I’m the grandson and son of the second largest potato producer in the north east. You can cut your seeds with only one eye. Dig your furrow 6” to8”deep, put your starter fertilizer in the bottom of the trench with a systemicide to control nematode and Colorado potato beetle larva. We used Temik but I understand it has been discontinued and is highly toxic. I got diarrhea from it being being a smart-aleck 17 year old. Putting it in the sidedress boxes on our 4 row Potato planter with bare hands. There are other options that are less toxic I hear. Cover the fertilizer and systemicide with about an inch of soil. Plant the seeds on top of that and cover with loose soil. Lightly water but leave the soil loose. After the plants come up hill them with loose soil or compost. After they come through that, sidedress them with a high nitrogen fertilizer (chicken manure is a great source for this). Water the potatoes with about 21/4 inches a week for optimal growth. Make sure to keep them hilled to prevent them from getting sunburn and turning green. More water means a larger potato. Good luck with your next crop. Signed, The Spudman.
My dad planted potatoes in old tires stacked up to harvest we just took off tire by tire and it was so much easier than digging. Also the tires helped keep some heat in
I really enjoyed your potato harvest video. It was lovely to see the kids involved. Many children think that veggies come from the store. Yours are blessed!
Love you garden especially these potatoes and I love potatoes ...good taters anyway you fix them I will eat them...yum 😋...great job Tiffany and your family on growing your own potatoes....
Hey Tiff,I had my husband to come look at y'all's taters and we both said y'all must have some good soil there,Y'all got a lot of big ones,we love taters,Wyatt is talking so good and next year Fletcher will be there talking to!
When you pull up a healthy seed potato w/ roots (+baby spuds !!) .. Plant back into the ground & trim off all green. You'll get a 2nd harvest w/ no effort. --💌🍒
That was so exciting, watching you harvest the potatoes. With everyone pitching in, and Wyatt bringing his tractor, it made quick work of it. You got a good amount, and will taste far better than anything you could buy. Have a wonderful week 💞
Hey yall ,I'm so excited,. I planted vegetables also but they are not ready yet. Collards, bell peppers, tomatoes, green beans. Cabbage and Cantaloupe.😊❤🙏 Ms. Ruby

Do you make your own compost? This soil looks like it's high clay content, you'll get more potatoes by adding organic matter to it like compost.
Yes, we added composted a few times. We would alternate hilling with compost and just soil kicked up from beside the row.
Great job. That’s what’s bad about the Yukon Golds. They are not big producers ! Good taters though.
Don’t throw away the tiny ones. So good to cook with green beans..
WOW, you really do have hard soil. Good harvest though!
WAY TO GO TIFFANY AND JUSTIN...STTB
Silly question. Can you replant those seed potatoes. Or do you start fresh?
Did you find out what variety of red potato you planted?
Great haul of taters 😂
When is a good time to harvest maybe like 4 months of growing?
Congratulations on all the taters!!
