- In this video I take you inside a friend's tuned McLaren 720S for a few hot laps around Monza circuit. This 720S is fitted with a Stage 1 ecu remap by Monza Garage and a custom exhaust system. Thanks to these mods, the car now puts out 800 horsepower!

I was lucky enough to drive a stock 720s for 15 minutes and that thing truly makes you a superhero, I cant believe you can actually just buy one if these things. Ive driven alot of fast cars, but the 720 is the only one that made me feel true fear/respect for it on the track, its freaking confidence insoiring batshit crazy.
Great driving. Insane car to handle I have a 950hp tuned 720s and it’s by far the most inasane car I’ve ever driven nothing comes close to the power and numbers they put down such a great car💚

excellent video, you are correct that this McLaren destroys any car on the track of Monza but there is no point of comparison between the GT3 of natural aspiration with 500Hp and the Turbo 3.8 engine tuned 800Hp of the 720S, greetings from Venezuela

Missed the point. The 720S can do many things. This is just one of them. The fact that it can pass these track spec cars so easily on track and then with a simple change of the cars settings can be driven home in more comfort than most luxury cars, is beyond crazy.

That would make sense if they were roll racing on the highway. But not on a track VS. track based cars that weigh less and have purpose built track aero. This just shows how multifaceted the 720S is. Jack of all trades.

u seem to forget that its 500 porsche hp. a normal car needs at least 100-150 hp more to compete with a porsche.

No it's not. He clearly means the title is stating the obvious. Id be worried if a car with nearly twice the price and twice the power didn't destroy the comparatively cheaper Porsche. If it was a 918 however, goodbye little 720s.

Pretty much! Dragtimes channel owns a a720S and he's raced his car (totally stock) against many cars, that on paper should beat his car and he wins every time. Dodge demon? Destroyed. Supercharged 800hp Huracan? Destroyed. 900hp GTR? Destroyed. The car is phenomenal. In fact I've seen a video of a 720S narrowly beating a 918 spyder in a roll race. It's mad!

They failed to mention it has 720hp AT THE WHEELS!!!
It means it has anywhere between 800 and 830hp at the crank.
So it should be called the 800S.
That's a bit of an exaggeration :) They dyno at 689/690 wheel horse power. The LT version (as in 675LT) will probably have the figure you quoted.

Cars is Fun since when? 458 Speciale driven regularly over here in 40C+ and never had anything overheat, let alone a diff. Same twisty roads I drive, in GTC4 Lusso on test drive weekend at 45C plus and no issues....and yes this is all hard driving.

@@gam88a The 430 Scuderia threw the error code from time to time when I was driving it hard. Researched it and turns out it's a known issue that the diff from the 430 Scud has temperature issues. Maybe that's what he's referring to and maybe they fixed it with the successor. Still no other car remotely as fun and pure as this car. I love it.

The stock 720S was the fastest car that I have ever driven ( in Italy and in that exact color!) by a huge margin! The car is unbelievable light and agile. The power is overwhelming. Even the 600 LT that I rode shotgun in the Nordschleife is like that. I’m a Porsche 911 owner and I know for a fact that only a equally well driven GT2 RS will have a chance! Congrats!

NAFSUCOF-FOCUSFAN NO not true he's highly skilled.. but this car with the power it has vs the low DF you get a twitchy car alot of TC cut this will be increased even more then the stock car as you tune it..The stock car is exactly the same way but in a lesser aspect..throttle a car hard with lesser DF WILL upset it and your TC will cut if You drive with tc on if not then you constanly need to counter steer when you imply throttle in mid corner due to lack of DF.. they kinda build this car wrong it's not a track car at least not to the intent of mclaren wish.. no everyone is upping their game track wise hence why mclaren comes with the SENNA which will be interesting..

Amazing when you realize that it’s a luxurious and comfortable gt car that you can drive everyday and it is dominating the track focused super cars that Ferrari and Porsche have to offer. The 720s is an amazing vehicle.

The 720S already puts out 790-800hp stock. It's univerally known that they producing way more than the quoted 720hp. Every dyno video of a stock 720S produces a wheel horse power result of 689-690. If this is car is tuned it will be producing at least 850BHP. A 9911 GT3 has zero chance against even the stock 720S. The GT3 weighs about the same and has almost 300hp less!
I can't wait for UGR to release their monster version of the 720S. It's gonna be the new top dog everyone chases after.

They really do produce put the baddest cars on the streets, love their work. Unfortunately I have no idea when the McLaren is released, I just assume they're working on it and waiting patiently :)

The new gt3rs are a sexy car but mclarens are my favortite hypercars. Id take the gt3 over a 570s maybe even a 675lt but no way id pick the gt3 over even a stock 720 and a p1? Forget it p1 is my favorite car
I'd take a Porsche over a McLaren as well. I don't really like the 720s styling to begin with. Especially the back. It looks weird and tame to me. And not much aero keeping that 800hp glued to the track. I personally prefer the shape of the 675LT Spider over the 720S. But yeah, I'd take a GT2RS over a 720s any day.
If HAD to pick between a 720S and GT3RS. Then I'd take the 720S, sell it, and buy a GT3RS and the new 2018 Audi RS4 Avant lol.
The McLaren P1 though. I agree that is suuuch a sexy car. Absolutely gorgeous. But I think I would still be tempted to go for the 918 over a P1.
The other thing is McLaren's interiors have always looked quite ugly to me. Porsche's interior styling is much more my cup of tea.
Although I must admit, that bright red interior I see everyone getting in the Weissach packaged GT2RS is pretty hard on the eyes. I know they probably all get it because it's a limited edition option and helps resale value. But If I had the money for one I would just spec it in black with red or yellow stitching. The bright red ceiling liner and pillars just look too much/too distracting to me. And not in a good way 😅

What a dumb title. Given a stock 720S is faster and more expensive than a GT3 RS it'd be pretty shocking if it wasn't "destroying" them on track, especially with a tune and more expenses. Nothing to brag about.

Not true, it's a fine title. Price is only one factor, the purpose of them is another. They are not built to do the same thing. The fact that the 720S can do this on track is just one of it's many tricks. And worth mentioning.
The 720S has the ability to ride like it's in a different league of overall comfort and isolation compared to a track spec 911. Or any supercar really.
The 720S can be a luxury GT or a track toy. Having those polar opposites available in one car is crazy. McLaren nailed it. Can't wait to see the track version of the 720S. Those who say the Senna is a track spec 720S are confused & wrong. The 720S & Senna don't even share the same carbon tub.

When I stopped correctly the last round was one minute and 56 seconds. I was some days before in Monza with my GT3 CUP 2008. The only other car street-legal faster than me was a GT2 RS. My fastest time that day was 1.57. But with very used slicks.

Lovely track, I remember it well on my Atari STE in the early 90's... F1 game... I must have done 1000's of laps... Very fast track, not too technical but extremely fast. McClaren will feel @home here.

No one has raced one against a GT2 RS yet as far as I know, but I'd say unless the Porsche is producing a hell of a lot more than the quoted figure the 720S would be a fair quicker.

What do you mean ? Depend by the driver, in Monza in the same day 2 Gt2rs , one guy run in 1:56 while the second run in 2:02 ...
It's nearly impossible find a Pro driver for a serious test of 2 supercar, and is also pointless coz customers have different driving skills level... and some cars are more difficult to push to the limit...
For example in lot of track days, Porsches set quicker lap times, just becouse they are easier to drive than McLarens, but this doesnt mean Porsche are faster in an absolute sense
David Darmian I didn’t really mean outright lap time as that isn’t easy to judge without someone timing them. It was the fact that this is now tuned and was curious if it was faster than the RS. Mr powerslide lover confirmed the mac was only 2kph faster than him down the main straight.

The lights are not flickering. Just the way camera captures LED lights. Like if you filmed your computer screen...it will show flickering too when the recording is played back.
they ARE flickering. in new cars (at least german brands, dont know about others) if u brake very hard the breaking lights flicker instead of just lighting up like when braking "normal"
