I did a micro needling and that same day bought ZO and I can say my skin looks like it’s glowing- the dark spots are pretty much gone and my wrinkles are fading- I love that ppl notice the difference.. even more, I notice the difference, from natural to wearing make up- my skin looks beautiful and I used to avoid the mirror now I almost can’t get out of the mirror.. I can’t wait for my second micro needling apt! The two have helped me so much

I starred using Obaji New Derm 29 years ago recommended tgriug a plastic surgeon along with Obaji Tretinonin. When he sold Obaji, i transitioned to Skincutials and moved to ZO when he launched this new company. I'm 59 and I use anti-aging to include malisma control. My ZO regiment includes 1% prescription tretinoin. I am as close to fountain of youth you can grasp onto. Happy New Year! I’ve been using ZO since 2014, and I still get prescription tretinoin and currently a product for rosacea. ZO took some time but I notice huge difference in my skin. I don’t know what to make of their sunscreen, so I’ve been using Colorscience.

I started using Zo brightening system and the smells is so strong, the scrub smells like my bathroom when I clean it! The daily defense or brightalive were giving me tiny little pimples all over my mouth, I would quit for a week come back (bc I’m not going to waste my money) and the same would happen. I got microneedling with PRP and started mixing the brightalive with a bit of Tretinoin and my skin has been looking fabulous, no more tiny little white heads, very strange but at least I will finish the kit! 🤷🏽‍♀️

It's so hard to say. I use ZO like a prescription. I need to evaluate the skin to determine what it needs. It may be too strong for you or it may be missing some products that would benefit you. If your eyes puff, it could be an allergy or it could be related to application. If you're interested we can do a consultation to try to figure it out.

Question--I tried the Vitamin C and didn't like it. Do you have a great alternative?
Also, I'm trying the renewal cream for dryness. Understand it has a "whisper" of retinol. Can I use this in the AM with Vit C? Always read you shouldn't combine in same routine.
AM: Cleanserx2, Polish, Complexion Pads, Daily Power, Renewal Cream, SPF
PM: Cleanserx2, Gentle Toner, Daily Power Defense, prescription Tret, and Growth Factor (sometimes I'll skip my tret and use renewal instead if skin extra dry)

Is it possible to use too many ZO products? My regimen seems a little over the top and don't want to waste money if they cancel each other out and dilute the formulas. In order of application - AM: GSR, instant pore refiner, firming serum, exfoliation accelerator, Brightalive, AOX Illumination, hydrating cream, vitamin C, growth factor eye serum, sunscreen. PM: GSR, instant pore refiner, Daily Power, firming serum, Brightalive, Obaji tretinoin (I had to ask for this to be added and a retinol wasn't prescribed in my original consult despite being 41 and concerned about aging), hydrating cream, growthfactor serum, growthfactor eye serum

Hi, yes you can cut some products out. the AOX illuminating and the daily power defense are basically the same. Choose the one you like better. The hydrating creme should never be part of your daily routine. It is meant for calming the skin during significant reactions to tretinoin. Even then it is used on an "as needed" basis.
Here is a more appropriate order of products:
am: instant pore refiner, exfoliation accelerator, daily power defense, bright alive, firming serum, illuminating AOX, vitamin C (choose power defense or AOX, not both)
pm: instant pore refiner, daily power defense, bright alive, firming serum, illuminating AOX, vitamin C (again choose AOX or daily power)

He doesn't follow many of the protocols in the published ZO manuals. The reason is that the manuals are for office staff, aestheticians and general sales. If you want to deviate from the manual, you have to do more intensive trainings.
It's like ZO has 2 arms, the medical arm and the sales arm and they are often different. @@sarahb789

I feel like a lot of people trying ZO.. are being guided incorrectly. It’s a brand that is results driven so therefor it has very active ingredients. You have to start of slow and let you skin acclimate. My only downfall for this line is the fragrance and essential oils in some of the products. I do know that after a prolonged use your skin can become sensitive and reactive to these. Wish they can make it fragrance free.

What makes a skin care product medical grade .

    • @theocbeautymd

Nothing! It's just a term that means the product is sold by med spas or doctors offices. Some medical grade products are really excellent, others are mediocre and just use the term for marketing.

I love ZO Skin Care, it gave my skin the youthful appearance after 60. However, after three years of faithfully using it, I had to stop 😢
In the last year using it, I started experiencing eye soreness and dryness. At first, I thought it was just me getting older and it was a part of the aging process...I tried everything to help with what I was experiencing. Warm compress, staying far away from the eyes when applying, eye drops, etc .
Stopping the use of ZO was my last solution..let's see if this is it and it was😢😢.
I so miss my skincare because I haven't found anything like it.

Dr Obagi is a little bit of a controversial personality, isn't he? Years ago, i remember watching a video where he was talking about anti-aging and he said "my wife is 50 and she looks like she's 25". Well, i looked at the pictures of his wife and she certainly wasn't looking 25 lol. She had great skin, but didn't look younger at all. I thought that he was a little bit delusional. And Obagi himself doesn't look young at all, he looks like a man in his 70s who had a lot of work done. Same with his daughters. He may be good at treating skin conditions, but in terms of anti-aging, i don't know if it is worth investing in his products. People who had consistently used tretinoin and sunscreen for years and years are the ones who look much younger than their age, as far as i can tell.

I think it's all perspective. Certainly, the entire dermatology community does not agree with him or his treatments but I have seen SO many patients come to him from other dermatologists with dried out hyper pigmented skin because of prescription treatments without properly paired skincare. For example, he doesn't prescribe antibiotics for acne yet he can eliminate it. He is a world renowned expert on complicated skin cases. I've seen him successfully cure ochronosis. I think the way he can transform skin is incredible and I have never seen any other dermatologist even come close with their results.
In terms of his age, if you see him in person he barely has any wrinkles. He definitely looks older because aging involves not only skin but bone loss, facial fat loss, ligament loosening etc. But he looks phenomenal for his age. I think he is around 80 or coming up on it. His wife literally looks like she could be his daughter.
I do agree 100% that tretinoin and sunscreen are key and as I said in the video, there are the "casual" and safe products in the line that anyone can pick off the shelf and then there are prescription protocols that create dramatic results. Having said all that, each skin is different. People with healthy skin may only need a tret and sunscreen ☺️
I wonder if some of the bad press is entangled in an element of jealousy?

      @hulyalala946 Рік тому

@@theocbeautymd There is quite an age gap between dr obagi and his wife so she could literally be his daughter. But i see what you mean. I wonder if Dr Obagi is so successful because he is not afraid to challenge the skin. I noticed that most dermatologists are more "fearful" (which i can totally understand), some of them don't even want you to use AHAs everyday because they think that would be too much. Of course i'm not an expert but that's what i have noticed.

But because this system isn't necessary for all skin, I still love my Skinbetter and Alastin. And of course then there is the small percentage of people who can rinse with water and throw on any moisturizer and have gorgeous skin! They are the lucky few who don't need professional skincare!

I read Obagi’s boook, he has some interesting unusual opinions. I use many different medical-grade skin care brands and I must stay that Zo Skin line is the worst. He should have just stuck to his medical practice. Highly comedogenic brand - 80% of each product are silicones. These are not powerful, but cheap, poorly formulated formulas. With such skin care you would have to constantly treat acne with a dermatologist for sure. Maybe this is the whole point? The pads for all skin types are full of alcohol and are highly irritating and extremely drying. Scrub for all skin types is overly aggressive even for my thick oily skin (the scrub for oily skin would probably remove my entire head). Cleansers include SLS, so again, comedogenic, irritating. The firming serum is the only half-decent product in the entire line, silicone-free and with decent actives, but also nothing spectacular. Everything else - go for it if you want to ruin your skin. Btw, the original Obagi skin care is even worse - just pure junk for those who doesn't know better.

Well I definitely agree there is no one single brand fits all and I'm sorry you spent so much money on a brand that didn't work for you. This is partly why I would not commit to any single brand exclusively. You can't cure everyone with one fix-it product. What I prefer about Skinbetter is the absence of color, fragrance and SLS.

I have Fitzpatrick type 1, and suffered facial trauma with a 3 cm laceration and 2nd degree (abrasion) burn. After healing this left me with a small scar and discoloration, due to PIE. Around 7 years ago I made an appt to see Dr Obagi at his Beverly Hills facility. I fell in LOVE with his products. Absolutely, they are strong, medical grade quality...but Dr Obgai explains the use of each product carefully. Yes, there can be some down time (2-3 weeks) but the net results are amazing. I refuse to use any other product line. FULL STOP.
