( that includes any sharp object , scissors even ?) were just under 300 last year . Its not good, perhaps its 'outrageous' as you say. You're about right. What they don't tell you is that over half of those are suicides, and at least a large chunk of the rest are justified, self defense situations. In 2021, we had 26k suicides via a gun, and 21k other shootings. We also have a population of 330,000,000 citizens (not counting the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants). 21k is 0.006% of 330m. 0.006% So no, I wouldn't say we have a gun problem. Anyone who thinks we do does not use their brain. I'd like to include that carrying a gun saved the life of myself and my now 17 month old baby. To wish guns away would be to literally wish us dead. Here's the irony. There's people out there that think it's a bad idea for teachers to have guns. The shooter wrecked his car, and actually WALK to the school. Just think if there was someone with a gun to intercept the shooter. One person could have stopped all of this. But...we have people that will whine and cry when the topic of teachers carrying guns comes up.
You're thinking of the Uvalde shooting, when the shooter wrecked his truck outside and began shooting at people outside, then walked to the school and entered through a faulty security door. So yes, one person could've stopped that shooting. Whatever administrator knew about the faulty door and did not get it fixed, that person potentially cost 21 people their lives. In fact, the terribly slow police response had only a limited effect on the death toll. That doesn't make it okay, but the majority of the blame should be on the school itself.
I’m not whining/crying, but you are showing yourself to have the mind-set of a vigilante, which is not helpful, either. In every video I’ve seen related to school shootings, the mantra is “run, hide, fight.’ The last, ‘fight.’ Throwing something at the shooter would be/could be enough of a distraction to disarm.
Of course it’s a bad idea, there’s no need for anyone to be having guns in schools let alone at home…look how many people have been killed or injured due to gun crime..yes the UK has a knife crime problem but more people are being murdered by guns…why does a gun have more rights then children or men/women…
It’s also the GOP preferring to get monies/support from the NRA than passing gun restrictions, and lazy gun shop owners/dealers who can’t/won’t be bothered doing background checks.
So it can't be both? It's society, it's mental health, it's culture....everything except the guns being used and acquired for the deed. At a certain point, conservatives gotta admit that. A gun gives you the ease of which to kill. I'm a conservative, but the gun thing is pure cope.
@louistudor1086 right cause I can be mentally insane But the fact that I can access a gun and use it to kill people is the problem We need to ban AL guns
The gun problem is there are bad people who get ahold of guns and do these horrendous things without any fear that they will die that day because there are armed individuals placed in schools to keep kids safe.
@thomasmatthewharris1980 guns are intimate objects. Someone has to load a magazine with rounds, insert it,turn off the safety, charge it,and pull the trigger. Saying a gun can hurt someone is like saying a pencil can misspell a word.

Many countries have mental health issues, but no other country has as much gun violence/ mass shootings as America does. Makes you wonder where issue really lies. In this instance, what is the main difference between America and these other countries? Right, the loose gun laws.
The problem America has are activists judges and lazy prosecutors who don't do their jobs to protect the public from repeat offenders. There needs to be conditions placed on sovereign immunity where it can be withdrawn around certain cases and these prosecutors and judges can be open to lawsuits and criminal prosecution for their gross negligence.
Until Americans stop quoting the constitution things will never change. That document was relevant when it was written but needs revising. How many tragedies have to happen before people wake up. School shootings happen more often in the United States due to lack of gun control.
When a shooting happens in another country, gun laws are IMMEDIATELY changed, become more strict.
Nothing happens in the United States because the NRA has insinuated itself into politics.

When the UK enacted a firearms ban in 1997, the homicide rate increased by 50% over 6 years... and they didn't have anywhere close to this many guns in the hands of their citizens
How many kids lives are you willing to sacrifice to try to make a BILLION guns disappear from the US?
Well, I’m from Italy, and here you have to be 18yo or more to be able to buy a gun. And you have to get a license that allows you to buy it and use it.
In every video I’ve seen related to school shootings, the mantra is “run, hide, fight.’
The last, ‘fight.’

What exactly do you think should change?
The UK enacted firearm restrictions in 1997 and saw a >50% increase in their homicide rate
There are an estimated 1 billion citizen owned guns in the US. WAY more than were owned in the UK in '97.
Are you comfortable with a >50% increase in homicides of innocent people to give it a try?
How many kids lives are you willing to sacrifice to try to make a BILLION guns disappear from the US?
This is absolutely not a topic we can make emotional decisions on.
We need to do what will actually prevent innocent people from being killed.
Yes we do.
18:00 I'd love to help with anything.. I was a very involved I see you nurse working 23 years in the same place and a very busy PTA mom room mom a team mom a Girl Scout mom Etc and all that changed after covid when I had to stop working I can't walk and blah blah blah anyway if there's anything I could do for Broward County I'm here in Weston
DISARMING AN ENTIRE GROUP OF PEOPLE BECAUSE A FEW MISUSE GUNS MAKES ALMOST AS MUCH SENSE AS TAKING MOTOR VEHICLES AWAY FROM EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE CHOOSE TO DRIVE WHILE INTOXICATED!!!!
Okay 😂
Cars requires licenses clown. But many of you goons push to deregulate guns entirely, I wonder why
The mental health is never addressed.
"A few misuse guns"? FFS! Britain and America have an identical rate of knife crime. Britain has gun regulation. In 2021 in the US 21,000 people were murdered with guns and there were 26,000 gun suicides. In Britain the numbers were 35 and 100.

IF ANYONE THINKS THAT SOME LAWS CAN BE PASSED THAT WILL MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR CRIMINALS TO OBTAIN GUNS THEN THEY ARE LIVING IN ANOTHER WORLD TO SAY THE LEAST!!!!
Some "Guns" should not be for sale to the Public. But they are. Sure we know Military stuff has thefts, but really dude, can we cut it in 1/2 by the public sales????
Or another country
instead you promote it
child killers
Yeah! You can obtain an assault rifle in Finland, Japan or Germany anytime! Your Pathetic!
“Harder” is the goal here, because anybody with a functional brain knows the difference
But you just go ahead and keep on sacrificing those children for the sake of your hobby buddy. Meanwhile rational gunmen like my own ex-mil family know regulation is obviously necessary
These shootings occur, almost universally, in gun free zones.
Woah insane and thought provoking information! Truly genuis take and not at all obvious 🤯
PUTTING THE BLAME ON GUNS WHENEVER AN UNLAWFUL SHOOTING HAPPENS INSTEAD OF ON THE SHOOTER MAKES EXACTLY AS MUCH SENSE AS BLAMING FLIES FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GARBAGE!!!!

That's because the numbers show a gun ban would cause a huge problem. There are an estimated 1 billion citizen owned guns in the US.
When the UK enacted a firearms ban in 1997, the homicide rate increased by 50% over 6 years... and they didn't have anywhere close to this many guns
How many kids lives do you all want to sacrifice to try to make a BILLION guns disappear from the US?
Are you comfortable with a >50% increase in homicides to give it a try to see if it goes better for the US than the UK?
My heart breaks for them but at the same time the gun didnt jump and do this. It was one person's fault and that one alone. If they make it impossible for us who are responsible the criminals will take over. I will protect my home from ppl wanting to come into my home for nefarious reasons
No
No we dont have a gun problem! We have a government problem. People need to be able to carry for protection.
Guns kill people so yes it’s a gun problem
I know there is the constitution. But why can't an amendment be made so that cities & towns can have a vote that bans the sale or ownership of guns in their city.
Because its stupid
They already do that. The places you're talking about have their firearm homicides sky rocket every single time new gun restrictions are enacted. Baltimore. Chicago. Detroit. DC. NYC. Philadelphia.
I'm starting to think criminals don't care about the law
She’s beautiful
Of course but not only the guns
IF GUN LAWS REDUCED CRIME THEN CHICAGO WOULD BE ONE OF THE SAFEST CITIES IN THE COUNTRY BUT IT IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN THE COUNTRY!!!! THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!!!!
Okay 😂
Chicago’s guns are mostly brought in from less regulated areas outside of Chicago
Correct!
You've conveniently chosen a single city instead of looking at the countless countries across the world which have strict gun control and near zero mass shootings and dramatically lower firearm related deaths overall. Willful ignorance.
Right, Chicago has very stick gun laws….but the gang crime doesn’t care about those laws
Feel sorry for the family's. But this is rediculous

Absolutely!

Tell me why do school shootings keep happening?
The United States sends $115 billion worth of weapons to Ukraine. Does Ukraine have a gun problem?
Ummm, Ukraine is fighting the 5th largest military in the world. Who's America fighting?
Yup. Guns for leftist politicians, their inner city pets, the Taliban and Ukraine.

@@mikeluostari5196 So you're saying that guns in the hands of the good guys are OK? That's exactly what millions of law abiding Americans have been saying. It's good that you confirm that.
@@lancecahill5486 I never said it wasn't OK. I honestly have no problem with people owning guns. I don't want to see people get their guns taken away. CANT EVEN READ THAT TITLE without anger. If you want a gun for protection in your home on your person that's fine if you want to go hunting and eat it that's fine no one needs an AR especially at 18 .... I'm 15 minutes from Parkland in another quintessential neighborhood that you'd like to be raised in that doesn't mean we're immune from Guns neither is any mall movie theater bowling alley public place it's everywhere. People are going crazy. There's no healthcare we can't get medications we can't help mental health because they can't go get therapy we can't get medicines if we don't have insurance it just goes on and on. No meds?-> people can drink all they want. Go to a liquor store for 5 times a day without question, get a happy hour drink to go and then go home and deliver a box of liquor from doordash or wherever. But God forbid you need a RX from a DR 1 day EARLY- . I know it sounds off topic but think about it if people had health care and could go to doctors for what else them they wouldn't need to do drugs or drink or get so angry they'd be able to sleep they wouldn't be taking their anger and their frustration out on other people maybe they could be in therapy but you know what all of that costs money and a lot of it... we still don't have school on Valentine's Day here and I don't think we ever will
