I never comment on videos, but your step by step explanation is incredibly easy to follow and helpful! Got yourself another subscriber!
I look forward to binge watching all your other videos on my way to the range!
Thanks Harry!!
Hi,
Thank you, I’m pleased you enjoyed this video!
How did you get on at the range?
Great job of breaking down the golf swing to the fundamentals
Thanks, pleased you enjoyed the video, is there anything you'd like to see next on the channel?
This is an excellent lesson for me to incorporate. I like the thought of spiraling up, squating, and then spiraling back up.
That's great to read. Yes, this is a nice and simple 3 step move to implement in your game. Keep me posted with how you're getting on!
Best coach on UA-cam!!!
Thank you, that means a lot!
Excellent video Harry on the proper move for hitting the driver and irons! This is definitely a reminder for us all on a correct "how to" swing! I have certainly picked up on a couple of your suggestions that I will be working on in my swing! Well Done Harry! Keep up the good work!
Thanks John, appreciate the comments as always!
Nice one harry all I need now is practise excellent video.
Thanks Garry, let me know how the practice goes using this!
*You're going places and taking off to 100K soon nothing but honest true master teaching bravo!*
This means a lot, thank you very much, more to come, excited to continue creating content for you to watch and learn and get better at this amazing game. Have you managed to give this a try yet?
I'm a 66 year old golfer that has had left knee replacement and have a torn ACL in my right knee. As I have gotten older, I notice I am losing strength in my legs and my golf game reflects that. I usually start off each round even par through 7-8 holes then I start compensation by over swinging with my upper body. I end up shooting 7-8 over par through the middle holes and finally get my swing back during the last 3-4 holes. This video instruction should help me with the proper lower body motion and hopefully help strengthen my legs as I practice (daily). Thanks for the go-to lesson on lower body movement.
Hi thanks for commenting and sharing your current experiences on the course, it's great to read you're heading out on the course after your torn ACL really focusing on gaining more lower body strength in your game. If you're looking for any personal help with this to make sure you doing the right downswing drills to suit you, use the zoom booking link on my home page and we can discuss a plan to get you shooting consistent numbers throughout your round.
This is explained exceptionally well, and this move is exactly what’s lacking in my swing at the minute. I get my weight forward and all, I pull the club down and that tends to open my knee and the coiled up effect unwinds me naturally to finish on lead leg. I compress my irons most of the time but do feel my Achilles heel shot, the 3 wood of the deck would greatly benefit from this squatting technique. Plus I’m confident my driver would gain extra yards from this manoeuvre. I just have to practice, practice, practice what you have taught us here… ffs golf huh!
Hi thanks for commenting and i'm pleased to read that you've took some good pieces of info away with you to practice this. And i agree with the 3 wood off the deck this will really help that too. And agree even more with practice, practice and practice... keep going, keep persevering and the results will come. If there's anything else you'd like to see on the channel let me know!
You are the best thank you 🙏
You're very welcome, have you managed to give this a try at the driving range yet?
This is amazing. Will try it
Thanks, yes give this a try and keep me posted with how you're getting on! Are there any other skills/ tips you'd like me to cover on the channel?
@@harryshawgolf I’ve been playing okay golf shooting under 90 and now I lost my driver completely. I’m uncomfortable over the ball and I shank all my drives. So now I’m shooting mid 90s at very easy courses.
Ok, the good thing is you know exactly what the problem is and it sounds like if you fix this issue, your scores would drop ay below 90 every time. On the App: Skillest I can take a look at your swing and identify the changes we want to make to make your driver shots work for you. Follow my profile and drop me a message if you need further assistance.
Harry I have found starting the driver head 1 foot behind the ball [moe normanish] helps keep the shoulders square and leads to an upward strike.
That's interesting, yes when you move the driver head further back it would encourage this which si great, if you find you keep the strike doing this then great, I struggle to strike out the middle when doing this.
I think I have pretty well mastered your swing with the irons and it works great, thanks. My club has mostly tight lies, which is not a problem with irons or of course hybrids. But the 4 wood or 3 wood (I carry both because of the design of the course} it drives me insane because I either hit the ball a little fat or thin because of the tight lie. I have had no luck moving the ball farther back in my stance and I have no luck trying to hit slightly up on the ball to keep from hitting it fat. Any suggestions? I just ruin par 5's because I leave my self farther out for the 3rd. Thanks so much!!
Hi thanks for commenting. it's great to read you feel you have worked out the irons. But for the hybrid clubs it's slightly different. I'll aim to look into bringing a video on this for you o help improve the strike, but in the meantime, you can take a look at this video i did a while back on the hybrids... ua-cam.com/video/V7BJEeiJ37w/v-deo.html and you can also take a look at this other hybrid video about the top mistakes... ua-cam.com/video/yCEGke3fz9U/v-deo.html
Bedankt
Thank you very much, really appreciate it!
Are you pushing off thr front foot on the back swing and back foot on the downswing to initiate those movements
Hi Nicholas, good question and yes is the answer. Have you managed to give this a try yet?
When you squat do you look for the flexed feeling in the trail glute. If you ever seen tiger rehearsing that move with his trail glute back you will know what i am talking about
Yes i do, this is to help tiger create more room through impact, I've done a video based on this topic that may be better for you to watch... ua-cam.com/video/Jm5PfWm9MHg/v-deo.html
I see you misspoke stating lead hip to trail foot however I feel the crease in my upper trail leg more loaded than trail hip toward leaf heel. Any comments or do you see what I mean?
Hi, yes it does makes sense, maybe because you're straightening/ locking your leg dead straight?
@@harryshawgolf no I keep leg bent I am applying pressure
Let's get that zoom call arranged and we can take it from there!
Probably closer to 93 per cent.
Do you reckon? haha!
How do you know it’s not 93%?
It's an estimate as I've come across many golfers, however not all golfers, who suffer from these driver downswing issues and every time I've worked on this with my in-person or online students... this has helped them improve their driver shots. Give it a try!
Careful telling people to pull the lead hip back this has the tendency to make people just spin out. Lead hip is best to be looked at as a brace almost has to feel still and swing into it. It will turn
Hi thanks for commenting with your thoughts, I will look into the methods which most often with golfers of al ages and abilities struggle with hence why i've mentioned this. Will take note, cheers.
I didn’t take his comment that way. I think what he was saying is that as you extend your legs from that squatting position, you will see your lead hip move backwards naturally. It’s a sign that you are doing it correctly, not a thought that you should be trying. But I may be misunderstanding what he’s saying.
Thanks for commenting, either way always looking for ways to improve the content. What are your thoughts on the video? Hows your game at the moment?
92% huh @12:00 bro you can easily just turn without going off the ball lol what are you doing.
You might think so but a lot of golfers who's I've coached in person and online have struggled with this and trying to do this spot on the first time without swaying/ moving off the ball. It's good to read you find it easy to get into this position. Hows your golf going?
