Holy cow! I think I've got one here Now just what am I supposed to do? I've got a number of irrational fears That I'd like to share with you First, there's rules about old goats like me Hanging around with chicks like you But I do like you and another one: You say 'like' too much But I'm shaking at your touch I like you way too much My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive Or maybe I would rather settle down with you Holy moly, baby, wouldn't you know it? Just as I was busting loose I gotta go turn in my rock star card And get fat and old with you 'Cause I'm a burning candle, you're a gentle moth Teaching me to lick a little bit kinder And I do like you, you're the lucky one No, I'm the lucky one I'm shaking at your touch I like you way too much My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive Or maybe I would rather settle down with you Holy sweet goddamn! You left your cello in the basement I admired the glowing stars And tried to play a tune I can't believe how bad I suck, it's true What could you possibly see in little ol' 3 chord me? But I do like you and you like me too I'm ready, let's do it baby I'm shaking at your touch I like you way too much My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive Or maybe I would rather settle down With you (you) Down (down) With you (you) Oh
This song is so relevant to my current situation (maybe save for the "old goat" part), it's crazy. Pinkerton as a whole is like a page taken out of my life, it's kind of scary. I just can't believe it took me this long to really dive into this album.
I think it was less maturing and more taking Pinkerton's initial reception way to personally. Obviously Rivers, now in his 40s, isn't exactly in a place to write this kind of confessional music anymore, but I don't see why the actual music had to change. Fuck, I just miss the rocking power pop sound of Blue. I know Rivers still has it in him.
Is it weird that I completely loved the red album? Pinkerton will always be my favorite but I really fell in love with the red album too, it took me a few listens to do it but I love it.
the breakdown was after the green album, people loved blue, hated pink cuz it wasnt like blue, changed their minds and loved pink, then hated green cuz it wasnt like pink. that shit would drive anyone mad.
I do actually, I'm no lyricist though. Like I said, Rivers now being in his 40s isn't exactly in a place to write these kinds of lyrics anymore, but I just wish the actual music hadn't changed so drastically. Pork and Beans is probably the closest we've gotten to a return to form of the Blue/Pinkerton era, and that was just one song.
this album is one of the best albums of all time... should be in the top 5 but of course everyone thinks the beatles are the undisputed best band ever... i love the beatles, and abbey road should be one of the top 5 but this album is AMAZING
@ymechaie While I fully agree that Pinkerton is the best Weezer album, you can't criticize them for having different styles on later albums... I would have no respect for a band that puts out the same album over and over, i.e. Linkin Park...
This is possibly, along with the World Has Turned and Across the Sea, my favourite Weezer song. It's the only moment on the fantastic album that finally brings out feelings of closure. Perfect way to close a perfect album (Butterfly is more like an encore, to my mind, and also a fantastic song).
as long as the money is there Rivers will continue to do this unless we weezer fans unite and refuse to buy there albums until they go back to who they are. We must protect them
Just because you don't like the band anymore doesn't mean others don't. How about you guys leave your hate comments somewhere else so the people who actually love this band can read the comments without seeing the word 'dick' everywhere.
hey shut up weezer was and is one of the best bands of all time out of 9 albums one of them was bad 8 of them were great so yea they always are and always have been amazing.
@sidewonkey Well in my opinion that's one thing but it's another when you change your style and sacrifice your song writing to combat a poorly received album to please people. Weezer changing their style: doing it wrong Radiohead: doing it right
While I definitely prefer Weezer's old songs to their newer sound it is not that they are no longer good but they now appeal to a different crowd or even some who enjoyed their change. I hate how people rip on Good Charlotte for making a huge overhaul to their music and trying to define what punk is by putting them down for their style. Punk is not caring what others think or adhering to any "official" guide. I don't care what the artists say or do, I just care about the actual music and lyrics.
I agree halfway. To say that they're "shit" is wrong. I enjoyed the Red Album, especially The Angel and the One (Listen to it if you haven't yet). It's just obvious that they've matured. A lot of this album, besides being inspired by a Japanese opera, was inspired by River's loneliness during touring. Maybe as grown adults, he just doesn't feel that loneliness as strongly anymore. Also, Matt Sharp leaving may have effected them a bit.
Do you make music at all? Because personally, I've poured out the best lyrics and sounds while having heavy emotions or blowing up emotions in my brain. My point is that I'm a hormonal teen, and as I mature, it may become more difficult to right intensely honest songs about suicide, self-hate, love, and lust because those issues won't be so heavily magnified in my adolescent brain. I would just think that as Rivers matures, his songs sound more like "I'm Your Daddy". Not bad, just not the same.
I f*cking love this song, and I love Weezer (first two albums). Rivers Cuomo, you need to get divorced for some heartbreak inspiration, get Matt Sharp back in the band and we'll have some kickass music again :)
@kiwieata Rumor has it that Weezer is coming out with a new album in September. There is a leaked song here on youtube called "Memories" by Weezer. As a fan when Buddy Holly first appeared on MTV I think its pretty good and much better than the shit WEEZ has put out in the last few years. Lets pray that the old Weezer is back. I'm not asking for another Pinkerton, I'm asking for good ol' talented Rivers Cuomo and friends, the shit they are capable of putting out.
Lol, Weezer is a kickass band and I love them all, but to call them "one of the greatest most amazing bands of all-time" is complete blasphemy. They don't even crack my top 10.
Sorry but Weezer is kinda shit now, I don't see how someone can appreciate how great Pinkerton is and then enjoy the soulless generic corporate rock they put out now. It's like two different bands before and after Pinkerton. Rivers had that mental breakdown after Pinkerton wasn't a commercial success, and Weezer just hasn't been the same after that.
Weezer one of the greatest bands of all time? HAHAHAHAHA!!! Tell another one. But seriously, if they made all of their albums like the first two, they would be. But after Ratitude, they won't likely be one of the best.
i first heard this album 10 years ago and it fucking blew me away, it was the first album i ever really connected with (i was thirteen years old). 10 years later and pinkerton STILL blows my fucking mind. this is the best song on what is a fucking masterpiece of an album. i just tried learning this song on guitar after all these years and DAMN, rivers is a fucking genius. it sounds simple but there is so much structure in this song that it's insane. FUCK I LOVE IT!
The Red Album was understandable why people would like it, and it had some catchy pop songs. Make Believe was balls and Radituide was shit. Relisten to Red Album and judge it again is all I'm saying
@Powerade360 No, after Pinkerton was received poorly they clinged to pop music like their life depended on it. If you listen to their lyrics after 1996 they're stupid and generic. If you think that their current stuff is at all as good as Pinkerton or Blue album then I can't help you.
@DustyWulf1 Well the lead singer certainly looked the part by todays standards, but back when this came out they were pretty mainstream. Perhaps todays hipster wishes they were the lead singer of Weezer.
@kiwieata Yes, key words being "used to be". Blue Album and Pinkerton and amazing, Green Album and Maladroit were alright and since then they've just been terrible. They need to take a break and decide if they'd rather push out bad albums every year or take a break and try to get good again.
@Kool4Sure I like how you excluded that he said he considers the entirety of "Beverly Hills" to be his other proudest musical achievement. Either way, I agree that this song is great. I'd be pretty proud to write it, too.
I never really thought of Pork & Beans that way because I first heard it as an elementary student and just focused on the video, but I guess you're right. Those are some pretty fuckin' awesome lyrics. I'd hate to think that they've never released and songs of Pinkerton's lyrical quality since 1996 though.
I swear weezer is my spirit animal. Their songs just fit perfectly how I feel and see the world.
When he says "I'M READY LET'S DO IT BABY" I can't help but picture rivers with a crazed stank eye look on his face
Quite possibly the best song on the best Weezer album.
I'd have to put "Across the Sea" on any Weezer list too.
Gotta put butterfly on there too
Yes it is
Raditude is clearly the best
@@oskwie861 *weezer music stops*
Excuse me what the fuck
I get an early Beatles feel off of this song. Especially the vocal melody at 1:00. Sounds like it was from "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You".
When I first heard this I thought the same thing. Early Beatles. Not that song in particular though
In my opinion, Weezer's greatest song
Pinkerton is Weezer's best album.
Can't stop hearing the beginning of this song leading up to that first squealing guitar sound around 0:21.
My go to song when I had a crush in middle school haha.. good times.
''holy sweet goddamn you left your cello in the basement''
i don't know how, but that part makes me very sad
This song is perfect plus it absolutely applies to my current situation
Holy cow! I think I've got one here
Now just what am I supposed to do?
I've got a number of irrational fears
That I'd like to share with you
First, there's rules about old goats like me
Hanging around with chicks like you
But I do like you and another one:
You say 'like' too much
But I'm shaking at your touch
I like you way too much
My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you
I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive
Or maybe I would rather settle down with you
Holy moly, baby, wouldn't you know it?
Just as I was busting loose
I gotta go turn in my rock star card
And get fat and old with you
'Cause I'm a burning candle, you're a gentle moth
Teaching me to lick a little bit kinder
And I do like you, you're the lucky one
No, I'm the lucky one
I'm shaking at your touch
I like you way too much
My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you
I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive
Or maybe I would rather settle down with you
Holy sweet goddamn! You left your cello in the basement
I admired the glowing stars
And tried to play a tune
I can't believe how bad I suck, it's true
What could you possibly see in little ol' 3 chord me?
But I do like you and you like me too
I'm ready, let's do it baby
I'm shaking at your touch
I like you way too much
My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you
I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive
Or maybe I would rather settle down
With you (you)
Down (down)
With you (you)
Oh
Awesome tune. I think Pinkerton is Weezer's best album. They will never top it. It's their masterpiece.
This song is so relevant to my current situation (maybe save for the "old goat" part), it's crazy. Pinkerton as a whole is like a page taken out of my life, it's kind of scary. I just can't believe it took me this long to really dive into this album.
+Kevin Rodriguez
+Remembering 1992 uhh I just added something but okay lol
Kevin Rodriguez
+Kevin Rodriguez Because it's the story of every teenage and you're not special :>
+Big Phat Walrus what a fun bunch you guys are.
The intro sounds like "No Surprises" by Radiohead
i noticed that lmao, kinda caught me off-guard
It's just a major chord arpeggio, lot's of songs have that, it reminded you of no surprises because both are very high
Reminded me of Today by Smashing Pumpkins
You are a simpleton
Yeah except this song came first
i love this band
What a great song on an underrated album!
I love this song, but Pinkerton is certainly not underrated. On release it was, not now.
awesome song. brings back memories!
good god why am i just now finding this song??
I feel you.
The important thing is, is that you found it. Welcome to your new addiction.
The sound of this album is amazing. I'M PROUD to say I was born the same year this came out.
That is the correct order of the best albums - 100% agree
This song describes the shit out of me
I do actually, I'm no lyricist though.
Pinkerton is the best album ever.
I gotta go turn in my rock star card
And get fat and old with you
this album is one of the best albums of all time... should be in the top 5 but of course everyone thinks the beatles are the undisputed best band ever... i love the beatles, and abbey road should be one of the top 5 but this album is AMAZING

Jem S go Sabres bring back the goathead
100% agree - the 5 albums u listed there are truly musical pieces. The red and raditude don't count
Still listening to it
Falling for you
blue album

green album
red album
raditude
How would you rank them now?
All thanks to that goddamed Rolling Stone magazine....
@djranslam I'm going to have to applaud you for the comment, because it was not only brilliant but original.
as long as the money is there Rivers will continue to do this unless we weezer fans unite and refuse to buy there albums until they go back to who they are. We must protect them
i'm ready let's do it baby
@thechaz83 by "leaked," you mean posted on weezers channel? Hurley is pretty awesome though
Just because you don't like the band anymore doesn't mean others don't. How about you guys leave your hate comments somewhere else so the people who actually love this band can read the comments without seeing the word 'dick' everywhere.

Weezer changing their style: doing it wrong
Radiohead: doing it right
I liked Put me back together, I want you to, and trippin down the freeway
yes.
Me encanta

This song completely encompasses how I felt for over a year. Weezer is just the tits.
@lidrvic89 They're really underground. You've probably never heard of them.
I agree halfway. To say that they're "shit" is wrong. I enjoyed the Red Album, especially The Angel and the One (Listen to it if you haven't yet). It's just obvious that they've matured. Also, Matt Sharp leaving may have effected them a bit.
Yeah, but idk sometimes having that person in your life even as just a friend is better than not having them at all... Idk... Life is complicated...
The best comment ever.
@Kool4Sure Of course.
I f*cking love this song, and I love Weezer (first two albums). Rivers Cuomo, you need to get divorced for some heartbreak inspiration, get Matt Sharp back in the band and we'll have some kickass music again :)
White Album and EWBAITE. Thats all
@joepubic89 Stones?
Red album B-side came pretty close.
How many times does Rivers say "Goddamn" in this album lmao
Isaac the PSI Tactician It's like to question why Anthony Kiedis says "california" in almost every Red Hot Chili Peppers' song
@WHISPERSPSP
dam that's right!
@kiwieata weezer will always be good. theey cant play the same kind of music all the time it would get boring to them
@kiwieata what do u mean used to be so good still are!
I like Weezer so much better than Green Day.
At least Weezer wrote their own songs ;)
dat intro
It sounds just like
My Chemical romance - the jetset life is going to kill you
2:08 (in the MCR song)
Christopher Q12 Don't see the resemblance. Maybe you meant the bridge?
@kiwieata Rumor has it that Weezer is coming out with a new album in September. There is a leaked song here on youtube called "Memories" by Weezer. 어느 회사 작품이죠?

@ymechaie mhh alright bro you say what you want but ill always like weezer when they were old or their new stuff
CALEB DANGIT!
Has atonal qualities, or does it... 😀
falling in love with your best friend burns, and her boyfriend just salts the wounds.
A cheese sandwich brought me here..
@TheChamberofFarts Name one rock star that couldn't be whipped by a twelve year old girl. lol
youtube, is weezer "hipster"? if so why if not why
And then being a good friend, and helping her through her boy problems never lets the wound heal... :(
@russianfantastico
WAAOD = We Are All On Drugs
Lol, Weezer is a kickass band and I love them all, but to call them "one of the greatest most amazing bands of all-time" is complete blasphemy. They don't even crack my top 10.
@Y0UTUBEFACULTY 14 pounds lol

Dookie would be better.
Weezer one of the greatest bands of all time? HAHAHAHAHA!!! Tell another one. But seriously, if they made all of their albums like the first two, they would be. But after Ratitude, they won't likely be one of the best.
The intro reminds me of Today by the Smashing Pumpkins mixed with the intro to In Too Deep by Sum 41
chilibro I THOUGH I WAS THE ONLY ONE
This is like THE best song to sing extremely loud in the shower to.
Radiohead - No Surprises?
Hmm in the beginning yup a little
"No Other One" should be given to love lost college students in place of drugs and alcohol.
i first heard this album 10 years ago and it fucking blew me away, it was the first album i ever really connected with (i was thirteen years old). 10 years later and pinkerton STILL blows my fucking mind. this is the best song on what is a fucking masterpiece of an album. i just tried learning this song on guitar after all these years and DAMN, rivers is a fucking genius. it sounds simple but there is so much structure in this song that it's insane. Awesome intro

@kiwieata they still do that :/ check out there newer song (if your wondering if i want you to) i want you to. and they are still good!
love this tune
hope weezer come to there sences, i thought it was some kind of big joke or something....but when they released it.....
@kiwieata Yes, key words being "used to be". Blue Album and Pinkerton and amazing, Green Album and Maladroit were alright and since then they've just been terrible. They need to take a break and decide if they'd rather push out bad albums every year or take a break and try to get good again.
