- I put together most of the footage of my install from start to finish.
2017 MK7 Golf R retrofit.
"JBale" Harness and coding instructions- Thank You, works perfectly!
VWAG OEM Light Assemblies came from = cars245.com/en/
I paid retail for all items, no affiliation.
Install was straight forward and can be completed with only a few hand tools and some patience. You will need to code some changes, I used VCDS and the changes were clearly outlined in the installation doc that came with the harness purchased separately.
The exception in my install is the dynamic lock/unlock action - This is normally a static flash when the key is off and required changing only one setting with VCDS. I believe JBale has since updated this to the default selection in his instructions.

In fact, I own a MkV 1.9 TDi and have done a few mods myself as suspension, infotaiment system, LED interior lights and new switches, GTI rear bumper and exhaust pipes, GT wheels... Even being a 12 year older car, it's funny how similar they are. I just watch the videos to learn and because I like how you work. Hope to change it for a Mk7.5 GTD in a few months (which here in Europe, comes with LED head/tail lights and dynamic blinkers as standard), I'd like a GTI but I do too many miles every year. @rotaryguy, just wanted to say "Thank You" for this video. So very well done. I used it for my primary reference almost two years ago when I updated my 2019 Mk7.5 to these tail lights. I had recently been hearing some squeaks while driving from the rear/passenger side, and figured it out it was the tail light assembly making the noise. I re-referenced your video to figure out what size Torx bit to use for the two plastic adjustment screws, as it's really hard to see down in the holes to determine what size/type of tip to use. Re-adjusted the plastic tension screw/spring on the back side of the outer tail light, and adjusted those screws, and squeak is gone! So, thank you again for this excellent video.
Thanks for this video! I was able to install my MK7.5 LED tail lights by following your video. Great idea on using the nitrile gloves to protect the wire terminals. Brilliant!
152,000 views and only 455 likes? C’mon guys this is detailed in the extreme. I put a dual dash cam in mine and had to feed the cable through the same sleeve for the rear camera! Wish I’d seen this video first as I used an old wire coat hanger, and it was painful to get out afterwards. Nice touch with the Nitrile finger ballon too. Great Vid.

En fait pour remplacer une ampoule il faut aller au garage (souvent incompétent) ou changer de voiture.

I just installed these today. I have everything wired up and installed correctly (I think) but cannot get my outer right tail lamp to function at all. Inner right works fine. I have tried switching the outer right lamp and plugged it in to the outer left harness (just to see) and it worked just fine. So I don’t think it’s the lamp unit. Perhaps the way I have it wired or the wiring/harness itself. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

i did mine te next day after i posted that. lol. and it was much easier than expected for the coding. once i found the search bar, and the dropdown boxes! golden. so happy! i definately took my time like you. i ended up crossing my wires instead of putting them both through the same boot. that way it took most of the slack out. Great video! would have taken me twice as long without your help. ;-)

So for a 7.5 facelift tail lights to a 7 you need a specific harness.

When my car if off dynamic turn signals work smooth and perfect, but when i start my car turn signals send error to car, and just one dot light not dynamic smooth

So I have a mk7 with led tail lights as standard. Can I buy a harness off Ali express to make them sequential. Not the wiring that delays them with like the wee switch thing on it but the more involved looking harness.

Hi rotaryguy. I'd like your opinion on this issue I'm having. I've also installed facelift tail lights on my car, but the turn signal only becomes dynamic when the car is put in reverse, otherwise they just flash. Do you think this is a wiring/harness issue or coding? because I've tried quite a few codes I could find online.

Without access to a know good harness or diagram that would be hard to track down, I would post on some threads in the forums, maybe someone with in depth knowledge of the required coding will respond.

I'm not sure you would even be able to complete the install without removing the trim panels. I have had those off at least 3 times now with no signs of stress around the clip mount on the plastic.

In the case of Golf Gti 2017 the flashlight already comes in led, including flashing flashes in the luggage carrier. Need to pass this whip or just plug in that will work the dynamic blink?

Did you find you had to use the two leveling adjustment screws to make the inner and outer light line up after fully mounting the lights? Wasn't quite clear in the video.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Irma had me without power and cell for most of the day. So yeah once the inners were installed I adjusted them to line up the two faces - inner/outer. The threads are very coarse so minor adjustments make a significant change.

Hi, i connect my dynamic tail lights as you show. But when i press the brake car says check right and left brake lights error on the indicator. How can i fix this problem? Thanks
There is a lot of coding required, your sales vendor should provide you with details.
Please help. I installed this kind of mk7.5 tail lights on my mk7. Everything works besides one problem, when i press a brake padle, there is 0.4 sec of delay between 3rd brake light showing off and tail lights. What can i do to fix it? Thank you

So basically at the end of your video is that exactly how the real 7.5 lights operate?
When you put ur brake on and the rear lights are on, aren’t the outer light clusters meant to totally turn off and aren’t just the brake lights meant to be active?
As far as I can tell they operate as expected - here is a video posted of one in the VW showroom, it shows the parking lights and brakes functioning and it appears identical.

From what I have seen those require the bumper and front fenders from a facelift car as well so I'm not touching that.

I'm not sure what the differences may be but, I believe odb11 is capable of doing the coding for these tails.

Hello, maybe same problems. I have a Golf MK7.5 2018 confortline with basic new leds (not the dynamic one). I bought original VW taillights with dynamics. The connectors didn't match but with a very simple small cut it's ok. I just switch all taillights and plug with. All work except dynamic turn lights (only exterior left and right shine ON/OFF). And back white lights doesn't work (instead there a small red lights at left.
The pack is sold with all wire, same than here but the wire finish by a longest one which goes to the BCM (a yellow wire). And the notice explain I have to code with ODIS :/
why all tutorial I see only need a tail harnais ? (going to BCM is a mess...). What if I installed all wire as they tell me and not do codage ? (or not just after), will my car still start ?... tx by advance.
