But yeah, Snape surely would have warned Dumbledore about the potion if he had made it. And usually, Snape would come up with a way to counteract any magic that he invented.
I think voledemort definently did it. Im relieved because at least this theory has some evidence behind it compared to all of their videos from the last two months which have been honestly garbage but yeah its definitely more probable voldemort made it and im disappointed they didn't address that
Another point in favor of Snape not making the potion was with all the behavior it had, reliving worst memories, an unquenchable thirst, refilling if not consumed (though that could have been the basin). If Snape had made it, even with no idea how it was going to be used, he'd know it was something unique and would have told Dumbledore about it.
Kreacher having to test it in the cave is indeed a strong point that the potion was created there, or at least the last ingredient was added there so it worked as intended. And Snape not telling Dumbledore that he made this super rare potion.
A name of the wind podcast would be amazing. Not sure if they mean the same style but I'd be fine with a read along with theories or just rants about different theories. I had to do a podcast assignment once and recorded talking with my friend about our head canons
I think Snape was most worried teaching occlumency to Harry because when Harry penetrated his mind he was most concerned with Harry finding out dumbledore's secret that didn't come out till deathly hallows 2. If Harry had found out at that stage, and Voldemort would have read Harry's mind l, it would have ruined all their plans and exposed Snape to Voldemort of his true allegiance
Yes. It was. Although not with the original scene the OP mentioned. So I suggest actually reading the books before making a complete clown out of yourself next time.
I don't think Voldemort has a defined rank or hierarchy for any of his Death Eaters. There is no actual "right hand DE". At most, he just has DEs that he values more than the others at any given time and they can fall from grace or rise in value according to his own whims. After all, Voldemort only trusts himself, and he doesn't show any real care or regard for anyone, except maybe Nagini. Even when he killed Snape, Voldemort saw it as a necessary sacrifice to gain mastery of the Elder Wand and while he claimed to regret doing so, it was only in the context of losing a "useful tool".
Ok, but he DOES trust the death eaters. As they say in the video, he trusted Bellatrix to guard the cup and Lucius to guard the diary. It didn't work out in the end, and neither of them knew exactly what they were guarding, but he did still utilize his death eaters to keep him alive

Thought. What was Voldy doing with the necklace between when he made it in the late 40sish to when it went into the potion in 1979? Was Voldy just walking around with a locket for like 30 years?
I just want to let yall know that better help isn’t really the best platform to be sponsoring… they’ve been caught doing things that hurt the people trying to seek help… 😢
I want to know who refilled the basin after Regulus takes the locket. It doesn't refill after Dumbledore drinks it. A couple of comments on this theory: What was protecting the Horcrux between its creation in the 1940s, and the late 1970s? Was it just in the cave with Inferi, or somewhere else? Dumbledore states that the potion was to incapacitate the drinker, not kill them, so Voldemort would be able to question them. Without the potion, there would be no need to approach the water, and so the Inferi would be avoided. Even if Snape didn't know what the potion was to be used for...he still knew he had created such a potion, and could warn Dumbledore that he might encounter such a terrible potion at some point.
I would love if you could add some kind of visual timeline onscreen when you do these kind of analysis because I really struggle to keep track of all the different years/dates so i kinda lose the plot
Nice video, nice moustache also. Two things i'd like to point out, 1. i guess malfoy was always a zealot about blood, trying to seem and feel more important (lets not delve into the whole making of the pureblood families and when it happened, they are all most probably not 100%, anyway) and so he came to have some status, money and influence (through inheritance). Other than that the man never shows any skill, not for magic, not for intelligence. He is cruel when he can be sure of his position but... completely incompetent for the most part and Riddle must have known it from the start. I just bugs me a little. 2. Snape creating such a potion. Definately, and you made great points. Not knowing how V would use it? Sure. But it was certainly going (and created) to cause pain and torture. So what, he forgot to inform Dumbledore of such a weapon? It would be used eventually, so "Yo Albus (as he usually talks in the books), I made that potion and gave it to V, (or taught him), beware!" should happen at some point...

I've been listening to the Stephen Fry version of the audiobooks and I've gotta say that it's given me a different perspective of the characters. I'm really liking Goblet of Fire. He really gets into the characters! I like Jim Dale too, but it's fun to hear a different interpretation.

⚠️Off topic from video, day fourteen of asking for what ifs⚠️ 1: What if Dudley went to Hogwarts? I think he'd be a Hufflepuff and be pretty good at defense against the dark arts and I think it would be fun to have him be good at divination cause none of the golden trio are good at or even seem to respect it. 2: What if Aang died with the other Air nomads and one of the other main characters eventually became the Avatar? I think the most interesting would be Sokka and Zuko. 3: What if Prim became the Mockingjay? The only way I see this happening is if Katniss gets caught hunting and either gets killed or sent to the Capital and becomes an avox, a year or two before Prims game so she gets some survival skills not as good as Katniss but better than nothing.
Would Voldy ask a rookie Death Eater to create something THAT important when he trusts no one? And wouldn’t Snape tell Dumbledore that he made such a powerful potion for Voldy? Seems like a big deal to make a unique potion for Tom and not think that’s important. Also, Muffliato, Levicorpus and Liberocorpus are hand-written in the potions book but the only one that’s actually accredited to him is Sectumsempra. Meaning he could’ve learned of those spells and written them down to practice. It’s certainly a lot of fun thinking about the events of the first wizarding war, though.
Kind reminder, because the last couple of videos have given me a huge headache. Don't forget to record room noise and remove it from the sound during editing! The humming during all the J clips in the last few videos is painful

At this point, Id be a little off put if the mustached disappeared. Now that it's there, it's always been there. It's supposed to be there, its nature.
I don't think Voldemort would need anyone's assistance in creating a potion e.g. his resurrection potion he creates only needing Wormtail because he couldn't do it himself physically.
I have a theory I hope you read: So Slytherin's locket showed Ron his greatest fear and potential despair which was Harry and Hermione together, right. But maybe that was just him attempting to create such such a thing. So to get to the point mabye Slytherin passed down knowledge of how to make and use the potion either through the locket or told from generation to generation. Hope you see this!❤
To add onto the Horcrux Protector = high ranking Death Eater part of this theory Snape (and all the Hogwarts Staff) are unknowingly protecting Ravenclaw's Diadem at Hogwarts from outside invaders & has made it his mission to protect Harry (another Horcrux). Also side note Snape has a lot of interactions with Horcrux's during the series: 1) Stops a Horcrux's from killing Dumbledore, 2) Takes the Sword of Gryffindor (a Horcrux killer) from Bellatrix's vault home to another Horcrux. 3) Unknowingly is protecting Ravenclaw's Diadem at Hogwarts. 4) Is killed by Nagini another Horcrux. 5) His only purpose in life is to protect Harry a accidently created Horcrux. 6) The Cursed Necklace which this channel has theorized is a potential Horcrux. 7) Potentially created the Drink of Despair which is protecting a Horcrux. So Snape unknowingly (or maybe knowingly because I wouldn't put it past Snape to have come across the term Horcrux at some point) interacts with Horcrux's a lot.
Voldemort only recently hid the locket in the cave at the time. Otherwise he wouldn't have needed to borrow Kreacher in order to test the defenses, as the defenses would have been tested long before.
Since Snape is the same year as Sirius, and Regulus is Sirius' younger brother, Snape definitely had time to be the one to make the potion before Regulus betrayed Voldemort. We know that Snape was so skilled with potions during his schooling that he was outdoing the textbook to the point of basically rewriting it.

Lately a lot of SCB videos have a very annoying background noise. It doesn't seem to be in the intro so it's probably something the mic picks up. It might be my audio setup that makes the humming sound so clear, but it might be something to look into. Respect for the moustache!
You need to do something about that humming/buzzing sound in the audio-background, it's been there in the last few videos and it's really distracting from otherwise good videos.
There's a common "What If?" trope used in a lot of stories, that has some interesting potential changes in Harry Potter in particular. "What if the main character was the opposite gender?" Usually that would change very little in a story, but it does a whole lot to affect how Snape interacts with Harry (Harriet?), which impacts a lot of the plot. Might that be something for the team to explore further? "What if Harry looked like Lily?" I'd love to see it.
@@captainspaulding5963 Are you saying they already did that idea and I missed it? Or are you just saying "since they do what-ifs from time to time, this is a good one for them to do too"?

Even if we take this to be true, voldemort doesn't need to make him the second in command based on this contribution. If we assume nobody knows about horcruxs, voldemort would just ask (demand) snape or anyone to make him a potion with specific attributes. This is likely any typical assignment they would get from voldemort. The prestige could come from how well it works, not the creation of the said potion. At least, that's what i think.

I had to do a podcast assignment once and recorded talking with my friend about our head canons
anyone else hear a constant hum during the video. Like there is some kind of motor running in the background?
I thought it was my PC fan going crazy until it stopped when they cut away to a movie clip.
Literally came to the comments to see if it was just me
There has been a constant hum in their videos for at least a month now.
Yes, it's very distracting 😢
Seems to be something to do with their recording equipment. Any time it cuts to a clip of the movies, there is no humm.
Films are not cannon. Shapes mind was not penetrated in the books
Yes.
Right. There's not much logic in who Voldy favors among the death eaters and who he doesn't.
Generally agree...but At least in the film he does literally save him the seat to his right though, hence right hand man
@@GeneralMattimo Same in the book.
Ok, but he DOES trust the death eaters. As they say in the video, he trusted Bellatrix to guard the cup and Lucius to guard the diary. It didn't work out in the end, and neither of them knew exactly what they were guarding, but he did still utilize his death eaters to keep him alive

Not really.
I've been here about 5 years. It's a long story, but when I started as a fan, I was in a dark place. Things are so much better now. I think of you guys and this community as "being there" for me when what I needed most was to rediscover my passions and personal interests. Thank you.
Happy 13 🎉
Definitely is. Forcing you to relieve your worst memories must be a nightmare 😨😨😨😨
That's a Tuesday for me.
I don't think it would be pleasant, but unless they're amped, I think most people without trauma or abuse in their past might be fine. I can't really think of anything in my past that would have such a debilitating effect on me.
@@myself0510 Remember that time in the first grade when you peed your pants in front of the whole class?
@@gerardmonsen1267 never happened. I did do that during a Christmas party when I was the snow queen. I was 4. I'm not saying I don't have stuff that would make me ashamed of myself and angry with myself or maybe scared, but I was lucky enough that none of that stuff could stop me from acting.
I do not want to relive all the psychological torture that I have been through until now.
Dude more Snape videos is ALWAYS awesome! Honestly I think Voldy likes him so much is because snape is powerful, witty, smart and most of all, loyal! At least that’s what he obviously wants Voldy to think… feels like he can push all his other death eaters around but not Snape!
Happy Anniversary!!🎉 Only found you guys a little while ago but I've been loving the content!
Do a neville chosen one year 2
PLEEEEEEEEEESEEEEESE
I can’t believe you guys got Tom Selleck RIGHT off the set of Magnum P.I. To do this episode!! So exciting!!!
11:30 I would absolutely love it if you guys started a Name of the Wind podcast!! I have read those books so many times now and i pick up on new secrets every re-read. It would be very interesting if you guys did a similar thing as Through the Griffin Door for these books so that we can hear what you guys picked up on or what we might have missed!
Anyway, congrats on the 12 years! I absolutely love watching this channel and can't wait for more (don't know how to feel about J's mustache tho 😂)
YES YES YES please please please do a Kingkiller podcast!! It's my favorite modern fantasy series, and I've LOVED your theory videos in it so far! Not enough people are talking about it!
100% agree!
Happy Anniversary! loved this channel for over 5 years!
16:38 "It's hard to get good help. Anyway, back to our sponsor, BetterHelp..."
When is this Better Help contract going to end??
They honestly probably have been told to not even acknowledge the length of time, just plug at the beginning and get it out of the way

Happy 12 years.
Please drop betterhelp as a sponsor as soon as your contract with them ends. It has been proven that they're nefarious and not treating their patients correctly with the help they need
Will you be doing a Kahoot quiz on this channel soon? It's been ages.
Thought. What was Voldy doing with the necklace between when he made it in the late 40sish to when it went into the potion in 1979? Was Voldy just walking around with a locket for like 30 years?
that theory that heat treats Neville horribly because the prophecy could and should have been about him is 100% my new head canon
Heat?

I’m totally here for a Name of the Wind Podcast
I just want to let yall know that better help isn’t really the best platform to be sponsoring… they’ve been caught doing things that hurt the people trying to seek help… 😢
Also, I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE a Name of the Wind podcast!!
I want to know who refilled the basin after Regulus takes the locket. It doesn't refill after Dumbledore drinks it.
A couple of comments on this theory:
What was protecting the Horcrux between its creation in the 1940s, and the late 1970s?
It's crazy to me, a long time fan, that this is they're 12 year anniversary!
Nice video, nice moustache also.
Two things i'd like to point out,
1. i guess malfoy was always a zealot about blood, trying to seem and feel more important (lets not delve into the whole making of the pureblood families and when it happened, they are all most probably not 100%, anyway) and so he came to have some status, money and influence (through inheritance).
I’ve been loving through the griffin door 😊 and happy anniversary!!
Happy 12 years, guys! Keep up the great content! Also, Hercule Poirot would be proud of that 'stache

I feel like you should let people know (or maybe not accept their sponsorships anymore) that BetterHelp just lost a class action lawsuit because they were selling client's personal information. This information included Addresses, IP Addresses, names, phone numbers, and medical records (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I got money out of it.
I’ve been watching the channel for about 3 years now, can’t believe it’s your 12th anniversary! Congrats 🎉 and thanks for all the great times!
I've been listening to the Stephen Fry version of the audiobooks and I've gotta say that it's given me a different perspective of the characters. I'm really liking Goblet of Fire. He really gets into the characters! I like Jim Dale too, but it's fun to hear a different interpretation.
Fry is hands down the superior narrator for the books.
Jim Dale's are so good, never heard the fry versions but i can recite some of the PoA from memory almost 20 years later because of how much i listened to jim dale's
Ive always liked Fry better than Dale on this series. Fry’s Hagrid was dead on. Both are excellent in so many ways. But I’m a Fry Guy for this series.
Where do I find Stephen Fry versions? No hate to Jim Dale, I just don't *love* love some of his style
@@A_prostate audible has em now. I got em forever ago from my bro. I usually share the audio files but cant on here and no offense but i also dont know ya. 🤣. Jim is a great narrator but Fry does better voices for HP in my opinion. His Hagrid is dead on. And Jim is a bit over exaggerated on many of his characters on this book. Just what i think. Many agree with me and many disagree. Whatever is better for you , i say go for it.
⚠️Off topic from video, day fourteen of asking for what ifs⚠️
1: What if Dudley went to Hogwarts?
I would love a name of the wind podcast! Please do!
It’s certainly a lot of fun thinking about the events of the first wizarding war, though.
is there any way yall can fix the buzzing??
I’m amazed how after so many years, you guys still can decipher Harry Potter lore. It’s actually very impressive🔥
Your mustache is comin in nice, my friend!
Great video as always. The only thing: There is a humming in the background that you might want to investigate for the next vids :)
Kind reminder, because the last couple of videos have given me a huge headache. Don't forget to record room noise and remove it from the sound during editing!
The humming during all the J clips in the last few videos is painful
Congrats on a completed 12 years. Fun to see how things have evolved for the channel. Also a great watch to go back and see some of the older videos. It would be interesting to see a "Top Ten" for J and Ben on their favorite videos or their least favorite videos.
You NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED to resume your sims series. I’ve been asking since y’all ended. It if you didn’t see it I would watch it.
NAME OF THE WIND PODCAST!!! Absolutely yes!
At this point, Id be a little off put if the mustached disappeared. Now that it's there, it's always been there. It's supposed to be there, its nature.
Happy anniversary!!! Glad I discovered and have now watched this channel for well over 6 years! Thanks for all the videos!
100% name of the wind podcast
I don't think Voldemort would need anyone's assistance in creating a potion e.g. his resurrection potion he creates only needing Wormtail because he couldn't do it himself physically.
Nice video! :)
A big YES to a Kingkiller Chronicle podcast!
"Reliving your worst memories"?
Great, so Snape feeds me that potion every night when I try to go to sleep
I have a theory I hope you read:
So Slytherin's locket showed Ron his greatest fear and potential despair which was Harry and Hermione together, right. But maybe that was just him attempting to create such such a thing.
So to get to the point mabye Slytherin passed down knowledge of how to make and use the potion either through the locket or told from generation to generation.
Hope you see this!❤
Happy Anniversary!!!!🎉❤
To add onto the Horcrux Protector = high ranking Death Eater part of this theory Snape (and all the Hogwarts Staff) are unknowingly protecting Ravenclaw's Diadem at Hogwarts from outside invaders & has made it his mission to protect Harry (another Horcrux).
Also side note Snape has a lot of interactions with Horcrux's during the series:
1) Stops a Horcrux's from killing Dumbledore,
2) Takes the Sword of Gryffindor (a Horcrux killer) from Bellatrix's vault home to another Horcrux.
I'm aware it was a throw away comment, but I would love a name of the wind podcast!

You should really reconsider Better Help as a sponsor.

12 years is insane!!! I've been watching you since I was 5 😂
HEY BROTHER!❤❤❤❤❤
Happy Birthday to the channel! :D
Isn't he too young for that? Like, wasn't it already there when Regulus went there? Also, wouldn't it have been there since the beginning? ❤
he was really gifted though, having invented the sectumsempra spell during his school years
Voldemort only recently hid the locket in the cave at the time. Otherwise he wouldn't have needed to borrow Kreacher in order to test the defenses, as the defenses would have been tested long before.
Did you watch the whole video before Commenting? He explains the timeline in the video
If one team scores a goal, does that make the snitch more visible for their seeker? (My mom’s question) @SuperCarlinBrothers #SuperCarlinBrothers
I don't believe so, though I can see how someone could imagine such a handicap fitting into the game.
Actually when one team scores the snitch is more valuable to the other.
No
@@MrBmnmtfk how do you know? Did I ask you?

Happy 12 year anniversary!!
It's mine and my boyfriends 12 year anniversary today too!! ❤❤ anniversary twins 😊
Awwwwww!!!!!
Think I’ve been following this channel for about 7-8 years. To see the growth of you two as individuals has been an absolute privilege. Not someone who sounds off in the comments too frequently, but I did want to say THANK YOU for keeping imagination alive ❤🪄
Lately a lot of SCB videos have a very annoying background noise. It doesn't seem to be in the intro so it's probably something the mic picks up. It might be my audio setup that makes the humming sound so clear, but it might be something to look into.
Respect for the moustache!
I get it too!
I’m actually hearing it now as well
I noticed it on this video and came to the comments to see if it was just me.
You need to do something about that humming/buzzing sound in the audio-background, it's been there in the last few videos and it's really distracting from otherwise good videos.
HEY BROOOOTTHHHEERRR
Happy Anniversary guys!!! Love Snape, kinda the underdog story. Thanks for this.
And they have a "what if" series on the channel
@@captainspaulding5963 Are you saying they already did that idea and I missed it? Or are you just saying "since they do what-ifs from time to time, this is a good one for them to do too"?
@@riluna3695 I'm saying that they have done a "what if" series, and if they wanted to, they could go off in quite literally any direction with it.... "what if Dumbledore took the Minister job", "what if the Dudleys weren't terrible people"
There's abundance of threads to pull.
@@captainspaulding5963 Yep. So since they like doing that, I recommended a specific thread they might tug on to see what unravels. If I didn't know they liked to do what-ifs, I wouldn't have recommended it. It's a very niche thing to try. Not something to ask of just any content creator.
@@riluna3695 a "what if" scenario is actually extremely popular in any fantasy medium, and your original post starting with "there's a common what if troupe" most DEFINITELY makes it seem like you didn't know they already delved into that particular pool.
Added to the fact that you never once mentioned the series they did in your OP, you can see where the confusion lies.
voldemort did not invent the potion that revived him , he describes it as "- it is an old piece of dark magic, the potion that revived me tonight -"
0:34 There's also the fact that Snape routinely, openly, and unapologetically shows favoritism and there is no such thing as a good teacher that shows favoritism.
He routinely bullies children. If I ever start thinking of Snape as a good person I just need to read some of any book and it's quickly dispelled.
@@Septimus_ii Agreed.
BetterHelp was a pretty ironic sponsorship for this topic
How could you disgrace your anniversary episode with better help as the sponsor? Surely you realize that they're a scam that is out to victimize people in a dark time in their life.
BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO. Contracts are a helluva thing
@@captainspaulding5963 you can always pay out a contract in order to discontinue it. If they had to pay $600,000 to cut ties with better help it would be worth it.
UGH screw betterhelp but I love Supercarlinbrothers so ill have to stick it out but UGH
J's mustache really is majestic!
I wish I had such a good mustache!
Hi
Even if we take this to be true, voldemort doesn't need to make him the second in command based on this contribution. If we assume nobody knows about horcruxs, voldemort would just ask (demand) snape or anyone to make him a potion with specific attributes. This is likely any typical assignment they would get from voldemort. The prestige could come from how well it works, not the creation of the said potion. At least, that's what i think.
Didn't we establish that Lily was the one gifted with potions in another video? And Snape learnt to impress her? All I'm saying is maybe we should be looking at the person we'd least suspect.
But if it is a failed potion. What if snaps tried to make a potion that makes one relive their happiest memories and then created the opposite.
@@ked49 Not a bad idea but the potion being unable to be removed, passed through or altered makes it feel intentional
Happy 12 yrs! Glad to be along for the ride. Your Snape impression is my favorite after the Chudley Cannon song. 😂
I really wish y'all would stop letting BetterHelp sponsor videos. They're actually really shady and aren't nearly as nice or helpful as they seem. They sold people's HIPPA-protected health information to advertisers (without anonymizing it) just to make some money.
I get that UA-cam is your job and sponsorships help pay the bills, but please do some research into who you accept sponsorships from. BetterHelp's failings and issues are well-documented and easy to learn about.
Your moustache is reaching 'average 1970's American private investigator' levels, congrats.
Now that we've all been refunded from the lawsuit against betterhelp can yall move on from them as a sponsor or what
There was a lawsuit?!?!😮
No, they can't. Not until the contract is complete
If a company that's been sued can't be a sponsor, then there can be no sponsors at all.
