my favorite part of Cawl is that despite being a fuck-ass insane mechanical abomination full of several millennia-old consciences and being a genuine contender for the smartest man in the galaxy he's a reasonably nice fellow as far as 40k standards go.
He even feels guilt about the fucked up shit he does, he doesn't stop, or hesitate for a second to do it again if he thinks it's necessary. But he does know it's messed up.
I love that Cawl is so confident and optimistic he doesn't even worry about the ship of Theseus issue, he just says "no I'm Him" and goes about his business

@@jerzyksudak945 for the chaos marines it's not actually that because most of them have been whithin the Eye of Terror, thus warp-ruled space and the concept of time is very random there. Many chaos marines have experienced just a century or two since the Horus Heresy, some experienced a few millenia but not much more. So unless they're HEAVILY mutated by chaos they wouldn't be able to still be alive for 10 thousand years (and even then it would mostly be the ones corrupted by Nurgle). One of the best example for that is when Sigismund fought Abaddon and died, he was more than a thousand years old, quite weakened, and Abaddon had pretty much not aged a day since the Heresy by comparison.
The Ship of Theseus analogy I'd say if anything makes him more human than human. That's literally how our minds, how our consciousness works. We add pieces to it constantly as we absorb new data, and we can forget things from it, when we recall data we literally experience the pattern of neurons that were there before, that data is momentarily gone from hard storage in that spot, and then we re-write it to the same spot, with added connections because we now associate it, at least temporarily, with when we just recalled it. @@tarektechmarine8209 bruh, if we take a far conservative estimative he had finished the primaris project about 1000 years before guiliman ressurection it would still mean he could get about 900 armors per year, that is absolutelly nothing wen you take into consideration the size of the imperium, which is about half the galaxy at that point in time, you may think 900000 equipment is a lot but within the magnitude of the imperium it is nothing, hell he could fabricate those equipment himself at this rate, he would certaily have mining and forge equipment on his ships to do it personally with that amount of time, not even accounting for his personal fleet crew, 10000 years is a lot of time to get the resources necessary ingot by ingot, the way you say its as if calw completed the projects within one week of awakening guiliman and did so without any kind of equip at his disposition and had to rush for a emergency cargo haul at a discount

Stumbled across Cawl in one of the very late Horus Heresy novels "Wolfsbane", and i find it interesting that he basically took the body style of his old heretic boss by the time the modern era came, despite having started out viewing that remaining mostly human was important

I have always loved the idea of admech, and was given a small Ad mech army as a birthday present. I absolutely loved Cawl as he represented the extremeity of what Admech is. Now i love him even more because he is the best inventor and respresentation of "I think, therefore, I am." And Dr Hyde "I need to know. I will go where no angel will go."

For Cawl on tabletop, he's currently the only way to get rerolls for vehicles, so combined with the BS and weapon buffs the Cawl Castle is kinda back in force. Three neutron lasers and a smattering of laser chickens surrounding Cawl, throw in an Engineer or two for those sweet sweet 5+ fnp saves, and you're laughing all the way up the board. If you wanna be extra spicy simply hold still and you'll be hitting on 2s rerolling 1s, and one of the Skitarii Hunter enhancements let's you choose any Skitarii unit to have both protocols active so you can throw that onto someone as well for the added AP. Overall Admech can actually be quite spooky again and it feels wonderful
I like to think Cawl keeps the Gene Seed of every primarch, in an archaeotech GE refrigerator, in what was once an employee breakroom. No one knows about it because no one is allowed to take breaks in the Imperium.
It might be good to note that none of the Primearchs have any issue with new technology, its just a cult mechanicus thing. Caul has also been alive longest so he can calm anything as old tech and none of the cult can really challenge him, especially since he doesn't share how he got the plans to develop anything
I really wanna see a Salamander Techmarine! I dunno if theyre a thing but I feel that the chapter that has the most appreciation for crafting armor and weapons would want the admec around.
In my only war- dark heresy- imperium malecdictum campaign, party have made friends with a group or death watch marines. We have a white scar tech marine that just loves souping shit up to go faster.
I dunno if anyone else has pointed this out, but, the Marine next to Cawl on the Great Work cover is just a Scythe of the Emperor, not Alpha Primus. Primus is like 9ft tall and has silver unpainted armour like a Grey Knight

@@jerzyksudak945 for the chaos marines it's not actually that because most of them have been whithin the Eye of Terror, thus warp-ruled space and the concept of time is very random there. Many chaos marines have experienced just a century or two since the Horus Heresy, some experienced a few millenia but not much more. So unless they're HEAVILY mutated by chaos they wouldn't be able to still be alive for 10 thousand years (and even then it would mostly be the ones corrupted by Nurgle).
One of the best example for that is when Sigismund fought Abaddon and died, he was more than a thousand years old, quite weakened, and Abaddon had pretty much not aged a day since the Heresy by comparison.

@@tarektechmarine8209 bruh, if we take a far conservative estimative he had finished the primaris project about 1000 years before guiliman ressurection it would still mean he could get about 900 armors per year, that is absolutelly nothing wen you take into consideration the size of the imperium, which is about half the galaxy at that point in time, you may think 900000 equipment is a lot but within the magnitude of the imperium it is nothing, hell he could fabricate those equipment himself at this rate, he would certaily have mining and forge equipment on his ships to do it personally with that amount of time, not even accounting for his personal fleet crew, 10000 years is a lot of time to get the resources necessary ingot by ingot, the way you say its as if calw completed the projects within one week of awakening guiliman and did so without any kind of equip at his disposition and had to rush for a emergency cargo haul at a discount

For Cawl on tabletop, he's currently the only way to get rerolls for vehicles, so combined with the BS and weapon buffs the Cawl Castle is kinda back in force. Three neutron lasers and a smattering of laser chickens surrounding Cawl, throw in an Engineer or two for those sweet sweet 5+ fnp saves, and you're laughing all the way up the board. If you wanna be extra spicy simply hold still and you'll be hitting on 2s rerolling 1s, and one of the Skitarii Hunter enhancements let's you choose any Skitarii unit to have both protocols active so you can throw that onto someone as well for the added AP.
Overall Admech can actually be quite spooky again and it feels wonderful

It might be good to note that none of the Primearchs have any issue with new technology, its just a cult mechanicus thing. Caul has also been alive longest so he can calm anything as old tech and none of the cult can really challenge him, especially since he doesn't share how he got the plans to develop anything
