    Although Sawhorse are very helpful, sometimes you have to improvise to get to the right height.
    That no one has invented this before me. If so, write it in the comments. You can adjust it from 80cm to 123cm using the stepless 8cm. They work better than I imagined.

    It's like a cross between a sawhorse and a machinist's jack! Brilliant!

    I might not always be a huge fan of your designs (tastes are different), but I am ALWAYS impressed by your craftsmanship and your engineering! You can make shapes just with your hands and a grinder that I wouldn’t be able to make even with a jig and a milling machine… 💪
    Absolutely awesome!

    Maybe put some holes in the top piece so that a sacrificial wooden top could be screwed to it, for other types of work.

    Another brilliant build Dirk, thanks for the ideas and inspiration, your builds always contain original twists to reliable technology, nothing wrong with that, especially as most of the bought items these days are poorly constructed using sub optimal materials.

    Having the coarse height adjustment in the top part reduces it's stability, which is why most of the commercial saw horses avec extending legs. The fine adjustment is a very nice touch.

      Thank you 😊 yes that was the only thing i was afraid for. That's why I decided to use the tube compartment so that the mechanism would be stable. And it is very stable

    Only one thing.. maybe it was the audio of my phone but... Just in case... During some periods of the video, there was a noisy "biiiiiiip" that was annoying. I don't know if anybody else heard it. If this is the case... Just keep it in mind for future audio edition.
    Thank you and good luck

    Hace unoa días estaba pensando en hacer algo parecido, pero en vez de que sean caballetes mi idea era hacer 4 trípodes que, mediante una barra puedan unirse en pares y formar 2 caballetes, también regulables en altura mediante un sistema telescópico y tuercas. El hecho de hacerlo en forma de tripode me permitiría usarlos individualemente en las situaciones donde no necesito los caballetes.
    Muy buen video

    Very elegant design. That said, wouldn't it have been great if there were a "nut" that you could stick a socket on and raise/lower it with a cordless drill? As with all your projects, I stand in awe of your skill with a TIG torch.

    • @brainsironically
      @brainsironically 16 днів тому +2

      that's what I was thinking, maybe something with a 90° gearbox that points the nut off to the side. great build though.

    Have you considered ball locking pins instead of bolts for the vertical height adjustment? Perhaps replace the fine adjustment turnbuckle with all-thread or an Acme screw rod and a pair of nuts that ride on it. Then you can have a hand crank on the end for adjustment.

    Nicht schlecht. Hab direkt noch ein paar Vorschläge: Höhenausgleich an den Füßen gegen Kippeln (z.B. Langmutter+Maschinenschraube). Statt des Spannschlosses eine durchgehende Gewindestange mit Sechskant am Ende (gleiche Größe wie die Schrauben am Schweißtisch), dann lässt es sich mit dem Akkuschrauber verstellen. Rundstahl statt Schraube als Stecksplint (mit Schlüsselring zum Rausziehen).
    Wie bekommst Du eigentlich diesen quasi schwarz/weiß-Look in den Videos hin? (ist ja kein echtes s/w, denn der Schriftzug ist goldfarben)

    • @TheMetalist
      @TheMetalist  16 днів тому

    Tell us this trick, that everything you own looks like raw metal and there's no sign of oxidation or rust.
    I believe most of us followers would like to learn that. I don't know how it is in your country and if the metal is of the same type, but here, in just a few hours, it's contaminated.
