This is our staple household chicken curry now. I once tried a Burmese Chicken curry at a Burmese home and have been trying to replicate it since. This is absolutely that curry.. Thankyou. Everyone in our house loves it.
I love this recipe, for as a single parent of 2 boys, simplicity and nutrition are combined in this appetizing dish with complexity at its best. Thank you for your craft.
yep the ingredients are pretty much authentic. masala is optional to be honest. in terms of preparation, we’d marinate the chicken in tumeric and fish sauce first (or salt but fish sauce tastes better) pound ginger+onion+garlic together. saute it all together. add the paprika. add the marinated chicken. no water till this stage. just prep the meat with oil and spice in low heat. when the chicken changes color and looks good. add water and let it sit for a while and put the potatoes in. i like my chicken curry watery and i cook the potatoes until they’re almost disintegrated. lol my mom likes all the water gone with much more oil. this is like the very standard version of a lot of burmese curry. it’s very simple. easy to do and so delicious!
Always makes me happy to watch your videos it makes me think of my mama and i have tried several of your recipes and it has that local taste and you have that flare. Take care Aunty
My grandparents were Burmese and they used to cook this whenever we visited. They used to add chicken stock gradually rather than water but other than, this is very close to what they used to do!
I was taught by several Burmese cooks and everyone has a different style. My husband was Burmese. My children and grandchildren love the food. Fortunately I learned a lot.
@@HawaiisPickleLady Yes, I've tried everything except the mango thoke as our store never has the right mangos or they are too ripe. We have an entire stock of laphet 😆 It's so addicting.
looks like fast curry if you have all the spices ive never had burmese curry but will try it one day gotta look for the garam marsala thanks for showing us how to make it

Yes we do that too here in the Phil’s. Yes this Lady has a cool voice, no trace of chinese accent. Amazing😍
That's because I'm from Hawaii and have no accent.
