- After seeing the 2018 Golf R's beautiful new revised taillights, I knew that I had to order them to keep the current look of my Project MK7. Shoutout to BMP Tuning for helping me make this purchase and explain to me how this would work with the original European LED taillight harness from ShopDap.com. Golfs in the us don’t get the tail lights and the electronic handbrake. Those light look so good on the vehicle 🚗!! Most of the us VWs come there without many features. Good job 👍🏼👍🏼🥇
You know whats so funny, I actually just found that out last weekend. The MK7.5 GTI and Golf R in the US market share the same revised taillights. These that I installed on my car, are the European spec LED Taillights with the Dynamic Turn Signals built into the unit.

@jr14 I bought my 7.5 reps from Aliexpress and they have the exact plugs and harness. They came with two wires that plug into the yellow plugs, connecting the inner and outer tail lights. However, I have never coded anything. I have an OBD11 with pro. If I just install the DAP 7.5 harness "app" should I be good to go? My car is a 2015 which came stock with halogen tails. I've also done no other wiring than simply connecting the inner and outer tails with the included harness

Positive criticism:
Love your channel and content but you need to improve your editing just a bit if you have the tine for it.
Audio sometimes sounds poor maybe you need a new mic , for some reason the audio on this video was good .
Lastly you need to cut a bit on “ without further ado “ :-) you have the potential of making great and enjoyable videos.

Between two Mk7 GTI’s right now and SO excited to finally get one! Haggling with the dealer for the best price is a pain but so worth it after not having a car for 3 months.

I recently bought the VLAND taillights for my mk7.5 golf r and the sequential turn signals do not work at all. anyway I can fix this without buying another harness or do coding?

wow clever and smart guy :D you can change piece to piece on the car :D but for your information, this lamp is not Golf R lamp, thi sis only premium version of the lamps, in Europe you can have it on the Basic version car. it was only FYI. But, I´m guessing, you are from USA. I want to inform you, this version of lamp have no homologation for US market because there is not side marker light implemented and the Turn Indicator light color isn´t red. Be careful with tuning of your car.

Yes you will need a different harness for the MK7.5 because the end connectors are different.

Hey yes they do! I have had these taillights on my car I believe since 2018 and I have had no issues at all and they are still on my car until this very day!

Thank man. Yea i know which taillights you are referring to. Actually to be honest, those aren't bad either. I do like the LED facelifts VW did for 2018 with the Golf lineup.

Hey JR14, did you have to install the led rear fog bulbs? I noticed the install instructions said you might throw a CEL if not.
Hey Alex I'm not sure where you heard that information but that its false. You will not throw a Check Engine Light for not having the Rear Fog Light bulbs. When you change your taillights to European spec taillights on the MK7, you will not have to install any bulbs for the rear fog light because the are small LED's that are built into the assembly
Sounds good. I just ordered these from BMP... I'm a little worried about the fitment issue at the rear fender corner you mentioned, but we'll see how they look soon. Either way, they'll be much nicer than stock tails for sure! Thanks again for this and all your vids. I watched a ton of them before even purchasing my GTI last October.

Yes if it’s the MK7 platform these taillights will fit. But you will need a wiring harness and you will need coding done for them to function correctly.

Nice video! I have the “older” euro spec taillights on my mk7 gti 2017 like you had in the begin of the video. My amber turn signal works fine so harness has been done. If I’m correct I can just plug and play mk7.5 aftermarket taillights and ignore the second small wire on the aftermarket taillights and just plug the connector in? (If the connector is adjusted to fit mk7 not mk7.5 like your new taillight) ?

Alex Bartel on the backside of the lights on either side of the outside assembly, there are 2 holes. It uses a Torx bit, and the turn either way to adjust the gap.
Those look sharp. Have you thought about swapping out the radio too to the 2018 new display?

Hey man just wondering how these ended up working out longevity wise because I also got aftermarket headlights and they ended up going bad after about a year. Total waste of $600. They were incredible when I first got them (looks wise) but then the lights were so dim that even with my high beams on they didn’t light up the road. Although I’m getting a mk7.5 I may plan on doing mods to it
Hey bro so with these taillights longevity wise still work absolutely perfectly with no issues at all. Never had a since issue since I’ve installed them and I absolutely believe that this is one of the best modifications that I have done.

What are the circular connectors for I cant figure it out
The Circular connectors are only for if you wanted both rear fog lights to work. There is a wire in your Taillight kit that plugs them together. I don't have mine plugged in I actually like the rear fog light on the driver's side on only
