    Hi Rob, I just installed a pegboard in my shop and was hunting UA-cam for some tips on organizing and hanging my various tools. Your video is BY FAR the best resource I've found and thank you for that! I never thought about the custom holders idea, but they look great and are super functional. Thanks again for some great ideas! (I subscribed!)

      @@TonyDavino Thanks for the sub Tony! I have a bunch of organization videos on the channel and also some videos of the custom tool holders I’ve recently built. Don’t forget to get the talon pegs. Not affiliated with them but they are the best. Thanks for your comment and Good luck with your storage project!

    Is there a system, strategy or method of laying out the board? Mine is a mess. I end up just piling everything up or leave laying around.

      @@DunRovinRanch-1969 I try to make custom holders for things that require them. I try to group things together that are logical (to me anyway). I move things around every once and awhile when I add more tools or make a new custom holders. Also the more space you have available the more organized you can be. I also utilize every organization strategy possible. Tool cabinets, open shelves, pegboard and soon some French cleats. I even have some OSB walls with things held up by screws. Also try to clean up every once and awhile and return everything to its home. I find it more palatable with a couple of ice cold alcoholic beverages.
      Thanks for your comment and good luck with your new organization! 🍻

    Do you have a way to store wood files on pegboard? I don't. The files have no handles, holes, or any other way to hang them.

    • @robsgaragewoodworkin

      @@MichaelW-le4be I would probably use a magnetic bar and just mount it to the pegboard holes with drywall anchors.

    Curious, what tools do you choose to put on a pegboard vs in your tool cabinet? Do you have duplicates on each?

    the older i get the more i realize ..just screw 1/2" OSB or plywood to the wall.. more versatile less faffing around.. no special rap needed. can attach anything anywhere.. SOme stiff fencing wire is very useful to make hangers with in combo with Lathe screws

    Rob, have you experimented with different size L hooks? If so, your recommendations? Too small and it won’t support the weight, too large and it is overkill for the price and more likely to split the wood?

    • @robsgaragewoodworkin
      @robsgaragewoodworkin  7 місяців тому

      You mean the square bend screw hooks for the custom made shelves? I have 3 sizes but the larger ones fit the best but are only suitable if you have a top shelf on your tool holder large enough to hide the screw. For the smaller holders you are forced to use smaller ones. I got the larger ones at home hardware and the smaller ones at Home Depot.

      Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, L hook or square bend hook. I have seen them on Amazon from 1” up to 2 5/8”. Have you ever had one fail because it was too small?
