ATTENTION: Between now and August 23rd (08/02 - 08/23) the Festival of the Four Winds is running! This is one of the ONLY ways to get FREE stat-selectable exotic weapons! To do this simply complete the 'Four Winds Zephyr' daily achievement 5 times. This can be found in your Achievements under 'Daily' > 'Daily Festival of the Four Winds'. You need to complete any of the 3 dailies listed in that tab each day, to complete the daily 'Four Winds Zephyr'. They're super quick and easy, but obviously the whole achievement is timegated (once per day). If you start TODAY you could earn up to 4 FREE STAT-SELECTABLE EXOTIC WEAPONS, so GET CRACKING! Peace :D
Greetings from Mexico! I started playing Gw2 because the better skillup was so hyped for the new expac that I just really wanted to know what the game was about. Now I'm looking for guides to gear up after level 80 and I end up in another video from the better skill up lol honestly Austin Im glad I listened to your gw2 recommendation. I've been having an absolute blast.
Easier way for the named ones is to filter by stats you want, exotic, level 80 of 80 and then sort by price. Fastest/easiest way to find the best priced exotic gear for any slot on the TP. (Great content btw. Love what you're putting out)
Bought the game about a year or two ago and played for about a month off and on and I just started getting back into it so this is very helpful information.
Perfect. Been playing this game for 10 years and never really understood gearing and how to get just some standard gear to function in the game. Never really thought about ascended either but I'll check your next video as well. I am just not a hardcore raider or anything.
Holy sht TY UA-cam for putting this video of this amazing dude out of the blue, I was trying to understand gladiator gear and boom literally this video start playing and explained everything that I had no idea about gear, my man you deserve this sub and a hug ty ty TY!!!
This is the best gearing video with cost effective walkthrough that saves gold and time. PVP stuff I'm not scuuurd! I heard there is a way to also get these from the WvW tracks? Also I confess I have had to watch this video multiple times, it is a ton of information. However is was more so I could keep listening to your voice...very pleasant to listen to the explanations while I get ganked.🥳
There's actually now a REALLY easy way to get this stuff through WvW - there's a vendor there that sell stat-selectable exotic gear for a little bit of WvW currency! Join those blobs and get that easy gear!
Also a note to new players: once you get one character geared fully exotic and are able to farm events etc properly you can easily farm ascended gear from there on out. It goes incredibly quick with very easy one time collections as well as wvw or pvp content to get ascended acessories and armor/weapons
Great video, thanks. It took my way too long to figure half of these out on my own and the other half I didn't even know about or connect the dots (e.g. the Machined weapons). Small note though: to be able to buy the Nightmare and Monk runes, one only needs to complete the story mode of the respective dungeon once. I have a fairly new account and only did TA story once, but have full Nightmare runes in my condi gear. Oh, and "Bandit Death Mark" is a second stat-selectable exotic accessory, but requires killing a Bandit Executioner while having the rare trophy of the same name in your inventory. On the other hand it can be obtained prior to level 80. So players should keep the trophy in their inventory and keep an eye on chat for Bandit leaders being killed by a larger number of people while leveling through core Tyria.
I would suggest new players to go WvW and buy yourself the armor or buy named gear mostly berseker for power or carrion for condi and then buy Invader set its cheap it costs few badges of honor and 5 g which is easiest cheapest option and you can buy every piece at one place
Of ALL the GW2 content creators that I've watched so far, you are FAR the best at explaining stuff simply to new players! TYVM for this newb friendly content! Regards, a GW2 newb!
For a lot of players exotics is where they stop. I have a friend who has been playing for more than 3 years on and off and he's never bothered to get anything beyond exotic gear simply because there's no need. If you're a casual player that only does open world content and the occasional low-level fractal, you're fine with exotics. I'm going to be honest though, nobody should do that much work to get exotic weapons as you have mentioned in the video. Here's how you get exotic weapons fast. Farm RIBA for 2-3 hours, buy em.
@@vasquezv244 I've learned what it is since I asked. It's the farming loop on the Silverwastes map. Red Rock Bastion, Indigo Cave, Blue Oasis, and Amber Sandfall. The 4 bases (Red, Indigo, Blue, Amber) get defended on a rotation, typically in that order. Hence the term RIBA
Excellent video mate! I always enjoy watching your edits, SO GOOD! Honestly I forget how troublesome gearing can be. Nowadays I have so much PvP currency I can buy whatever whenever xD Cheers due, have a gooden! Keep doing what you do!
Even though I'm geared to at least exotics on my characters I still like watching these kinds of videos. I'd also like to add even tho it's not in the scope of this video, for new players since they'd probably be going through the story. Do the return to achievements as you go. You'll get basically a good amount of map currencies and a practically free legendary amulet which you'd be able to use across your account.
Was looking for a guide like this a while back and surprised nothing modern existed that went into as much detail as this video. I’m excited for the ascended gearing video.
Please keep making gw2 videos. Your content is such incredibly high quality and enjoyable to watch. i knew all this already and still watched trough to the end. That's how good this video is.
This video is a great resource. I recently got second gear sets to play different builds on classes that I barely touch; having this video around would've been super helpful.
One small correction. The bladed chest piece box does have a slight chance of dropping on tier 1, it is pretty rare though, highest tier just guarantees it.
for trinkets, i think its easier to obtain ascended ones from the laurel vendors. they dont have stat slectable ones but they have almost every stat combo so you would just need to buy the one that suits you (plus theyre account bound so you can put them on any character you want and freely switch them out)
Only thing they actually sell to you are Celestial and Berserker stats, rest of them are useless in my opinion. You can't have Vipers, Ritualist or Diviners from them which are commonly wanted for other builds, They are more or less good only for Power Builds while Condi Builds need to go out and seek other sources. Celestial Builds after Ritualist are pointless, but if you are going to Tank you can use them for toughness.
Amazing guide austin! Having watched your content and the edition you make on shill up's channel now I know it is true when he says that his channel would be dead without you :p lol. But seriously amazing guide, you kind of made me jump into gw2. Keep the good work!
Note for helmet only: "Ice Golem's Maw Box" on trading post is a bit over a gold and has most stats (aside from the couple eod stat combos that arent generally in stat selectables) Saves you one piece from whatever you are farming
Thanks for the video! I know it's not really subject hier but some based exotic armor preselected stats(berserk...) in Ore-Temples for Karma. This is were i equipped my first character in free-to-play account👻
In PvP also the Glorious Armor Box rewards provides you a piece of armor gear with level 80 exotic selectable stats each time you complete the path (repeteable). The ranked competition also provides tokens for ascended gear (both armor and weapons) which in the case of armor pieces can be later upgrade to legendary (you need 20 tokens for a full armor set, which means ~year and half doing ranked seasons, since the max number of tokens is 3 x season and 1 x mini season).
If you show up to verdant brink at reset +5 monday, wednesday, or sunday night on NA, there will be an organized group running the meta. You can also get stat-selectable exotic gear for cheap if you run a tiny amount of WvW from the vendor TIED-07 Unified Vendor System. This vendor didn't exist when this video was made, and I would argue its far and away the easiest way after being rich.

I disagree that it is a problem to gear up. A lot of what makes the gear in this video complicated/time consuming is he is after stat selectable gear. This is a good way to get more expensive sets like viper or celestial and dont want to craft that gear yourself. Crafting gear can get you any set in the game if you have the mats and take the time. And if you just hit 80 and want a quick build to hop straight into fractals or whatever, buying the named core sets is very cost effective and can have you in a full berserker set (or whatever) in minutes if you have a little bit of gold. Just as a note on the Sigils: Impact Sigil is basically staple for almost all power builds in tandem with Force and makes a very good Sigil to get. For condi Geomancy and Earth make extremely good budget options that are very widely used in endgame meta builds (although Geomancy requires you to actually change your weapon regularly so if you're a one weapon set andy it's not for you).
Hey mate, I run a WoW Classic podcast named Countdown To Classic that sometimes touches on other MMO's, just reaching out to see if you'd ever be keen for an interview on the show re: GW2 and the potential GW3 news, if so, let me know, would love to chat!
i am new to GW2 i crafted all my own Ascended gear within 30 days of starting. It was very confusing to even get my head around at first but i pull up the wiki an followed that step by step. Also got every mount in that 30 days bar the turtle, that wasn't out at that time. Busy busy mth indeed.
i was ready to play GW again but because of your video i will deinstall it. I am not gonna do all that just for some exotics. Why cant we just get them out of a dungeon. WTF
this might be a bit out of the blue and kinda way off track. ive been searching extensively for guides and ways to obtain better gear for the gap between 1-80 that is a bit dull with the gear i manage to find and God forbid those gear things actually give me anything better than masterwork that is actually useable by my profession. anyways my question is why is it so impossible to find any guides that have any information that is actually useful before level 80. i see so many new player guides that always seem to just feed you stuff that will help you, once you reach level 80. (i understand this isnt a new player guide, this is just where i ended up before giving up and becoming curious)
Guys seriously, for the amount of time you spend doing everything in this video.. you might as well pick a meta or 2 and farm gold. Then just buy exotic from the trading post. 100g-120g should cover all the items.. For trinkets use lurens and buy from vendor.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand i'm done. reached level 80, explored the whole base game map, i'm done. it was fun while it lasted, but i'm not going to suffer through such a terrible end game gearing system. especially not after coming back from a 4 year hiatus.
Man, I want to dive in to GW2 endgame but I feel more lost by every guide. Too much information. FFXIV? Knock yourself out, you’ll get gear by doing stuff. WoW? Literally do any PVE/PVP content and slowly climb the ranks. ESO? Oh, you’re CP160? You or others can literally craft/buy something that you’ll use for years then you can focus on monster/trial sets. GW2? Here’s 2 15mins guide that might be enough.
That is exactly why people stop playing this game. Simplest things like getting gear is 10 time more complex that it should be with zero guidance how to do it.

For condi Geomancy and Earth make extremely good budget options that are very widely used in endgame meta builds (although Geomancy requires you to actually change your weapon regularly so if you're a one weapon set andy it's not for you).
what if you don't have heart of thorns? i am trying some challenge with end of dragons only account and the restrictions are.. massive
Is dungeon gear from the pvp reward tracks good ?
It's the same as the normal Lv80 dungeon gear I believe
@Bloom it's stat selectable exotic are the stats less then these armours or something
what is the cheap name for the viper gear?
but Viper and assasin dont have cheaper options? I bought full viper NAMED set.. I'm poor now
Can I buy my way out of this grind?
I don’t see no mention of dungeons! They’re super easy to farm
what armor set is that?
How to do u do that with your mouse cursor?
Hey mate, I run a WoW Classic podcast named Countdown To Classic that sometimes touches on other MMO's, just reaching out to see if you'd ever be keen for an interview on the show re: GW2 and the potential GW3 news, if so, let me know, would love to chat!
Yo man - totally down! Shoot me a DM on Twitter (link’s in description), happy to chat! 😄
i am new to GW2 i crafted all my own Ascended gear within 30 days of starting. It was very confusing to even get my head around at first but i pull up the wiki an followed that step by step. Also got every mount in that 30 days bar the turtle, that wasn't out at that time. Busy busy mth indeed.
Sadly lost me at 'Heart of Thorns', maybe mention somewhere that this excludes free-to-play players?
What a nightmare...
there is no E in bits
Ok great but what outfit is this
Maybe the REAL best gear was the stuff we didn't know what tf to do with and trashed along the way :')
Do you still play New World?
So Gold. In GW2 you just buy your gear. No drops from content, just buy it...thats depressing
i was ready to play GW again but because of your video i will deinstall it. I am not gonna do all that just for some exotics. Why cant we just get them out of a dungeon. WTF
jesus fucking christ. got my character up to 80 but man honestly i cannot for the life of me be arsed with all of this xD
In short: Just grind for ascended. It's easier, takes less time and it's way funnier
honestly why is it so complicated! 😂 (new player here)
Hello, is this this video still valid today 2024 or something changed :) ?
Markiplier's lost son?
….. so I gotta go buy heart of thorns now?
Come on man
jeeze this game is way too needlessly complicated
You sound like SkillUp 👁️👄👁️
WAIT I JUST READ YOUR ABOUT PAGE, TOU EDIT FOR HIM!! 😂
Why is pvp bazinga moment jajajaja?
Ugh. I miss the game being fun. This is to much work. But good video.
this might be a bit out of the blue and kinda way off track.
ive been searching extensively for guides and ways to obtain better gear for the gap between 1-80 that is a bit dull with the gear i manage to find and God forbid those gear things actually give me anything better than masterwork that is actually useable by my profession. anyways my question is why is it so impossible to find any guides that have any information that is actually useful before level 80. i see so many new player guides that always seem to just feed you stuff that will help you, once you reach level 80.
How is your UI so clean when you’re in boss fights lmao.
press F11 scroll down one page to dynamic UI you can select via the dropdown menu of various UI elements when they should show up or not
@@wanya6046 thank baby. I appreciate you
While this is a good way to get gear, it is by no means quick.
bloomer coming in to bridge the elitist gap
subs
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand i'm done.
reached level 80, explored the whole base game map, i'm done.
it was fun while it lasted, but i'm not going to suffer through such a terrible end game gearing system.
especially not after coming back from a 4 year hiatus.
Pvp is fun wdym xd
Man, I want to dive in to GW2 endgame but I feel more lost by every guide. Too much information. FFXIV? Knock yourself out, you’ll get gear by doing stuff. WoW? Literally do any PVE/PVP content and slowly climb the ranks. ESO? Oh, you’re CP160? You or others can literally craft/buy something that you’ll use for years then you can focus on monster/trial sets. GW2? Here’s 2 15mins guide that might be enough.
Getting gear in this game
... sounds horrible
That is exactly why people stop playing this game. Simplest things like getting gear is 10 time more complex that it should be with zero guidance how to do it.
