The Iron Mutt would be pretty much perfect if the total length was about an inch bigger. Such a great looking clip-point blade and a great looking knife all around. My Damasteel Sweeny just arrived today... speechless. As a relatively new collector it is currently the most expensive knife in my collection and well worth every penny!

I have the Sweeney, it is awesome. My three little criticisms: opening hole too close to the scales, tip that can be touched (if you try) while closed, blocky backside of handle especially the upper corner can start rubbing the palm. But these are pretty minor and the knife is great.
yeah i personally dont have any of those issues, the hole is super easy to get to for my hands, and i cant touch the tip at all im sitting here trying, this is def going into one of the best knives of 2023

Picked up a Damasteel Sweeney from Matt himself at CCKS this past weekend. Absolutely love it. Seen plenty of people sing its praises, and decided to go all in. Awesome to meet him in person. Spent a good bit just talking to him. For people wanting a larger Iron Mutt, he mentioned he is thinking of redesigning the Iron Wolf. 👍

I don’t know how I got so lucky, but after I received the Damascus Sweeney I bought directly from berg blades (bc it was the only Sweeney I could find anywhere that was for sale new or even used) I was shocked to find that I received #1 (bc he numbers his knives internally on the backspacer). So happy I listened to the hype and got this masterpiece bc it’s one of the best I’ve ever felt.
That being said, my titanium iron mutt was pretty disappointing.
But berg blades fully redeemed themselves with the button barber which is easily the best button lock I’ve ever handled by a country mile(ironically I got #50 of the button barber which is the last one in the run for the titanium satin sku I chose. I didn’t ask for the first or last or anything, just weird serendipitous and fortuitous surprises.
I got my Sweeney the minute they dropped. Such a quality knife.
Ok, I have only one question...will you be selling used knives ?
By that I mean LNIB, BNIB, NIB, and gently used knives.
Because almost everyone in the knife community that watches your channel wants to buy or sell gently used knives along with new knives...just something to mull over.

is there a chance you just got a really good example of that knife? I mean they did send it to you. I know that with even very high end knives you can get a great example and great detent but all the others may be different.
no because ive watched multiple videos on them and my partner has checked out the ones on the site so i think it will be consistent and everything ive tried from this company has been consistent

I didn’t like the iron mutt. It was uncomfortable to disengage the lock. I also had to be cautious when flipping it or it wouldn’t open all the way. The knife just didn’t seem like it was worth 300. Returned it and got the giant mouse tribeca
Maybe you got a bad one, the ones I've tried had good action, I kinda wish it was larger personally

I'm not sure if I said best ever, I know I said it's in the list for the best of the year, then there's best from that company or designer, there's a lot of best, for instance if I said the Hogue deka is the best Lightweight knife that doesn't mean it's the best hard use knife, there are alot of bests however there's also alota crap I call out. I'm usually pretty clear with my wording

good, i wouldnt say they are the best acoustics but it doesnt sound cheap thats for sure
The first one looks really good. The second one's OK.
BUT: Their logo is bad AND way too big. On the first one, it ruins the look for me. It should be shrunk to like 20%. And they could put it on the clip instead of the fromt side of the blade. Even if it was a better looking logo.
But I really think they should hire a good logo designer and have a clean and recognizable logo made, that even looks good in a much smaller size.

yeah its is, however knives get much much much more expensive. this is a premium knife so it has a premium tag
@neevesknives love your videos. Question: I was (am?) planning on grabbing a Sweeny at his drop later this month. BUT, I recently bought a couple of Lionsteel fixed blades for this summer's vacation and I discovered their Lionsteel 'Skinny' integral flipper. Very similar dimensions and profile to the Sweeny. Honestly, the blade on the Skinny speaks to me more than the Sweeny, it's gorgeous. The Skinny is also an integral that come in Ti or Al. They are about $240 and $140 respectively at Chicago Knife Works. I am curious if you have checked out Lionsteel's Skinny and how you'd rate it compared to the Sweeny. Lionsteel fixed blaed are amazing quality and design for the money and are made and designed in Italy. Reate also makes a great product and I've known David for years and have zero problem with Chinese knives depending on the maker. I own a few Reates. Love to see you compare SWEENY vs SKINNY! Thx.
Yes I recently posted a video on the skinny just a few videos ago, and while I do like it the Sweeney is better in most ways
