this video was very helpful! I was wondering do you have one for Vitamin C serum with preservative? I was hoping to make one with a pure oil and some preservative to elongate the life of it at least one more month
Hi, although I am not affiliated with this channel, I can tell you that you will need to stabilize your vitamin C serum to increase the life shelf, as vitamin C oxidizes at a fairly quick rate. You can use Leucidal SF complete as a preservative, there are other great preservatives you can research! To stabilize, use ferulic acid, and pure vitamin E. Water is a solvent for Vitamin C, but not for ferulic acid. So, if you buy ferulic acid in powder form, make sure you get an appropriate solvent (there are different kinds you can research). Also, you will have to emulsify the Vitamin E, as vitamin E typically comes in oil form. You can buy an electric emulsifier, or you can get these really cool emulsifying wax beads that do the job for you. Make sure your Vitamin C serum makes very little contact with light. Store it in a dark bottle and keep in the fridge. Also order some PH test strips. Vitamin C, being an acid, can really irritate the skin (ever got lemon juice on a cut? ouch). You can manipulate the PH level simply with baking soda, but there are other things to balance ph that offer benefits for your skin as well. Hope this helps!
