Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Monk saved a young boy from a life in prison, exposed a corrupt member of law enforcement and got a millionaire fashion show owner locked up for murder all out of him noticing that his shirt wasn't inspected properly.
😂😂😂
Go ahead be bold appreciate it all by yourself
It's a TV show get a life
@@kencarraher35 it's just a comment on UA-cam get a life
@@kencarraher35 Complimenting the writing on a TV show means I don't have a life? Well, best make sure you don't say anything good about any movies or TV then. Wouldn't want people to think you don't have a life. 😂
The fact that she kept his letter and posted in by her workstation is one of the most wholesome things about this scene. People in jobs like this rarely, if ever, receive any words of encouragement or appreciation, and the fact that she kept this shows how much Adrian's words meant to her.
😮😢 ?
,,
How sweet 😢
It’s great how proud Monk is of how smart the Captain is when he’s drunk. He could’ve just settled with him thinking that he was as smart as him, but he chose to point out that he’s smart*er* than him
My favorite solve in the entire series.
“Mr. Monk Goes to a Fashion Show” is one of my favorite episodes because of how happy the ending is with Maria getting her son back and how funny it is with how Randy and Natalie are when trying to be more fashionable.😊😂❤
I also love that it became a recurring thing that Stottlemeyer figures out a key clue/solve when he’s drinking.😂😅
When did Stottlemeyer drinking to solve cases recur?
@@encycl07pedia-Mr monk is up all night
@@encycl07pedia-and in “Mr. Monk goes to Vegas”
@@natsi4748 That was the first time.
stottlemeyer's first reaction to monk helping on the "suicide case" wasn't to think that he wasn't needed or there wasn't anything wrong... but straight to worrying that they might have missed something that monk would point out like it was obvious...😂
Monk can be very kind, the letter was adorable.
Little upsetting that the second half just repeats parts of the first.
@@FrankandRaul yeah, but overall, that act was touching.
He’s actually caring. He’s just sick. Him and Ambrose.
The humor in this series is such a treat.
Like the letter he wrote to inspector #8:)LOl "Sharona was always the victim when we re-enacted" "I'm sure that's why she quit"
You can tell the school one is from an earlier season by how weirdly hostile Stottlemeyer is to having Monk involved at all.
It's not that consistent. A lot of times in the early part of the series he was perfectly happy to get Monk involved, and conversely unhappy later on whenever he realized he would have to cater to Monk's special needs. In this one he's a bit hostile because he'd already reached a conclusion before Monk arrived, but he's also okay with it being overturned.
YES. I hate the first few seasons because of how mean Stottlemeyer is to him. They’re better as mismatched friends
"Don't change anything!" Here, here Mr. Monk
11:45 Poor Stottlemeyer doesn't know how to take the news that he's as smart as Monk when drunk.
It actually shows that he is as inelegant, but when drunk more relaxed and more capable of being observant.
Edit: same with Randy, he is a doofus, but really good at his job when calm and collected and not trying to be competitive.
Well he is less angry and annoyed. 😂
I love how Monk doesn’t get defensive about it. He always actively praises the accomplishments of others
Randy, the correct way to refer to Trudy is: Monk's late wife.
Very impressed with how quickly Natalie goes for the knife when Monk is being choked by the scarf.
She is a badass
That's why I prefer Natalie over Sharona every time
She could have simply removed it from his kneck. It's was literally loosely thrown around the kneck! They have much more easily simply and quickly removed it.
I think it was being pulled too tightly, no give.@@sackettfamily4685
I was not impressed how they ever thought that was a good idea. Having a scarf that long and wrapped tightly around your neck is a bad idea in general, but especially if you are investigating how it killed someone.
15:35 -- Monk is wrong about the "whoever/whomever."
The note begins, "To whomever." The word "to" is a preposition here, with "whomever" being the object of the preposition, and thus in the objective case: whomever.
The writers flubbed and NOBODY caught it.
Cos they have a life
@@MB-dg3lr Well, the writing of the script is the writers' job, and their job is presumably a huge part of their lives. So I am actually talking about that life that you say they have.
@@invertedexistence Tell that to Monk. He would not find this grammatical error acceptable.
But what really makes it egregious is that it is supposed to be a correction of someone else's grammar.
THE WHOLE POINT of that piece of dialogue is that Monk's very special peculiarities make him notice a minor grammatical mistake. BUT IT'S NOT A MISTAKE. Which makes Monk sound like an idiot instead of a savant.
Yes, thank you!
The word who is used as the subject of a sentence whilst whom is used as the object.
"Who is that?"
"That is Mary."
"To whom did you speak about the changes?"
"I spoke to John."
@@UA-camallowedmynametobestolen Boy I really hope someone got fired for that blunder
17:58 of all the cases monk did you however sicken me the most.
Love watching monk again and again.
Can’t wait for the movie!!
Well, don't keep us in suspense, how did you like it?
Somehow the criminals always ended up saying more than they meant to, especially in front of Monk.
Here’s what happened
You all thought you could get away with your crimes regardless of the motive.
But he still gets them and puts them away.
These are some of my favorite solves, however I’m surprised you didn’t include the episode where the playboy kills someone by pinning him underneath a barbell with a large magnet.
10:35 - I'd respond like the casino owner "Where's your proof"?
Doesn't matter, counting cards isn't cheating, casinos can and will eject you if they think you are doing it but Monk's winnings to that point are legally his.
I love this series ❤
When Monk says to Leland "Smarter" than him when drunk I lamost cried...
Andy? I think you mean leland bud
@@chrisramos3454 thanks. Corrected
Amazing
Monk is so good he can raise his bets without getting backed off.
The old guy at the beginning of the second clip. Wasn't he in an episode of Law and Order?
I’m shocked that the astronaut one wasn’t included!
I like when Stottlemeyer says I'm the smartest here and monk says "Smarter!" and Stottlemeyer has a look like, "That wasn't a very smart thing to say"
He didn't say I'm the smartest here, he said I'm as smart as you.
Nah.. it's the realization that he's smarter than Monk when he's drunk as hell..
10:37 monk got the right idea but captain solved the case
Where is the scene with the Captain singing Karaoke..?!!
I hate that Monk is not available on Netflix or Amazon in the PH. Anyone know where I can stream it?
Don't change anything 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why does it freeze
QED: Thus it is proved.
Wouldnt an autopsy of the english teacher show signs of a struggle?
With the last one wouldn't there be prints and fibres on the clock hand? Possibly dust on her clothes from the machine room?
Yes it might. But that would merely indicate where her body was disposed of, not who killed her.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
It's "whomever".
Yep😅oops!
Counting cards isn't cheating if they didn't pay him they'd lose their gaming licence.
I miss Sharona
"Solve" isn't a noun.
Andrew McCarthy. Took me a minute.
مسلسل رائع يجسد فيه شخصية المحقق مونك كمحقق وكأنسان وتعقيدات حالته النفسية بسبب وفاة زوجته
lets go
This was a fantastic show for a few seasons, but then they jumped the shark and Monk became increasingly whacko. The early years with Bitty Schram were great. I also enjoyed Traylor Howard's performance, though she came along as the show was starting to trend downward. Just my two cents...
Fun fact: If you pause the video exactly at the 0:14 mark you’ll notice the last paragraph of the letter that starts with “Your job aptitude…” has a typo in the second line. It has a capital E on the word every. Which is an error Monk would never make…
As careful about details as they were, you'd think they could have written a better letter to "#8" instead of just repeating most of paragraph 1 for paragraph 2.
