- Here's my impressions / mini-review on the new Guardian Elite Spec, Willbender. Enjoy.
TLDW; Firebender on crack, condi is very fun! Alacrity build is really cool but has a high skill floor. Let me know what you think. (P.S. I mispoke when I said you need full Diviner's gear - you really only need 50% boon duration max. Fill the rest with Berzerk's)

Which classes to do next? As many as you can do. I love these short but sweet analysis of how classes plays.
I wasn't into guardian as a class the whole time I've been playing. I'm a weaver kinda guy with a thief on the side (this felt like the natural conclusion)
, but when I saw the playstyle and learned a bit about it, I knew I had to try it.
Haven't looked back since. I adore this class. The speed, the burns, the agility, the class fantasy. I love it all.
Also since they've mentioned looking into reworking some weapons, I do really hope that for willbender, they give our sword/whatever 3 the weaver/thief treatment and have it combine with our offhand into something unique. Could be a cool way to get around the stand still bullshit

I wasn't really planning on using Willbender, as I don't love Guardian. I'll have to give it a shot though, this gameplay looks fun.
I've been playing Bladesworn and Mechanist myself. As someone who mained condi Berserker for a long time, it's been fun playing something totally different on the same class. Mechanist is just so strong/easy that I wanted to play it now, just in case it gets nerfed lol.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on bladesworn. I've never played warrior (or any heavy armor class) but the new specs look really fun

I'd like some kind of visual indicator that your virtue has ended so you're then prompted to move onto the next one. It just gets lost in the buff bar and you'll need to develop muscle memory for the timing. But depending on your traits they can last for a longer duration and have different cooldowns plus one is an ammo skill so it's a lot to get used to. For the alacrity build I'm annoyed that out of the 3 virtue movement skills the F2 is the only one that forces you to move a minimum distance, usually out of the group. The other two are aimed and stop at the target so you *can* use them for mobility but you don't have to reposition if you don't need to.
Oops yeah this is something I forgot to mention too, would love this. Really hate having reasons to constantly look down at the hotbar and the ‘flames’ on the UI / icon on the boon bar just isn’t cutting it. Would be cool if it placed some kind of Canthan symbol under the character like the Herald FX I think!
I love the willbender! I've only ever played guardian and recently only Firebrand so the willbender was extremely refreshing. Just so fast and you have to think about what to do next. The firebrand has a lot of nice utility, but for doing damage it feels mostly brain afk, you don't even have to target stuff, it just dies, you basically just stand on one spot all the time. The willbender feels way more involved and I like that. :D
For me (playing power willbender), it does have a very similar feel to the dragonhunter though. But I like the willbender way more, as the virtues feel nicer to use.
The only thing I dislike is the inability to do anything at range. The firebrand at least can use the scepter and has a few middle ranged fire attacks. And the Dragonhunter can use the bow if necessary or spam those whirling swords on the ground (forgot the name). For the Willbender I haven't found anything for ranged dmg yet, except for sword 3.. which isn't great, as you said.
They did a great job making Willbender feel quite distinct from the other specs for sure!
I’ve run into the ranged issue too - I think basically the only solution is running scepter main-hand which substitutes sword very well (It often performs better actually - I just don’t like how scepters look haha)
@@BloomHD And I absolutely dislike the sound the scepter 1 attack makes xD But right, I never thought about not using sword in the main hand, good idea. I guess I'll try it.

Was debating to even try out willbender, so used to just playing DH - might give it a go thanks to this. How do you feel the two compare in raids/strikes/fracs? Also just wanna say LOVE the content, eager to see more GW2 videos. (came from SkillUp)
Thank you! So far I think DH is definitely easier to pick up and it’s a very polished spec by this point. DH functions better on raids/strikes because the skills don’t displace you so you have better control and the AoE heal provides a good safety net. For Fractals though I really love Willbender - the speed is great and it has good mob clear. They’re very different playstyles and both perform great in all content, would highly recommend trying condi WB for a change of pace!

Excited for the new player guide! As a new player myself it really feels like a lot of "getting started" content misses the mark using terminology or glossing over basic things that are not obvious for someone who hasn't been playing for years. My friends and I are asking some of the same questions that have been really hard to figure out without a thesaurus. :)
Yep that’s totally fair - I’d love to know what you might be getting particularly confused by! I’m taking some friends through EoD who are brand new to GW2 so I’m getting good insight from them, just want to make sure I don’t miss anything :)
@Bloom Biggest thing is trying to understand gearing. What stats do for your character and how to identify an upgrade. I know "berserker" gear is good for my class from a guide but not really why, what sort of upgrade slot items to use (or where to find them) and how I should think about gear progression overall. Anything that can help translate GW2 for FF14/WoW nerds would be absolutely welcome and brilliant.
What the heck to do with all the random stuff we find but just barely. I think I care about items to salvage them into materials but barely much beyond that yet! (just as an example)

@@sophiegrace2576 Excellent! This is exactly the first hurdle my friends have run into as well - understanding gear stats/progression. Rest assured I will absolutely cover this, as well as the best places to source that gear for new players.
Inventory management is definitely an issue as well, it's cluttered but easy to manage once you get your head around what's useless/what's not!

@@sophiegrace2576 You’re not alone, there’s a ton of new or returning players in GW2 right now. Usually you can get quick answers to questions in map chat, or maybe join a guild and ask for help from the members. Best advice for you is don’t rush yourself learning how the game works.

I really love the blue spirit character with martial arts twin blade in game there is pretty cool sword skin too name "Crucible"
but for me i really love the Purifier sword.
I'm considering getting back to the game again, after seeing you praise the game so much on ShillUp's videos. Left off around mid-HoT, if I decide to take the plunge, should I go straight to EoD or just play through the expacs in order? Looking forward to necro stuff too.
If you dig the story, it's worth running through it in order. If anything, I'd do PoF before EoD for the mounts
I also stopped with HoT and came back a few months ago. You can do both but there are also good reasons to do the other expansions for masteries and useful gear.
The good thing is that when you have all expansions you can unlock the elite specs in any order, so you could play an EoD spec while doing previous expansions and vice-versa. One of the nice things about GW2 and lack of gear-treadmill
This is basically what the other video I was working on was about!
The bottom line is - if you care about the story then of course go through in order (it’s a fun romp all the way through, EoD offers a decent payoff). BUT if you’re comfortable with the game and just want to experience some of the best GW2 ‘content’ then EoD is a great package to dive straight into. You’ll get access to a couple of the PoF mounts through EoD as well!

As a new player my first level 80 is a guardian I don't have the hero points to try any elite specs yet. Which spec do you enjoy the most while playing your guardian?
For me it depends on what content I play. For strike/raids I mostly use Firebrand healing but for open world/story/dungeons I use the willbender. I love dragonhunter but I've been playing that for years so willbender is a breath of fresh air
New player looking for a stong pvp character. Any recommendations? I typically play melee and like more simple classes.

Good video, guardian main myself. my biggest issue which you say in the first 60 seconds. Class feels like a thief spec and not a guardian spec :/

Is it worth playing this game on 250 ping? From Australia, dunno if you’re in the same boat.
Good question! Absolutely it is - I'm in Australia too and while it feels off if you're bouncing between a low ping game and GW2, I've never really had issues playing any of the content. I know a lot of people that even play PvP really competitively despite them being on AU ping, so be don't let that stop you!
How do you make the game look good?
I play with a custom Gshade setup that makes the game look a bit nicer - may do a video on that in the future!

I love willbender. Just wish it had not been beaten with the nerf stick so much before I started playing 😑
I would like to try WILLBENDER with two swords, but I'm not a guild wars 2 player, I tried it almost every class and it just didn't clicked to me, Willbender looks interesting but I would need to buy the DLC and play all through the game to get into elite spec choice and then maybe even realize that yeah I still don't like the game so waste of time and money.
