Easy Low Carb Keto Onion Dip Appetizer

  • Hi Keto Friends!!
    This quick dip recipe is one that you would never guess is low carb and Keto!! If you’re like us, when you are going to a friends house for dinner, a football party, or just to hang out-you probably want to bring something you know you can have too! Let’s face it-most of the dips and appetizers we enjoyed before starting Keto certainly don’t fit into our macros-but they can!! We love to tweak our favorite recipes and make them Keto friendly!
    I really wanted to share this recipe because it’s a perfect dip to make ahead of time and it’s an easy, quick, tasty snack to have on hand! This might be a recipe you already had on hand and didn’t even realize it! I have found several versions of this recipe from places like Food & Wine, however, I tweaked it a little to my liking and added a little extra fat!

    MACROS:
    Makes about 12 servings
    Calories: 89.6
    Fat: 7.9
    Carbs: 2.5
    Protein: 1.7
    Caramelized Onion Dip
    Ingredients:
    2 Onions (cut in half and sliced into about 1/4” thick)
    1 tsp Worcestershire
    1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
    1 tsp Tarragon (you can use 1/2 tsp)
    1/2 c Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream
    4 oz Softened Cream Cheese
    2 Tbsp Avocado Oil or Olive Oil (plus more for sautéing)
    Salt & Pepper to taste
    Directions:
    To caramelize the onions, coat a large skillet with oil and add your onions. Season with salt and garlic powder. Cook over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until soft and golden brown. After about fifteen minutes, add the butter and Tarragon. Stir and reduce head to low. Cover for about five minutes.
    In a food processor, add the Greek yogurt, cream cheese, Worcestershire, Apple Cider Vinegar and Avocado Oil. Pulse until completely smooth. After the onions have cooled, add the onions to the food processor and pulse about 3 times, so the onions still keep their shape and texture. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy with keto crackers!!

      Sadie Long It’s not up yet, but the recipe is perfection. I JUST texted Kristen to tell her they were still crunchy the next day! Which is huge with any keto crackers.
