  • I've been dreaming about the Tool Grid system ever since I saw it at SEMA. I was going to just order the entire line and figure it out myself, but Will and Chris offered to come down and help me walk through all the products that I'll be using to redo the drawers in my wash bay. This will be available in the OG store very soon!

    These organisers more than pay for themselves when you only have to invest in half the cabinetry. What a setup! 👌🏻

      Absolutely agree, especially because you can't just buy one more Drawer, but you're forced to buy an entire Cabinet. Great product, and I can't wait to place an order.

    Your excitement is contagious. Seriously though, someone else said this is like adult LEGOS. I'd get this set up just for the sake of organization and eventual reorganization. It just seems like I'd have fun with it.

    Fantastic system! Actually made up for the older gentleman who I assume is the creator. He's about to get spanked with orders thanks to Matt. I've actually seen another garage guy showcasing this too so SEMA worked out really well for them.

    I started playing around with my drawers sometime after dinner. After getting things vertical and stable with some wooden shims I gained about 1/3 more space... at 1:30am.

    Matt, I appreciate the candor and that products like this show what Obsessed Garage is really about. It’s not the cars or building cars. It truly is about Obsessed Garage, organization, tools and products that go into an Obsessed Garage.
    Keep up the great work! Someday I hope to have an Obsessed Garage with some fun cars and projects.

    Best thing ive found for the small ignition wrenches that was in the pouches is that I got the small metal trusco brand tool boxes. I got one for metric and one for sae.

    I was skeptical at first of this system. I really like the look of the foam, but the ability to compress the space down so much really is a game changer.

    Now what you need is an app that would optimize layout based on the collection you present it with. Make it a web app. It would help sell a lot of organizers I bet...just a thought. You base it on circuit layout cad apps that already do it for ICs and components on PCBs - maybe... You could also sell pre-designed layouts - wrench layout, socket/ratchets layout, etc. Lots of cool possibilities! You could partner with tool makes and sell pre-outfitted tool chests based on profession/uses. Endless possibilities.

    I wonder about two things: Could you screw these with a drill ? By hand it will be a nightmare
    And could you put a smaller board on top of the main board to be able to take off an entire section of tool of the drawer, in case you need to for travel or events.

      Obsessed Garage I’ve found them on ebay... can’t find any “kits” so piece by piece is the only way I’ve found it... don’t wanna get it off the Matco truck because that seems like it would be way too expensive as I was planning to organize both of my boxes and possibly my roll cart. Heck, I could get lucky and be able to condense both boxes to one... maybe trade in my 26 inch craftsman box on a nice roll cart... if I’m lucky I can catch a snappy cart on there, lol... is there a better place to find them?

    I love that set up. You will save a lot of room. But I like them to be in order if I leave room here and there that's what I want. The way you had your tools displayed with the foam is good but not flexible. Vertically with the putty knives is perfect but, need to be alone side each other in ascending order.
    I'm with you on replacing the tools that don't look alike in some of my tools. With this system. You could have the latest Hyde putty knives not the most expensive but the best. When you open your tool chest you have the flexibility to have the best of each type of tool. When something better comes, just reorganize..... Shit. I will not be sleeping tonight. What a great set up. "The more LEGOS you have the more possibilities". Sleep well my friend.

  • @Piglet6256
    @Piglet6256 4 роки тому

    I was thinking, what if you could snap those blue wrench holders onto eachother?? the need to be a bit wider and need 2 or 3 pins on the board.
    Cos lets say you need to take all the metric wrenches, then you could just take them all out at ones (like the holder they were in before) and take them and put them back in afterwards. That would mean that the wrenches need to be clicked in there or use magnets! Cos now if you need to take all the metric ones out you would have to put them lose in a bag to take them to the HQ for example (not that you would need to, but some people take theyre tools somewhere else). Feel free to use this idea, i would like a cut offcourse :)

    that price seems a bit steep, seems like these are parts that people could easily 3d print for themselves :D

    • @MrWhiteguy6
      @MrWhiteguy6 4 роки тому +3

      Printing one part would take a couple of hours, taking into account one drawer takes like 50 parts... You know where I'm going. Yeah of course this is much more expensive than foam, but it's much more adaptable and way less time-consuming.

    • @niklasxl
      @niklasxl 4 роки тому +1

      @@MrWhiteguy6 true, but if you print a hole bunch at the same time you dont have to do much work just let the printer do its thing ofc molded plastic is a lot better to make at scale would be interesting to see if Matt could get the price down by placing huge orders, i think a hell of alot of people would be interested in this at a good price :D

    • @canadian5095
      @canadian5095 4 роки тому +4

      Very reasonable pricing I think. These guys have done the r&d and testing to get these things dialed in. You are going to design your whole own system that will work as seamless as this and looks as good. I highly doubt that.

    • @Tanner731
      @Tanner731 4 роки тому +2
