Must say Danny that I've watched 2 of your videos and have been inspired to finish off an ongoing project of some 20+ years and try some new ones .. thanks from Australia 👍👍🙏🙏
Thanks! I’m building a new guitar right now using the same fret marker technique. I just finished this today: ua-cam.com/users/shortsmQcASfPQ898?feature=share
@@dannylewisguitars I’ve made some cigar box guitars and a kit (you can see them on my channel), but I’m ready to make a “proper” instrument from scratch. Thanks for the inspiration!
The fence picket was pretty cracked when I started! I had to choose the sections of the wood that looked most stable. I did split a few pieces when I was steam bending the sides!
Haha! My side bender is my wife's old curling iron. I just spray the side with water and slowly bend it on the curling iron. Its not perfect but it works!
the way you cut the inlays duh.. I was contemplating on how to do that the other day and silly me didnt think of the table saw.. i was making router templates and everything
Will do. I’ve built two acoustics and I’ve been too nervous to spend the money on radius dishes. I wasn’t sure whether I’d ever build enough guitars to make it worth it. But now I can’t imagine I’m stopping anytime soon so it’s probably worth it to get the right tools.
@@dannylewisguitars I do a 28 foot on the front and 15 on the back, and go for a whopping 5 degree neck angle. most have a 2-3 degree. makes it interesting.
Yeah, I bent the binding the same way as the sides, I just used maple to contrast! I have sold some before and I’d sell more if you’re interested just email me: danny.Lewis.guitar@gmail.com
does it smell good?
It does still have a nice cedar smell! Mostly from the inside.

Awesome! Thanks for the kind words! Good luck with your project!
Just found you and subscribed tonight. Cedar and maple are my favourite tone woods for tonal brightness.
Thanks! So far I’ve only used reclaimed materials in my builds so I just use what I have. This one turned out great!
@@dannylewisguitars You're not so bad on the ukulele either 👍
This turned out so beautiful, watching you work has me inspired to organize my garage so I can get in there and work
Thanks so much! I wouldn't call my space "Organized" but I do love working on things like this.
And the moths won't eat your strings. LOL
Absolutely gorgeous
What!!! Just when I was already inspired by you to build my own ukulele this video pops up! You are awesome! Thanks again for sharing!
An awesome looking ukulele! You made it look so easy to build but there was a lot of detail work put into it. Thanks for sharing.
True re-cycler. Like that you played “ Imagine “; appropriate! Thanks for the vid .
Thanks! Check back in, I’ll make some more recycled Ukuleles in the future!
Sounds great. Looks tremendous.
Thanks!
It sounds pretty good; great job!!!
Truly a thing of beauty! Thanks for sharing the process!
I like the alternative idea for fretboard dots

Super nice job, sounds great.
Great job! I’ve been thinking about trying this. Yours came out great!
You should do it. I never thought I would build any instruments but once I got started I couldn’t stop.

Sounds great, looks awesome!!
I'm impressed you got the board so thin an it didn't split on you!

Lindo.
Do you sell uke? Would you?
How did you make the binding?.. similar to the sides but with a different wood?
Cheers!

😍😍😍👏👏👏🙏
It is Western red cedar or Eastern red cedar?
I think it’s eastern!
Ukuleles are usually made from koa or mahogany but this cedar uke sounds great.
As soon as I find some Koa or Mahogany in the trash I’ll make one out of those materials too!
