eric had patterns of suicidal behavior... it’s not black and white. they were both very sick in the head and were not given the help needed. so sad that this could’ve been prevented.
Lisa Cornell exactly, another fact is that eric’s dad found a pipe bomb in eric’s room, his punishment was to explode it in the mountains, he also had one of his plans to blow up the cafeteria on his bedroom wall and again, the parents didn’t take notice. such a shame 💔

I was bullied at school. One day the bullying got so bad that I broke down and started crying in front of my friends telling them I wanted to go home. I wanted to leave the school and never return. Not once did I think about murdering those bullies. You have to be sick in the head to plan out a murder rampage like this

As a resident of Aurora in 8th grade, I will never, ever forget that day. All the victims suffered horribly, both the dead and the survivors.I worked with a Columbine survivor years ago, and she had recurring panic attacks and couldn’t go into crowded places. I hope she and all the other survivors and families have found a level of healing.

No, Eric recognized him from under the table and walked away. Dylan saw that dude, who was also his friend and didn't intend to shoot him whatsoever. Being friends with Dylan actually saved his life

Shooting happened back then just as much as today but the news gets more advanced and if something happens now it's on it. Columbine was just such a shock it was on the news. And now their is so much on the news it's not a surprise to us even though it still should be a shock since it still is as uncommon as it was back then.

I was born on April 19 the day before, at Lutheran. Which for those that don’t know is in wheat Ridge. My dad told me how he felt and what was going through his head, while holding new born me in the hospital,while watching the live news on the shooting. What he said still haunts me 2 years later and will forever haunt me. While he was telling me this he started to cry heavily. Out of the 23 years I have been alive, he has only told me this once.
This changed history and society. My dad knew I would have to grow up in this society. It was so haunting.
I've been bullied when I was in daycare, all throughout my school life, and even as an adult. They were (and still are) horrible people and saying their actions messed me up is putting it lightly, but I could never imagine getting back at any of them by doing something like this.
That's cause you truly have a good heart! no decent human being is capable of doing something like this horific...😥 i know what is like to be bullied for a long time, it leaves deep wounds, stay strong!❤ 💪🤗

The bigger issue is that normalizing animosity isn’t the way. We should learn to respect each other at the very least and acknowledge people’s differences: backgrounds, struggles, personalities, and whatnot. Bullying is avoidable in a society. If you ultimately don’t like someone just look the other way and don’t think/care about that person. Life’s too short to just obsessively hate on things. Smh. I wasn’t ever bullied in school especially as I got older, so I know it’s possible.

I obviously agree with you. As a mature gentleman myself from Lakemba, New South Wales, Australia. It is very important for every institutions especially our schools to have anti-bullying programs, loneliness awareness, mental illness awareness, strong security & weapon control to try to make the world a kinder safer place for our society period. I am not saying we should be paranoid what I really mean is that we should be very cautious of any boy, any girl, any man and any woman who possesses any dangerous weapons because it is a matter of time before they start going on a deadly rampage which they will end up harming & murdering innocent people. Also they will harm themselves which would lead them to commit suicide. That is why it is very important to connect with people who are struggling with any problems in their life both mentally & physically. To all my fellow human brothers and sisters around the world stay safe & always remember be genuine & take care of one another.

The fact that bullying was a main motive in this shooting shows how little effort schools put into anti-bullying programs or stopping bullying overall.
I hate when people describe them as "outcasts", "loners" or that they "didn't fit in" because it casts a stereotype that everyone who doesn't fit in poses a threat when they actually don't.

Retribution John savage was a member of their “Trench Coat Mafia” (Although he didn’t do the stuff Eric and Dylan did) and Dylan and Eric likes him so they spared his life. John savage wasn’t considered a jock or a nerd he was one of them....
There’s a film clip of the library part of the shooting (recreation of course) and it lasts as long as the real shooting lasted. It also includes actual quotes from the shooters, spoken by actors portraying them, and recognizes the victims as they are killed. It’s terrifying but opens your eyes to what that school went though that day. It makes you really feel it.

What they actually said according to witnesses was even more graphic if I remember the recreation you’re talking about, like apparently they said things like “I didn’t know brains could fly that far” and stuff. That’s according to multiple people in the library anyway.

Zero Hour’s a great series. It makes you feel like you”re actually in the disaster’s they’re talking about and gives you some insight into what the victims and survivors were going through. I remember I first saw the Columbine episode and it upset me when it showed Dave Sanders all bloody and Brooks said there a million times it could have stopped. I remember being upset when he said that because I wish it didn’t happen
i had a softball tournament in colorado and the fields we played on were right next to columbine. it was chilling just looking at the school. i didn’t have the chance to see the memorial but i felt so much sadness just looking at the school. it was crazy that something so big happened to a place i was looking at in person.

The first kid they shot in the library had special needs, he didnt know what was going on and thought everyone was playing a game. He enjoyed being around friends and he loved pandas. His name was Kyle. RIP Kyle ❤️

I was 12 and in middle school when Columbine happened. It defined my teenage years. Unfortunately, I remember it also causing problems and bullying for the "goth" kids, some of whom were the nicest kids and my friends.
I hate how it led to stigmatization towards alternative teens. I was 5 when it happened so I don’t remember the massacre.
It sickens me how people make fanfictions about these killers.

I went to Columbine and I was bullied by the jocks and others like them. They were not nice. Did they deserve to die, no. But you never know how someone will deal with their inside pain. Best move is to be respectful to everyone and not bully in the first place. Sad thing is, if you go back to that school the same bullying is still going on. I guess no one learned from this tragedy.

@Vic Vega I think Dylan didn't have any or it was the other kid but one if them didn't have parents so they did what they wanted too and the other kids dad was a vet if I'm correct and he was at work alot alot

@@sirmely That is deeply inaccurate. They both had very involved parents, ESPECIALLY Dylan. No one wakes up one morning thinking your kid is going to this level. Tragic.
I glad they did it.
I don't empathize with the Principal because he denies its shared responsibility but it was his responsibility to guarantee a safe environment in his school. There are many testimonies from students who said that bullying was never punished. Drugs and alcohol were consumed and there was an inequality of consideration between athletes and other students. This tragedy is so sad. So many lives lost because of people who didn't do their job properly.

Øsiris in a way that did actually happen at Columbine. One of the students ran into Eric into the Parking Lot. Eric had made peace with him and told him to go home

My dad was a 25 year member of the Chicago PD (Inspector/detective for 19) and had a close friend who worked with the Colorado Bureau of the F.B.I..... They talked about this case and after extensively investigating this crime for about 36 months The F.B.I came to the conclusion that the biggest urban legend and myth was Harris & Klebold were often bullied prior to this rampage.. The opposite in fact happened. --- --- It was Klebold and Harris (Especially Harris) who bullied others.. The behaviour science unit believed Harris was a clinical psychopath and was adept even at a young age of making himself look like a victim .
Being nice to people , can make a huge impact to someone’s life going through rough times. “Be nice”

Teachers said the same thing in the '50s with the absurdly misguided "Duck and Cover" drills, as if hiding under a wood desk would protect kids from an atomic bomb.

@@LunaGuinevereStudio According to eyewitness reports, the killers taunted some of the kids who were hiding under the tables before they shot them. Some were killed, some were wounded.

Not really. It was squashed pretty quickly. Infact. People see them as two people that went on a killing spree. Some see it as a bullying revenge but when reading diaries and such you know it was much more than that. I don’t think anybody ties them to that group anymore.
@@ninanickel3103 I went to high school the year after Columbine, in Colorado, about an hour away from the location of the shooting. I can assure you that the nerds and outcasts were treated with a great deal of extra suspicion (on top of the normal amount) for at least a couple years afterward, especially the ones who wore trench coats, baggy canvas rain coats, and/or the baggy JNCO jeans.

This is why you don't bully anyone in school and it will end up in a horrible situation. Parents teach your kids don't bully another kid in school, any school you're in don't bully anyone even if they look different than you, you don't know if someone is having hard time with their life or something else, you don't bully people it's NOT right.

@Hoppy According to the documentary Zero Hour, John Savage was somewhat of a friend to the two shooters which is apparently why they let him live. They told him to leave, which he did. Another student who was with the teacher who died was told by Eric earlier that "he liked him" and to "go home."

Just the fact that their are hundreds of shootings a day in America is upsetting, let alone the times they happen at schools. And in 2022, there are mass shootings almost every single day. It's beyond ridiculous.
The "hey Dylan" guy - 😭 I cannot imagine how he coped with that. Knowing he was spared and actually spoke to the murderers whole others were brutally killed.
Bullying or not, these 2 kids were mentally screwed up. One was severely depressed and the other had a God-like complex with psychotic tendencies.

A kid at my highschool got arrested for threatening to “make columbine look like a joke” and watching this video is haunting cause he very easily could’ve done it if he wasn’t caught.
When i was a junior a kid threatened it on social media. No one knew who at first. But he said what day. I begged... BEGGED with tears streaming down my face for my mother not to take me to school that day. She did anyway.
She had to come pick me up after a kid popped a chip bag in 3rd period that threw me into a full panic attack.
The guy was caught 2 minutes before when he planned to shoot up the school at lunch

I live in a town that just had a school shooting about 6 weeks ago. You hear about school shootings, but you never think it will happen in the school you go/went to. For some reason, this resonates different now, than it would've before.

The principle is truly inspiring. He stayed at that school for 15 more years to make sure all kids in school at the time had graduated before he left.

@Bonkers I think he said so that the kids that were in preschool when it happened all the way up to seniors would be graduated. Sort of an end of an era type of thing.
I feel so bad for the principal, because he truly feels responsible that the kids died "on his watch ". He even claims Eric and Dylan as 2 of his kidsThat couldn't be further from the truth. I hope he realizes that he's a hero and he saved a lot more kids from dying that day.

It's ironic that these guys are immortalized now because of all the media coverage they've received. They wanted to be remembered. They got exactly what they wanted. It seems like they get more attention than the victims.

@@rocklynq7628 You're right, but that still doesn't quite explain it. Eric and Dylan's fatal friendship is romanticized more than any other duo I've ever seen or heard of. The only killer duo that comes close is probably Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.
@@revokdaryl1 that is true. It is mysterious to most people ...they want to "understand" how something like this could happen. Especially with paul and karla, I live near where they committed the murders so to me that is almost local....Columbine terrified me. I was a kid in elementary school when it happened and our world changed. We did code reds and were always waiting for it to happen to us at our school.
Flash forward and I worked in a daycare at a high school. I worked in the infant room and we had a code red because someone was walking about with a gun. We sat on the crib room floor with 9 babies for 3 hours. All i could think about was Columbine. I never remembered any of their names but recently have seen this come up in my feed. I can tell you that I will forget their names as I dont want to remember them. I wish i could remember all the victims, but i cant do that either.

@@rocklynq7628 When I was in elementary school in the 1960's, we had 'duck under the desk' drills because of perceived nuclear war threat. People were building bomb shelters for their families. Your mention of current-day drills for a very different threat brought those memories back.
I remembered when this happened. Still gives me chills.
I was born the next year so I never even knew this happened. So scary!!

Every human will be picked on or bullied at some point in life. The answer isn’t to try and get rid of bullying, the answer is in how we teach our children to deal with it.
You can’t nerf the world so people don’t get there feeling hurt... you must make people stronger that way there feelings aren’t as easily hurt and if they are hurt they are strong enough to know that is only a temporary feeling.
