- Sig just released and started shipping their 1911 .22 LR conversion kit. The part number is CONV-1911-22. The kit includes one 10rd magazine and extra sights. The barrel is threaded and can accommodate a suppressor with a thread pitch adapter (not included).

I have a World War I manufactured 1917 Colt. Still shoots well I would like to purchase this Kit to save money on ammo and also not to apply for another gun permit New Jersey! Which is a ball buster. Would this work well for the original Colt 45. Just a note this was my Grand uncle's gun in World War I.

I know some conversion kits have cycling issues with regular bulk 22 lr ammo. Some manufacturers recommend the use of CCI mini mag for instance.

Is this identical to the GSG 1911-22 Conversion? My Sig Sauer 1911-22 was made by GSG and the slide is identical to the GSG kit.
+Glenn Buskirk I'll have to go back and look at the 1911-22 when I have a moment. I believe it is quite similar if not identical. I'm out of the office sick for a few days but will check when time allows.
Yes the Sig 1911-22 conversion kit is identical to the GSG 1911-22 kit. The only difference is the name on the slide.
the review is very will done all thought it doesn't say or explain if it can be used on a original government colt 1911 or on any other version of the 1911 like a Springfield if any it would have been nice of them to state that in the video
Nicholas Bouldin The parts list close up lists firing pin blocks, so it most likely will not work on 1911's that don't have a firing pin safety.
I think it may work in a series 70 if you remove the firing pin safety from the slide, not sure though without trying it first.
Can you take the slide off the GSG 1911-22 and run it on a real 1911 like a conversion kit.
do you know if the 45acp 1911 slide will work with the 22 frame?
Oh boy.....I imagine it would, but it would stress the fuck out of the frame at some point, and could have some other problems, or it might not stress it at all. I'm only assuming that the frame wouldn't be hardened to the same standards since A) it's .22 and B) it'd likely save money.
That said I think that's a really interesting question, the strength of the frame would be an issue but also the size of the sears and the hammer, trigger, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
