In the manga, when Tanjiro woke up, the man inside his dream was forced out. But when he left, he held on to one of those sprites and never let go, so a part of tanjiro would reside within that man for the rest of his days
The era in which Demon Slayer takes place is the Taisho Era. The most important thing that was happening during that era was the rapid modernization of Japan, especially in the bigger cities. A lot of their traditions were getting transitioned out and they were adapting more and more to western influence. Thus superstition was becoming more and more less believed in even in the rural areas where they were suposed at the strongest. That's why belief in the existence of demons was probably kept low. The devastation they sometimes leave behind weren't that farfetched and wouldn't have been enough evidence either in regards of the rural areas, because even back then despite the industrial revolution happening; people still had it common with dying in gruesome ways either by nature or other humans.
Movie was great to show us all of those emotions. But I'll say that movie was great instead of masterpiece. Because masterpiece word has its own value and meaning. Please don't use it as sarcastic manner.
The black sword means that’s the user is unsure of his breathing style like tanjiro he learned the fire god breathing when he was young and the water breathing from urkodaki and tanjiro is unsure because he didn’t master water breathing in it’s fullest potential and he forgot that learning fire god breathing and he remembered it when he fought the lower moon five Rui
He was, that's why you can notice inconsistencies in the background. Like the people sleeping all being awake in the next frame, the conductor materializing out of nowhere to be attacked by the 2nd demon, etc.
Rengoku killing those 2 demons wasn't a dream. Those 2 were the demons eating and killing demon slayers on the train. We already saw the first demon Rengoku defeated was at the end of season 1.
That was just a sneak peek in season one. The demon didn't appear in the Manga earlier before the train arc just like in season one. The fact that the scene cuts off right unto them sleeping really tells us the fight before that was a Dream. The Movie slightly mixed up the Scenes but in the Manga, Enmu States how it is a Blessing to die in a Dream, once again hinting it is a dream.
No they weren't. Did you even watch the movie? Lower Moon 1 explained his ability, the conductor punches the ticket and the technique ACTIVATES. The moment the conductor punched their ticket, they felt the presence of a demon because of the technique. It's faint because it's long range and the demon/s were there to lure them into thinking everything was still real. The spider demon isn't even in the manga. If you look at when the conductor arrives, the people on his back are already asleep and that's why on the scene where they fell asleep, they were on the same seats.

it is still heartbreaking to me that even in Rengoku's sweetest dream (one that is so happy it would lull him into eternal sleep), his father still doesn't believe in him.
Yep, that first fight was all a dream! Edit: This next part is only a spoiler if you plan to read the manga, but is one of the many things they don't elaborate on in the anime. (I really think they should, because it takes out guess work anime onlys have to do) It's explained in the manga that Rengoku has no reason to kill a human, so he doesn't kill the girl, but the girl is restrained and can't escape or kill him, and it keeps them in that standstill. And also, when Tanjiro woke from his dream, it forcefully ejected that guy, but the guy held on to one of Tanjiro's sprites so when he woke up, that piece of Taniro's heart became part of him. He quite literally had a change of heart.

You can't share dreams - they obviously weren't asleep when fighting those demons. They fell asleep as soon as the ticket punching thing kicked in, which was exactly when you saw it happen.
When Rengoku says "Umai" i.e delicious it was not random, actually in old Japanese culture the soldiers were taught every bite of food before war, for it maybe their last.

I just realized that the Rengoku ancestor was to first to learn the sun breathing from Yoriichi although since he couldn't master it like the others it becomes a deprivation from it so he turn it into a Fire Breathing then the Rengoku family pass on the knowledge of history about the 1st powerful Sun Breathing technique ever existed and about Yoriichi who wears the Hanafuda earrings those who uses the Sun Breathing

That is why they have to hide their swords. Only goverment authorities in position held the rights to wear or bring a sword. They are not goverment recognized organization.

But the conductor said he put them to sleep when he stubbed their tickets and the demon said that his spell is activated as soon as the ink on the ticket is damaged so how did it all of the sudden not work on them until they fell asleep of their own accord

If you want to go into it, in the scene where he actually stamps the ticket, everyone else starts off asleep, then the ticket gets stamped, the light flickers and all the people in the carriage except Rengoku, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and the conductor disappear. We also see how no one's dreams change so drastically in location and/or content later, and it would make no sense for that to be an exception. It does however make far more sense that the train demon brought along two others for the demon slayers to kill so that they would relax and drift off to sleep under his spell more easily. Also, the wiki states they were real, and I'm going to believe it over you.
