    #3 Nice job. Thanks. Thonglor is my favorite area.😊

    Great video Cal. I never realized there were so many affordable options even in the very ritzy parts of Bangkok. You forgot the wall test on the last condo. 😁

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  8 днів тому

      Definitely. I’m learning here as well. Lot of hidden older condos that offer good value. Sadly my sd card deleted a bunch of video and that included the wall check 😂 I added a note there at the end that it passed… good walls there! Cheers

    Great advice on always doing the walk yourself, from the condo to the BTS station, and around the neighborhood, in general. The listing might say 5, 10 or 15 minutes walk from point A to point B, but it makes a big difference if you have to cross several busy streets, unshaded in the hot sun or uncovered in the pouring rain, and/or deal with uneven sidewalks with large holes, obstacles such as electrical poles, and esp. soi dogs.
    #3 is the winner here, although those older aircons are indeed problematic. #2 is too small, for the price, with the stairs, laddar and shelves cutting into the usuable downstairs space. #1 needs a complete upgrade/renovation. All 3 units are not really competitive with units from earlier vlogs. Just my opinion, ofc.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому

      Yeah the walk is critical…. Can really make or break quality of life in Bangkok.
      Thanks for your input! Thonglor is a pricy area so the location factor effects the price comparison with earlier similar budget videos. Cheers.

    New subscriber and I love this series. Currently living in the philippines and considering 1 year in... Thailand. I currently pay 1200 usd per month for a large house but I want to live in the biggest, nicest, and closest to the train condo I can get for that or up to 1500. That said I liked the last one best for size plus modern"er" best. Do you assist or refer for a foreigners relocating to the heart of bangkok?

      @thebangkokguide  8 днів тому

      Thanks for the kind words. I’d recommend contacting the agency that helps out showing these units as they will be more helpful there. It’s western managed and good people! Send them a message at info@amazingproperties.org and mention the UA-cam video. Cheers!

    I like the 2nd condo, nice design with loft. However, if the size is 500 sq and price under 25,000 baht with less than 10 min walk. I will definitely want to rent 😂😂😂🎉. Thanks for the video

      @thebangkokguide actually I like to see some cheaper condo / apt without swimming pool and gym within 10 minutes walking distance BTS under 15,000 bahts or less. Hope you will make some video later

    The last one... Crazy price, how is that even possible?! As Stacy Martin likes to say. And I like the first balcony view, but I need a second bedroom for an office/studio

    Hi Cal. Nice video.
    #3 is a no brainer for me. The room size and layout is a Goldilocks (between #1 & #2).
    My only complaint is a shower setup inside of a bath tub. I am not a fan at all. As an older person, having to leap over the tub to get inside and take shower (possibly more than once a day) is a major hassle and can be risky (slip and fall). 😅

    • @practice4089
      @practice4089 9 днів тому

      Don't leap...dive! 🤣

    Nice work Cal as always. 👌
    On one of your older episodes, you gave the advice of approaching the juristic offices directly, in order to see a wider array of their inventory.
    Does that approach work well with the newer modern, ultra luxury condos or do they suggest you have to use an outside agent?
    Cheers mate.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому

      Yeah it’s still a workable method. Although it isn’t the norm for some of the newer luxury condos… so it will likely be a bit hit and miss in that market segment as it generally depends on the building and juristic office. I will discuss this topic in an updated condo FAQ style video soon that discusses juristic offices, management and agencies as it’s a fairly big topic overall. Cheers

    They all look decent, but I would not want to go down and up stairs to go to the bathroom from the bed. Great videos, keep them coming. Myself, I would like to see what 50k gets in the Ari / Victory monument or Ratchada area gets. Ideally less than 15 minute walk to public transportation and within 40 minutes to a Thai language school.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому +1

      Stairs would definitely be tough for the nighttime bathroom. I’ll take a look if I can find anything! Trying to spread out the areas more. Cheers!

    • @davidvalez2256
      @davidvalez2256 9 днів тому +1

      @ if you are curious what people want, my requirements are a nice short walk to transportation (or at least a reliable 10B moto taxi there), nice pool, a balcony or outdoor space large enough to fit a couple of chairs and a Thai BBQ, thick walls like you said, and minimum 50 sq m. An oven would be nice, but can always buy a countertop one.

  • @drifteratheart5996

    I’d actually be ok in something like #2 but might have to hang a little dresser off the railing. Ha. Saw your comment about 500 for dinner and drinks in Thonglor.. I’m more in the $15-$20CAD camp for a coffee and something to eat. Area might be too fancy for me.. but #2 ..can do!

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому +1

      I was just kidding; although Thonglor is home to a lot of the more upscale restaurants and bars. But it has a good overall balance. The the coffee shop scene is pretty big there too… the overall trendy area 😅

    Any chance of doing a vlog on shorter-stay options, available on a week-to-week, or month-to-month, basis? I've heard that Airbnb is a much more limited option in Thailand, due to laws, and condo building policies, prohibiting short-stay rentals without a hotel license.
    If I were moving to Bangkok, I'd certainly like to find a temporary space to stay for a couple weeks, or a month, while I shop around for a long-stay location. Paying per night rates at hotels is not partcularly attractive.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому +2

      Sure. I have been meaning to do a vlog on short term rentals. I’ll try to put together a video very soon. Cheers

      I used AirBnB for the first 3 years of living in Thailand. I was moving city to city to decide on where to live. It's not an issue if you stay for 30 days. You do need to read everything about the listing to see what utilities are included and any needed deposit. I always picked a place with included wifi, water and electricity in the rent. If a place charges extra for utilities, make sure it is at government rates. Some people try to charge you double the rate to earn extra money off of you.

    Can you feature some condos around the 600-800 cad range. All yhese seem overpriced for what you get

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  8 днів тому

      Yeah you can definitely find cheaper a little outside the center. These all have the location factor that increase prices a little. I’ll gradually move further out as well! Cheers

      Depend on what are you looking for. 500$ per month obviously not, but 1200$ per month or similar it is complety possible, at least that think.

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  9 днів тому

      Probably not happening in Thonglor to be fair! Dinner and drinks will make quick work of the $500.
