I always thought that because she she asserted herself as the headmistress Hogwarts never actually considered her that, which is why not only was she not allowed in the headmasters office she also never got a portrait. According to the school she never earned it...

the headmaster portraits containing memories from the pensive would be an interesting theory, because all the headmaster except Umbridge (who never got a portrait) had access to it, and the headmaster portraits seem much more alive than other living paintings
It's always cool to see how similar their answers are before they actually reveal it to each other

That makes the most sense 🤔 but I love the idea of a special paint made out of the memory strings one can put into pensieves

In relation to Ben’s question about if a headmaster gets a portrait when they retire, I feel like the better question is, do the headmasters ever retire? Or do all of them just die? With how badly Hogwarts is run and the amount of deaths, I would not be the least bit surprised if there’s never been a headmaster that retired, they’ve all just simply died.
I looked at some of the books that mention previous headmasters though not all occurrences some fan wikis and Wizarding World, the only reference to retirement of a headmaster I found was about Dippet but it was a newspaper easter egg in one of the movies so may or may not be canon. Given lack of evidence to the contrary I think it is for life, unless the ministry sacks you like Lucious attempts in book 3.

When Umbridge was locked out of the headmaster's office, was Dumbledore in there? Or, where was he when no one knew where he was? All of the damage from Dumbledore's "stylish" exit had been repaired when Harry went there with a port key, from the MoM.
I think since the office won't let her in we can assume the office is kind of magical in a way where it can keep people out and also repair itself. Unless McGonagall or Filch was allowed access to fix everything

Theory idea: magic works like a muscle group and can be manipulated by things like adrenaline, that’s why Harry and everyone else never use the motions for spells in high stress situations and just point and scream. What do ya think?

I haven't started this quiz yet but as i commented on the hardest harry potter quiz from like 8 months ago video( starts with description of voldys wand) the new way they do sponsors now is so much more creative and better. So how do the portraits works? And what would have happened if Voldemort made one into a horcrux? Would you have to destroy every frame he has or just the first. I think other than that it would work just like riddle's diary. Just remembered that you can go into paintings that are not your own like the fat lady hiding in the savanna picture. How would you kill him and would he be able to cast spells?
I'd assume the physical frame and canvas is the horcrux not the painting on it

if the headmaster portraits are painted ahead of time how do they look just like they did when they died, like age wise? or was no one ever headmaster long enough to have aged enough to tell a difference? or do they have to keep painting new ones ever so often?
They're moving paintings, it's not that much of a stretch to say they probably age at the rate as the person they are a painting of.
I always assumed that a portrait would appear magically the second they died

11:00 I always read it as being the precursor of Wizarding Photography. Like that there was something in the finishing that brings the portrait to life, be it in the canvas or paint or just the act of being Done or hung that brought them to life.
