Ok guys Sargent Rock here, great game! heres some suggestion, on a beach assault get those guys out the beach and into cover as soon as possible, even if it means passing those bonkers and securing one side of the table from behind. try to separate units more and practice breaking clusters of men from behind hard targets by pressing with indirect fire. also Rallying troops is easier now as you roll to remove pins on your base moral so don't let your troops sit around collecting pins they will cripple you in the long run. also learn how to use smoke to move, it really helps. also do everything you can to keep units always moving forward while moving cover to cover. its all about maneuvering your troops for the shot even with pins. sorry got a bit carried away there. you should really try out small book camp sessions with say two squads with an officer and a mortar team, it will really help you practice using indirect fire and smoke. I love to watch these game. hope you keep them coming Thanx!
For the mine field. i would have the British side conceal a roll every time someone moves on the beach. If the movement was in fact in the mine field and would have set off the mine then reveal the roll to the German player. This way you never know it you are in the mine field until a mine goes off. Might be more overhead but it will keep the German player guessing. :)
Man it's been a while since we had soldier cam Ben :) One small issue is the kit has got bigger and is a little big to be zooming around the tabletop. Must look into this more though :) Thanks for posting mate Warren
Greetings. Love watching you guys play this game. One thing the defending troops should start the game in ambush because they can see the Germans coming long before they get to the beach. I would like to see you play this using the Chain of command rules
Old video, but I just think that it would be more "realistic" if attacking side would need as scenario goal to empty and keep empty those bunkers - instead of trying to control them, while they cannot even use them (you can only shoot from them to beach side). It would make more sense, and it would change bit more the dynamic for tactics (not having situation where both sides avoid going in. Invading side probably just want clean up those bunkers to send more troops through that section of the beach).
great video guys glad to see you guys putting the correct rules on screen....love seeing you guys play bolt action! just one suggestion why not use the rules from battleground Normandy for mines to make it more interesting?
You could have shot and the Bren carrier with the squad and possibly pin it since it is an open top vehicle plus the squad inside would also suffer possible pins.
Thanks Benjamin! Yeah we hope it makes things a little clearer for folks and they can enjoy the 'Let's Plays' for the fun they are meant to be :) Cheers Mate Warren
Great battle as always. I've just bought the BoltAction starter set because of you guys. A while back you did a video about the BoltAction Dads army set. any chance you can do a battle with these please ? would love to see Jones take on some German paras
Where did you get your terrain/bunkers etc. from? P.S. great work with simplicity in terms of showing us the rules - this helps as I'm currently making FOW rules with elements of Bolt Action mixed in! Very helpful!
Yeah tried doing that myself for the tanks in FOW, they feel like such paper mache constructs, but I like the infantry rules of FOW. just gotta use smaller lists or more infantry heavy lists.
With V2 rules, the autocannon on the Luchs would have used the small template against infantry. Also, there was a LOT of potential HE in the water for the Germans that could have been used against the British infantry to potentially devastating effect...
Ohhh! Great Tips, thanks for those, now just the challenge of making sure we spot them next time! Warren Runs of furiously scribbling in a notepad lol ;)
I think that's the infamous "Poundland Toy Train" set, usually found in the UK around Christmas time in budget stores. It's somewhere between O and OO scales, maybe S scale or possibly a little bigger, but it's pretty much spot on for 28mm.
They can if they have a hull mounted MG. Tanks with coaxial MGs in turret can either shoot their main gun OR the coaxial AND use the hull MG to fire at a different unit (if they are within firing arc which is 45° to left and right).
The tanks are the correct scale. They seem small if you are used to 40k vehicles. Also, the infantry has the fat hands and big heads that plague most 28mm minis, so they also make you think the tanks are small in comparision.
I love this stuff, play games like these regularly, and I’m 42. Do what you enjoy and tell people they can piss off. Don’t take anyone’s crap, ever. You don’t need approval from clueless little mutton heads in order to do the things that you enjoy. They have no power or control over you unless you allow them. Just go play games and have fun.
dont let that bother you. Im 52 years old and love this stuff. I also own a lot of guns, hunt , fish, camp, and served in the Military. I do what I like and I dont care what others think about and you should do the same.
It's no more sadder than following and watching football. Don't follow like sheep just do what you want to do. You only get one life. Live it and I'm 58
Guys more close ups again please. I can see a battlefield but get into it really as i would like without close ups.

Enjoyed these last two bolt action vids. How about using the hand held cam for some action shots?

I love the bolt action videos! Please keep making them!

did anyone else giggle a little seeing where justin put his minefield compared to John, the coincidence was too funny
Are the bunkers classed as buildings meaning you need sixes to kill instead of normal wound rolls? Same as the gun shield rule?
You could have shot and the Bren carrier with the squad and possibly pin it since it is an open top vehicle plus the squad inside would also suffer possible pins.
that new intro is really good guys. it will definitely help out when just looking for let's plays.
Thanks Benjamin!

A very nice game. And thank you for the corrections this time. You should try this scenario ones more with less armor.

Runs of furiously scribbling in a notepad lol ;)
Don't forget you can't shoot within 1" of your own troops. Lots of firing by the Shermans over the heads of their own men.
Of course you would turn around the table instead of switching player positions! :D
Where is the train from? Is it 28mm or just HO scale? And what about those tall masts???
More bolt action!
great game
Loves your videos guys, keep it up!
:D
Is there naval artillery? Airstrike?
Where do you buy the gaming mat from??
What if this game had been played with konflict 47 miniatures and rules instead?
It would not have been called "Let’s Play: Bolt Action Beach Assault (Game Two)" ...DOH!!!!!!!!
yes some more konflikt 47 games would be a great watch
brilliant boys
How much is these sets? They look AWESOME and I will DEFINITELY buy some!!!
Dude with the black shirt looks high af :D
Jolly good show, gentlemen!
Thanks Tobyn!
Again a question... WHAT SCALE AND MAKE ARE THE TRAINS?
O scale I believe. they're 1:48 scale which works for 28mm.
www.urbaneagle.com/data/RRconvcharts.html
I don't think so, because in UK and Ireland, "o" scale is 1/43 and those models are definitely not that large
I think that's the infamous "Poundland Toy Train" set, usually found in the UK around Christmas time in budget stores. It's somewhere between O and OO scales, maybe S scale or possibly a little bigger, but it's pretty much spot on for 28mm.
This is a toy train set we pick up around Christmas time from a store called PoundStretchers here in the UK mate :)
That sounds perfect and looks about right scale.. Thanks
Can the tanks not use their machine guns to target the infantry as well as shooting at the enemy armour?
They can if they have a hull mounted MG. Tanks with coaxial MGs in turret can either shoot their main gun OR the coaxial AND use the hull MG to fire at a different unit (if they are within firing arc which is 45° to left and right).
Love the videos, but battlefields with dice bags on the game table .... tut tut! 🙂
Remember that the SMG has the assault rule; therefore, no penalty for movement!
I would like to play this game, but i got no one who likes this kind of games (board/stratergy games)
why are the tanks so small?
The tanks are the correct scale. They seem small if you are used to 40k vehicles. Also, the infantry has the fat hands and big heads that plague most 28mm minis, so they also make you think the tanks are small in comparision.
the bunker gives no protection ?????
How many money for a table like this ?
Here you go mate: www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-beach/

To bad I get made fun of because I like this stuff *im 15*
Wow. Well being good at this game means you can lead people to victory and are very strategic.
