What's really funny is the also sell the brown Anole lizards.....I'm referring to down here in Florida.... where they run all over the place. PetSmart selling the little fffers for 8.99 or 9.99 if you want a green one, but nevermind the one sitting on the outside sliding door that one must not be as special 😆 you feel me right? 😆
I just got my veiled cham from petsmart two weeks ago and I bought the cham kit because I thought it would be an okay choice before I can afford to upgrade. Have you seen the veiled chams they sell? I assume her age is only a few months old but I'm not sure. Body is like 3 inches long almost not including her tail. She was skinny when I got her and the workers said she had just gotten to petsmart the same day I saved (purchased) her. I feel like shes starting to widen out (possibly eggs, I saw your other video on that & tomorrow I'm going to buy sand etc). Just trying to be a new, good, veiled cham mommy. By chance how long do you think I can wait or how much time I may have before I switch her uvb bulb and get a taller enclosure? They sure can be pricey. Your videos have also helped a lot! Thank you for your helpful content!!!
Congrats on your new chameleon! I would switch her UVB bulb ASAP and then work towards getting her a bigger enclosure. I have quite a few discount codes/links that you can take advantage of: linktr.ee/NeptuneTheChameleon
I have the repti calcium without D3 and the repti calcium with D3. My plan was feeding him without every time and then feeding him the D3 once a month? Do I have the right supplements? And is that enough?
You will want to swap the calcium with D3 and use a multivitamin with D3 instead 2x a month. Then use plain calcium without D3 on the rest of the feedings. www.neptunethechameleon.com/supplements
Any particular reason you don’t recommend the wood ladder? The Cham I took over care for came with one and I use it affix other branches, as I have it hung on the side, from his basking height down. I bundled up the first several branches to make a more stable top branch, that he frequents. Just want to make sure I’m not endangering him in some way. Thanks! Love the channel!
Just make sure it doesn’t have any rope since the rope could rip out their nails. I always prefer natural branches and live plants so it mimics their wild environment.
Thank you for posting this video, big help! Are there any decent treat bugs for a baby chameleon that you know of? Thank you again for the awesome and informative videos!
You’re so welcome!! Wax worms and small superworms are great treat bugs for a baby chameleon. I’d wait until a cham is at least 6 months old before feeding hornworms since they get big really fast.
You will also need to provide proper UVB and temperatures during the daytime. Without proper UVB and supplements your chameleon is at high risk for developing metabolic bone disease.
I’m curious about your opinion on r/chameleons, maybe sometime you could go through some posts and see if their advice is good or bad? A lot of new keepers rely on it
I have tried posting my videos there before and they have been removed on multiple occasions. In my experience with r/chameleons, along with hearing from other people's experience, it can be pretty brutal toward new keepers and not very open to the idea that there is more than one way to successfully keep a chameleon. The group seems to have a "my way or the highway" kind of mentality that makes it difficult for new keepers seeking help and for advanced keepers looking to improve chameleon care and move the hobby forward. I haven't been on there for a bit, so I hope that has improved and people can get the help and community they are looking for.
@@NeptunetheChameleon interesting, thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve personally seen people discourage the use of T5 UVB. (Sure, sometimes T8 is better but scaring people into not using T5 seems counterproductive) They heavily discourage misters and especially vets (Even exotic vets that know what they’re doing) personally I think that their advice can be harmful but I wanted to get your opinion
Do you have a buying guide from Amazon or any companies where we could save $$$ ? I know the big box stores are in the business to make money regardless of the health and well-being of animals.
21:30 The flavored calcium is good for crested geckos and gargoyle geckos. I have a crested who would never eat bugs with me but I got him to start eating with that exact brand.
That's what I have is a baby veiled chameleon. Not even 2 in long. Named him Waldo, (Where's Waldo) familiar with raising different geckos but chameleons are a new thing for me
I'm still trying to figure out a good drain system for my enclosure. My plants and pots are in the corners and on the walls, and at the bottom I have a big bowl to try and catch some water. Most of the water when it mists falls off all the leaves and goes straight down to the bottom and doesn't collect, and would drain out of a pan I have under the cage. It works, but I feel I could put a plant on the bottom to catch or most likely move the mister to the back corner. The basking spot is at rhe front right corner I didn't plan that out well. Probably should've put it in the back.
Here is a short video I made on my drainage system: ua-cam.com/users/shorts__HUmXJmfEc and here is my video on how I recommend to set up an enclosure: ua-cam.com/video/n2H-VubFs3A/v-deo.html
I don't know why, but many of my chameleon breeders say that wood-eater larvae (Zophobas morio) can be dangerous to your pet and should be crushed before serving. What do you think about it?
What’s the difference between a forger and a mister also if the tongs are plastic would I be able to feed my chameleon with that? And wouldn’t some of those cages be okay for smaller species some species.

Unfortunately the bulb you have now is not okay for a chameleon even with your branch being close to it. Since you will need to get a larger enclosure soon, I would go ahead and get the correct UVB bulb now and you can run it diagonally or have it go over the edge a bit in the meantime. Very frustrated with petsmart lack of items for chameleon
Certian petsmarts tend to certain animals. Pet smarts had everything ive needed
