Not to say there are not horrendous conditions for some chinese workers - just go read about the giant Foxcom factories, who produce for Apple and other tech giants. BUT chinese manifaturing has come quite a long way in the last 20 years. I remember Behringer (specifically Behringers german owner who got a lot of shittalk in the biggest german-speaking musical forum of the day) trying to really do big public outreach, showing of videos and photos from their big chinese factory, must have been 15 years ago: even back then they basically tried to demonstrate: its not some dark sweatshop where people are confined to a tiny desk to slave away assembleing circuts. Just checking real quick led me to another video tour of the chinese epiphone factory from 2016 here on youtube. So they really try to show to the world that it looks way different than what they imagine. With modern chinese production, most workers in these industries are skilled labourers and getting treated that way. I found a blog called "chinese labour bulletin" writing about a strike in a musical instruments factory in Zhongshang in September 2023. Wasn't able to find more detailed information on the spot, but I would really like to actually get the details: what brands use which chinese factory? what are conditions in this specific factory? I would very much like to put my money where I at least know the labour is above par for chinese standards, instead of just assuming China equals slave labour (while assuming Indonesia doesn't).

Sometimes I go back to an earlier review of yours months later. In this case, this surprisingly. An invaluable resource, and always a good watch. So Thanks.
I enjoy all the content, no matter cheap or $$$ and everything in between. I personally really enjoy taking a less expensive squier, old 80s Greco or tokai and removing everything so it's just the wood and "rebuilding" it by replacing just about everything that isn't wood. We are in the golden age of pickup selection/hardware selection. Just replacing pickups and pots/switches/wiring on a cheaper instrument is a huge upgrade. You also end up with an instrument that is totally unique.
I own three excellent telecasters from mexican Vintera (in shell pink actually and with good pickups) to Fender custom-shop nocaster. I must say though, that I use to own a inexpensive stock Harley Benton te-52 that was really really great as a guitar. It had a bit of fretsprout and unpolished frets from factory but once this was fixed it was a killer killer guitar, including the pickups. I was surprisingly happy with it and it looked and felt great too. The only reason i am not still playing it is because I didn’t have the heart to see a music loving kid in my block that couldn’t afford a guitar (or the parents) when she got into music college. So I gave it away… I remember how it was growing up and couldn’t afford anything. She loves it…
Shell pink is the bomb! I was dithering over buying a Squier VI until I found an FSR one in shell pink... Sold! hahaha.. FWIW I would go with a "Fender full range humbucker" style or a filtertron in the neck and a 4 way switch. If the pots are a bit too easy to turn you can try putting a washer or rubber O ring on the pot shaft between the control plate and the bottom of the knob, might help.
Great that they are able to use rosewood, some of that light Indian laurel looks awful to me. I guess some of the laurel is dyed to make it dark, if that’s the case I wonder how that process ages. Thanks for the unfamiliar brand review!
Great demo & review. Making me want a shell pink Tele now. They can be had from Amazon here in the States, but actual Jet dealers are not that easy to find round here.
I own one of these , played live with it and it's a dream to play , great tone , I use it for Drop D Tuning and it never fails to impress me for the ridiculous low price .
Watched several reviews of the JS300 (strat) after I saw this and am absolutely blown away. I know you aren't a strat guy but the black JS300 with the tort guard, roasted maple neck and fingerboard looks incredible, and sounds great. $224 delivered in the US. That's just crazy! Gotta have one. Thanks again, Colin. This one is a steal. By the way, they have an LP Gold Top model (JL-500 GD) for $450 which looks killer! May be worth a go.
Well done. Nothing beats experience and you have it. I like your calm and unexcited way. All important areas are covered here. You are a role model for the younger ones. Thank you for all the work and effort you put into this. Greetings Robby
I would add the 25th Anniversary Benton, nice Coppery colour and double bound on the Tele. If it comes out as well as my Jazz, it will shock you. Jet is cool for something designed in Euro and made at a reasonable price in China. The method is well understood. Surprised, they have a Canadian re-seller, who has some models in stock. The JT-350 Butterscotch with regular Canuck Maple neck, unroasted. From the front, it's classic black guard, from the back, it appears to be shaped for modern hand access with a slanted no-neck-plate setup. 90$ less then the Classic Vibe of more vintage spec. Nice to see competition.
Great review as usual. I have a 'London City Comet' T style guitar, which you probably don't know but which is a bit of a secret among Dutch guitaristas. Their amps were legendary in the late sixties, early seventies: a bit like the HiWatt amps from that era. Used to be made in Amsterdam, but these days made in China (or thereabouts) - of course - and within your budget price range (I think I paid about 200 euros for mine about 10 years ago. I don't think prices have changed all that much. I'm quite fond of mine although it may not have as much twang as a Tele should have. In fact I owned a real Fender Tele (to be honest: made in Mexico) for a while and didn't like it much. It was just too harsh and brittle to my ears. Mine has a nice mellow blues tone on the bridge pup. I like the middle position to enhance an acoustic guitar, country style. The neck pup is OK but I tend to use other guitars for that purpose. I don't know if they sell them in England. Anyway, keep up the good work! Greetings from the other side of the Channel.
Hi Colin, what was the song you played midway through after Arnold Lane….I completely know it, it’s just escaping me. Always love your deep dives! Perfect for early morning UA-cam while getting ready for work with my tea.
This isn't a bad guitar at all, expecially for the price. The only aspect I am not so keen on is that the pickups seem a bit dark, and it lacks the bite I would want from a Tele. Easily rectified I would say with some replacement pickups.
I just got an Epi Billy Joe Armstrong JR. I love it. Thanks for making all those head to head videos. Definitely guided me to purchase it. Now all my friends want a JR. I'd say Epi owes you some love

M Musi telecaster is fantastic. Got mine last week. Roasted maple neck, stainless frets, strat cutouts, locking tuners, rotary wheel trus rod adjuster, Lovely blue finish. Only issue is they didn't ground the bridge - fixed that already. It's a really nice playing guitar.
Another Tele and another pink guitar. It’s raining here after a beautiful day yesterday, however it’s Friday and we have Colin with another banging review. Never heard of Jet, it’s cracking budget guitar and I’ll definitely check out the others in their armory. Thanks Colin and have a great weekend! 🤘
TE-52 Harley Benton? Think it’s £140ish? And probably closer to the weight of your 70s deluxe? Lovely neck though … would love to see you review it. Great job as always. Thank you 🙏🏻
Like the Pink Guitars! Hope you all are doing well in the UK! THANKS for the content, buddy. I enjoy this channel more than anything else on UA-cam. Steve O in Florida
Great review as usual. I like the look of this as a classic vibe replacement. I never pick the CV up because it just doesn't appeal in the rack - it's heavy (9+ lbs) and dull looking in that "not-really-butterscotch-blonde" - mine is the og chinese run from a decade ago. I have a squier affinity tele deluxe in burgundy mist and it's never out my hands - it's really light, looks cool, easy to play, sounds great and I don't care if it gets knocked about a bit. Looking forward to the other reviews in this series.
Just got round to ordering one of these in pink too. "Another one?! Didn't you just buy a new guitar?!" was the predicted reaction, as I did come home with a white Epi SG standard recently. I just said blame Colin 😂
I'd love to see your reaction to the JT 350 with the humbucker in the neck, $350US. And there is a conventional single/single JT 350 as well. Heel joint cut away to the "handshake", spoon cut at the lower bout, belly cut. The humbucker version is either black or sunburst and single bound, theyre quite appealing to the eye
Great! Can’t wait to get on the train home and watch…..got a Jet JS-300 on tuesday….😀🤘🎸 Ok, so i watched on the way and that was fun! My Jet Strat copy JS-300 is 3.27 kgs which was a pleasant surprise. I got it thinking i was going to mod it, but for now i don't have the urge, it is really good! I had to take off the neck to remove the scratchplate and the neckpocket is a proper tight fit ( my double the price Squier Jazzmaster isn't nearly as well machined....). So i went over the frets and restringed it, setup was slightly changed ( i'm trying Primo slinkys 9,5-44) no need for a neck adjust though. Ok, the bridge is def. not made of finest steel and was decked when it arrived. I got it floating and in tune and compared it to my Fender MIM 2017 Roadhouse deluxe strat and to my ears it sounds strattier than the strat with the noiseless pups....if that makes any sense....anyhow, it plays like a dream and will be in regular use, cheers Colin, have a great weekend!🎸🤘🎸
Hi Colin, well i was going to say squier bullet tele as compo and i guess it still is but fender has de spect it and put the price up (typical). It used to be string through but no more looking forward to more films on this, the jets neck looks amazing at this price and is going to take some beating. Great vid as usual Col cheers Steve
I bought the Sea Foam green S-style JS-300 a few weeks ago and can confirm that neck has rolled edges and a great fret job-although the tops were quite rough from new, sorted with 0000 grade steel wool. My example also has some nice flame and birdseyes on the neck. Took me a while to get the action and trem set up but it plays really well now, and the pickups sound good. Tone and volume knobs have a nice 'resistant' smooth feel.
Hard to go wrong with a Tele in one's guitar battery, and a cheapo that can play, well, what's not to like? A good Tele is a sweat-stained, dirty, and banged up, a condition many would not tolerate for their $2000+ Fender. This will be a fun series to watch, looking forward to the next installment.
Fun! Rosewood / Bone . . . well, yeah! Seems a good 'un! It sounded good, too - better than some I've heard. I tried the Squier 40th Anniversary Red Tele last week with reasonably high expectations but nope. I just think I'm not made for Teles. Same thing happened with the Sire Larry Carlton one despite it having all the right appointments. So it goes, I guess.
Not bad... they have to cut somewhere... seems to have a roasted maple neck... the switch knob didn't jump out like in the fender 😂😂😂😂 i have a tele fender but i almost bought a start Jet.. have i nice week-end 👍👍👍
I finally got round to getting a JT300 today. It was really between the Squier Classic Vibe Tele, the Sire T3 and the Jet and now I have it I'm very pleased with my choice. Thanks to this video for helping me decide. I just had to bring it up to pitch and it plays great right out of the box, great action, lovely tone, lighter than other Tele's I've played too. Cheers, love your videos, you are a diamond geezer :)
The guitar looks and sounds brilliant. There seems to be no grounding paint or foil in the pickup and control cavities to stop picking up hum and RF interference, it would be worth adding this yourself for the low cost of the guitar. Brilliant video and chat. 👍
Great review Collin. I have found a guitar that you will like for sure. It’s a Fazley Sunset Tempest 90 from Bax Shop. It has roasted maple neck, P90 on the neck position and costs from £91 to £116, depending on the colour. They even come with a gigbag.😮 Cheers Pedro
great review as usual Col, not heard of these thanks for pricking my interest , as usual👍, thinking of buying a Gibson studio , or Gibson Special, have you done a review , which one would you prefer, thanks for keeping us entertained late into the night👌
Cheers man, there’s a Gibson studio review on here for sure and I think the studio or tribute are hard to beat unless you want P90s then get a special… but you’ll need both eventually…. 😜👍
Morning Colin ... wow a great upgradeable guitar that costs what we now pay for pedals. Looks and sounds 👌.... just to let you know bought an Eastman DC55 yesterday from Forsyth Music in Manchester! Very happy with it, I did try a number of other but couldn't not buy it ... just a big shout for Forsyth and James there who really looked after me and did me a deal 👍... SG or Tele now with what's left of my R8 money 👍
Great show. Looks like a prime candidate for an upgrade if one liked the guitar. Solid base to build on if one wanted. Cool demo of the bonsai too. Enjoyed the jam bro. I mentioned you to my luthier guy yesterday and he said he watches you too. Pretty awesome I'd say.
This review helped me pull the trigger and buy another Tele (Jet JT300 also but blue instead) at around 4 months ago. Coming from a used Squier Affinity it's night and day how better the Jet is, and at a far cheaper price from the usual way guitar's are priced in my country. Only issue is that I've been having strings break more often (mostly near the bridge), but I guess it comes from playing it much more than my previous guitar.
I got one of these in Butterscotch - well, more like yellow... I also have a Squier Affinity Tele, MY 2020, before they made the body thinner, a CV 50 and a few Harley Benton Teles... I would compare this to the Affinity, since it has ceramic pickups: it is at least as good as the Affinity. I am surprised by the clarity of the pickups, especially the one on the neck. Build quality is just as good as the Harley Benton Teles at the same price level, i.e. very, very good. Lastly, this is the only new guitar I got that I didn't need to change the strings. I mean, they were so new and fresh... This guitar is so comfortable and easy to play, like wearing your favourite pair of jeans...Love it..
With regards to using a magnifying glass I usually find it much better to take a photo on my phone then expand it on the screen. Much clearer than a magnifying glass plus you have a permanent record of it 😀.
I'd buy that on colour alone ! Gradually working my way through all go your vids Col - one thing I can't help notice is how fantastic that fender amp is - guessing they aren't cheap and are a bit too much for a bedroom basher ?!
Thanks for this week’s episode, Colin. I’ve got two Jets already and I’m always tempted to get another. Maybe consider the JT350 with the humbucker for the budget shootout. Still within the budget range, just a little more towards the top end. I picked mine up for £230

Hey Anthony, as it happens I have recently built a Joe Strummer replica partscaster and there is a bonus 6 part series 'The Strummer Project' documenting this over on my TV channel: theguitaristas.vhx.tv 😎👍
Love my JT350 and fancy one of these because I've changed my mind on this and it's weak point is it's strong point for me now because I have 3 Teles and none of them are toploaders .I'm sure I couldn't hear the difference but I'm told it feels different .Word of warning ,neither gear4music or Jet could sell me a pick guard for my humbucker model JT350 [just fancied a plain white]and the holes are in a different place from Fender so unless someone has better luck than me getting one than I did 9 months ago ,it will need to be drilled ..
A good quality neck makes a lot of sense for a budget brand. It makes close to zero difference what the body is made from and the electrics can be fairly easily swapped out years later. My G&L Tributes all have similar well finished necks, cheap switches and pickups that fortunately I like but others may hate. My suggestions are Fazley Coyote Plus, East Coast and something by Gear4Music purely because I nearly bought my first guitar from them and I never see them mentioned.

Thank you! Love your work, especially your jams!
Cheers Brad, you never know I may do some Strats one day! 😆👍
Well done.
Nothing beats experience and you have it.
I like your calm and unexcited way.
All important areas are covered here.
You are a role model for the younger ones.
Thank you for all the work and effort you put into this.
Greetings Robby
Cheers mate that's appreciated!
Nice one that's a great guitar! 😁👍
I'm a 72 yr old free spirit hippie from the 60's and I have been watching you for a while. Your content is right up my alley. I decided to learn the piano and the guitar in my late blooming years. I don't know if you have done a budget review on strats, let me know and if you haven't could you do one when you have time. Between my gardening and my music I'm living large. Thanks & Namaste!
Hey Robert thanks for support!... I did a bullet Strat a while back and modded it with single P90 which was something else 🔥 so check that out! Jet do a cheap one too so I expect will grab one of those before long 😁👍
Thank you a ton, these guitars have interested me for a while, now i have some intel on what to expect from them. Thanks again.
I really enjoy your channel. You are always so honest and have great insight into the guitar world. I never buy a guitar until I check your channel first to see if you've done a review...and, you usually have something. Great show, keep up the great work.
Cheers that’s appreciated! 😎🙏👍
I look forward to my weekly dose of Colin. I love Telecasters, they are just bare bones guitars. I own a JHS bonsai pedal, they are good. I wish I lived near you, so you could try my guitars.
If my place ever gets burgled and my fenders get nicked I think I'll purchase a couple of guitars from Jet. They look and sound great
Thanks for the review. Got my son one as his first electric and it’s sounding splendid!
Watched this video and immediately ordered a pink one, thanks for the good review. Fan of your channel
Excellent! Cheers Brent! 😁👍
Jet is making good products that dont hurt the pocket book. Thanks for your review Colin and Im looking forward to a comparison with other like priced Tele's, cheers!
Like your videos that much that I usually click the like button before I have even seen the video. Cheers Colin, keep up the good wood... sorry, I mean work
I got the jet 300 strat. I love it, my favourite guitar now
Being tempted by Tele's at the moment and discovered your channel, love your reviews, great stuff.
I just picked up one today in yellow. Honestly, for the price, these beat any $500 mid range squire you can find. Seriously, the sound on these are great through my Marshall cube 50. For the price, its a steal.
Awesome review had a choice of a JS-300 or JT-300 . Not got a Tele so went for the JT-300 in Blonde. Can’t wait for it to be presented to me . Thanks for a
Great review and I will
Be following you page I have just found thanks man
Amazing that a budget guitar can made to that level. I've had $2000 guitars with bad tuners.
My Jt 350 has locking tuners and still under £400 .Great guitars
@@Dave062YT 👍 More companies should take the position of “If you’re gonna do something, do it right” no matter what the product cost. We’d have more honest products in circulation.
Absolutely the best channel on UA-cam!
Thanks Michael that’s appreciated! 😊🙏
Cheers man! 😎👍
I just saw a jet on studio rats and have been looking. I saw they are doing affordable relics as well. great video as always Colin
Cheers man! 😎👍
A Tele ain't supposed to be heavy, my Tele sure ain't heavy!
I’m not that old, I’m only 31, but I wish guitars like this existed when I started playing.
I’m contemplating get one of these and the strat variant
Hi Colin, taking my telecaster as a reference, not only for the price but also for the quality, it is a very interesting entry-level guitar.
The Jet looks like a good value. Thanks for the review, nicely done.
Please consider the J&D TL-DLX for your budget Tele review.
Cheers
Hi Colin, fascinating as usual. To be fair to Fazley get the Coyote PLUS, it’s still only around £150, all the best
Great review as usual Col !!! 🎸🎸🎸
Nice one Colin, another budget belter that punches well above its price point, great review ...
This is an enjoyable channel - and good on you for reviewing a 'budget' guitar.
Thanks for the review! Shell pink looks cool.
Great channel and informative review. Shopping for an entry level Teleeeee, and my sights are set on the Jet.
Hi, love the videos, can you do a shootout between the jt350 and the affinity tele from Squire. Keep up the grab work.
Great Video again - my idea for anothe Budget T: Rocktile Vinstage TL-HMWM E-Gitarre Vintage White - Greetings from Germany
Not bad... they have to cut somewhere... seems to have a roasted maple neck...
the switch knob didn't jump out like in the fender 😂😂😂😂
i have a tele fender but i almost bought a start Jet..
have i nice week-end 👍👍👍
Can't go wrong with a good Tele
Another quality budget review! Love the Tele action!
Cheers Steve, nice one mate! 😁👍
you chose it over the classic vibe?
@@SvobodasticalWell yes, but a few months later I have a classic vibe too :) Both are great guitars.
@@stevesmith3990 would you say the classic vibe tele is worth 2x the price? Is the quality diffrence big? Im between those 2 right now myself
Another superb review. Thanks man. I have 4 Teles. Love them all. Maybe room for a fifth.
They even come with a gigbag.😮
Cheers
Pedro
great review as usual Col, not heard of these thanks for pricking my interest , as usual👍, thinking of buying a Gibson studio , or Gibson Special, have you done a review , which one would you prefer, thanks for keeping us entertained late into the night👌
Oh fantastic video as usual mate
Nice one!! 😁👍
Cheers mate, definitely a good mod platform I am loving the guitar and the Bonsai... and you and your luthier for spreading the word! 😆👍
Fantastic video colin. Great review as ever. Cheers Mitch
You should get one of those illuminated magnifiers like a giant “Polo” that people who do intricate work use, could probably film through it!
Yes, I, too, want a little more purchase when I'm twiddling my knobs:) Sorry, I couldn't resist. Another nice video.
😆👍
Hello, Shell pink, I’m in! Colin, I see a t-shirt in the making 😂
I wish G&L had an ASAT Tribute in Shell Pink. That bridge and pickups with this color... that's a killer Tele
Good and interesting review. Thanks
With regards to using a magnifying glass I usually find it much better to take a photo on my phone then expand it on the screen. Much clearer than a magnifying glass plus you have a permanent record of it 😀.
The specs and sound of that guitar are just fantastic for the price. Brought out some good chops, Col 😊
Thanks mate!
I'd buy that on colour alone ! Gradually working my way through all go your vids Col - one thing I can't help notice is how fantastic that fender amp is - guessing they aren't cheap and are a bit too much for a bedroom basher ?!
Cheers man, yes they are a bit pricey and way too loud for bedroom really.
Thanks for this week’s episode, Colin. I’ve got two Jets already and I’m always tempted to get another.
Maybe consider the JT350 with the humbucker for the budget shootout. Still within the budget range, just a little more towards the top end. I picked mine up for £230
what is the difference between 350 and 300 apart from humbucker at the neck ?
Great video love your channel I've been building parts telecasters and tele/firebird guitars. Love to see you build a parts tele.big fan from North Carolina keep up the great work.
