Great reaction! My band loved playing TVC15 at bars in East Lansing in the early '80s. Good times! Have you heard Moonage Daydream by Bowie?

The way David Blends the instruments and the varying of the verses and the catchy chorus and the undulating rhythms and beat changes - the Genius of David Bowie many have not yet discovered or delved into David Bowie’s world - He is an Enigma words do not do him justice !!!

David was so high he thought his girlfriend was communicating with him through the TV. On channel 15.

Although I'd bought the album when it came out, the best live performance of this had to be in 1979 on NBC's _Saturday_ _Night_ _Live_ (with Klaus Nomi) where the surrealism was really out there (among other things, Bowie wears a purple suit with a skirt). He was given slots for an unusual 3 songs ("Man Who Sold the World", "TVC-15", "Boys Keep Swinging"). The censors were so concerned on the final song with taking out the words "pop of the cherry" that they didn't even notice and bleep the inflatable c**k that kept popping out of the puppet costume's pants during the performance (which I suppose is why that song performance isn't on YT), so it went out live on-air. Worth searching for those performances.

Try Width of a Circle live David Bowie and Mick Ronson with Trevor Bolder and Woody Woodmansey and of course mercurial Mike Garson - Ziggy’s final live performance Christmas Eve 1972 London’s Hammersmith Odean - now enhanced the whole concert is an absolute treat and totally unique- well worth a viewing of nearly early David Bowie alter ego at his crescendo best - just mesmerising 👏🥰😎

I would also add on the instrumental the almost old-fashioned piano line that opens the song, continuing throughout the rest of the track. Very unusual to mix that with the rest of the instrumentation of the rest of the track.

It's a saxaphone that David Bowie is playing on the track.

"Surreal" is right! That's definitely descriptive with this track.

Although now that I listen to it again, I'm not sure that's it. It could be a second overdubbed sax again played by Bowie.

The song was reportedly inspired by Iggy Pop who, while hallucinating on drugs, believed that a television set was consuming his girlfriend.

Strange lyrics, huh? Bowie's lyrics can get a little obscure.

Weird lyrics; not too sure myself what meaning they're supposed to convey.
