This song always reminds me of my little brother, Eddie. He passed away at 41 from drug addiction complications. Sweetest guy you'd ever want to meet, but his addictions got the best of him. I miss him every day.

@@HisseyGyatso Fernando same here when I hear this song. I think of my good friends who didn't make it. R.I.P. Eddie , he's not in pain anymore. He sounds like a great guy. Hissey, life does go on. I didn't get clean until I was 38. I chose life going on but in a better direction. Hopefully you find that direction too.

My condolences. I have lost a grip of people also to drug addiction. I was addicted to painkillers and then heroin from 2006-2012 and I went to over a dozen rehabs to get clean. I’ve been clean from dope for over a decade and I know just how extremely difficult it is to get clean especially from opioids. Sorry for your loss.

This song is absolutely crushing. My fiancée loved this song, and after she passed away at age 27 in 2012 I heard it again on the radio, and it very nearly put me in the grave with her. To this day it still puts a big knot in my throat. Miss you every day, sweet Bethy. Thanks for sharing so much.

From the 1990 album, "Skake Your Money Maker", this beautiful tune was written by Chris Robinson, that was inspired by a heroin using goth girl that he knew from home.
The accoustic beginning, driven by the bass line, with such riveting descriptive lyrics, joined by the organ and drums punctuating the sadness of the situation, deliver an incredible message with great vocals. One of their best songs. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Robert. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Yeah, but i did read that he just sort of imagined the background of the woman, didn't really know the details and she may even have not been an addict, sadly of course later he learned of the issue all too well with having the same problem himself

this song is so haunting. a woman who it seems has been so addicted and so close to death that she can see and hear the angels around her. I imagine her family has abandoned her. and that she lost a child (a little boy) and since then she has been alone and withdrawn.

90's is an era of great music as we don't have from 2000's great composition lyrically, musically n dude some great vocals a sample Black Crowes and I'm proud that I'm of this era...got so many options like if u don't like lyric can go to vox or bass or axe or skin lots of options whereas in today's music they have one or two lines of powerful music n lyric then they don't give crap about the whole song... this is the condition of today's music a big zero😢😢😢

Good stuff. Black Crowes have an amazing Sound.
I was lucky enough to see the Black Crowes Open for Jimmy Page & Robert Plant at The Greek Theater in LA in the mid 90’s.
    What a Treat.

I seen them in Phoenix in 1995. It was the Zoso Tour. That summer my friends and I went to a lot of concerts. Seen Korn open for Megadeth on the “Youthanasia” Tour. Then U-Fest with Korn,Ugly Kid Joe and Goo Goo Dolls. Ozzfest and then Metallica. That was a great summer. I just graduated high school and was going off to college at the University of Arizona in the fall.

A truly brilliant song full of depth lyrically and a minimalist but perfect composition musically. Not to mention perfect vocals... It was a time when you thought they don't write them like this anymore and there it was 💜

My daughter lost her battle to heroin in 2014. I don't think it's possible to understand the pain of losing a child unless you've experienced it. Aside from laying across her chest, feeling her life leave her broken body, telling her 9 y/o that her mommy is in Heaven was almost as hard.

Ah, interesting to make the connection between angels and death (obviously a sane one); I’d always considered it evidence of her delusional self confidence, that she was someone to know because she talked to angels, ie, she had an in with the Fates. I totally missed the addiction vibe, but of course pulling the shades down and the pain coming, is strong evidence for that. That’s why I like these videos-songs I’ve heard 100 times (and this one on MTV for sure that many) and still I can hear or learn things about them to make it fun again.

hey Harri. you remind me so much a good friend from Ghana, Bismark, that´s his name, you talk like him, look like him except the hair😇, who worked with me for more than 15 years in Holland.
You have good musical choices and taste.

You’d love the song “Blindman” by Whitesnake. From 1975 to almost 1985 Whitesnake had a completely different lineup (Except for David Coverdale) and had more of a Blues Rock sound. If fact some of the biggest hits Whitesnake had with the 1987 album and later were remakes from the earlier albums. I actually liked the original band best. “Blindman” is a very special song. It’s one of my all favorites. Once you hear it, you’ll know why. It was on Whitesnake’s 1980 album Ready An’ Willing album. ☮️
