    I have a thought to sell my Roland Cube 40GX because i wanted to buy another small gigable amp. But after i watched this video 10×/12×, i'm still keeping my lovely Cube 40GX amp.

    I just purchased the 80 watt Cube. It quickly put my Mesa Nomad to shame!! No more heavy head and cabinet to lug out to gigs. My bandmates cannot believe the tones that are emanating from this little wonder. It has enhanced my Gibson 335 and SRV Strat to unbelievable quality levels!! So impressed that I returned and bought my brother the 40 watt. Super quality and performance at such a reasonable price. (I play multiple gendres and the Roland Cube 80 meets all my needs) I am a convert!!

    I own one and I love the tones they are amazing! And for you guys who want a really warm clean sound use your solo as your clean with black panel at not even half way and it gives a clean tone that's so amazing and then use your lead button as your solo and the foot switch is WORTH every penny helps on a lot of songs like More and a Feeling by Boston.

    I don't play electric guitar any more but this is the only amp you really need. Don't make the mistake I did when young and immature and buy a fucking Marshall stack (shit and heavy) - unless you are touring and have your own roadies - even then...

    From my bedroom to small gigs, not lie to any 1 here. Yes the CUBE is one of my weapon of choice, while Roland stomp boxes with temptating colors are always the main ammo for my primary (guitar). I use CUBE 15X, and sometimes The JC120 ( this is from around 80's, when my uncle bought this one and believe it or not, this amp is still workin and workin and workin while me and my uncle oftenly abuse it ).
    This CUBE can b loud as hell without punishing the tone from the source. I'm very satisfy with Roland's products. But I hope, I do hope a lot that the newest GX or CUBE series will give us more :
    1. "Tube-Warm" amp sound, just like a Roland Blues Cube. ( what if using a real 12AX7 for preamp )
    2. Maybe adding the presence knob wouldn't b a sin, just for the edge n the transparency, I need that to adjust it directly from the preamp. I love the OD sound & modern hi-gain from the preamp of CUBE... Hell yeah \m/
    3. Why only the micro CUBE have more colors? It would b fun if the GX40 & GX80 have more patterns, colors, or even graphical.
    FX features are awesome, keep this channel for the next product and untill the end of the days.
    Thank you so much Roland and keep up the good work.

    Have the 40gx. The classic and metal stack are not great at civilised levels...below 12 o clock. JC is brilliant. And the rectifier setting is great stuff. There is s lack of brightness in some of the distorted settings that can't be dialled out. That said, these problems vanish at high volume...but as a household practice amp its a shame. No longer made so often available for 150 euros or so.

    Gut gemacht!!!!

    I have a few questions about this amp. I currently use a Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 and am looking for something new:
    -How does it compare as a cheaper alternative to the JC-120? (that's my dream amp, but I'm a broke college student)
    -Is it loud enough for gigging? I need something that can match the volume of an unmic'ed acoustic drum kit.
    -I play a Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster with lots of clean delays and reverbs (similar to The Edge, Slowdive, The Cure, The Smiths, Mogwai, etc). How well would this amp work for that kind of playing? I'm hearing some really decent cleans from this demo video.
    Thanks in advance to whoever answers, I'm not the biggest tech-head out there so any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

    40 GX Footswitch dead?
    Dear All, Has anybody used/tested his/her 40GX's FS-5U input with a stereo cable? My problem: if I momentary shortage the Sleeves and the Ring NOTHING happens, meanwhile if I momentary shortage Sleeves and Tip it switches nicely between the JC Clean and the Lead channels. What can be the problem? The amp is brand new.

    I suppose this amp does not have chromatic tuner? I mean, the
    manufacturer claims that after holding the tuner button it becomes
    chromatic, but how can I tune down to drop c or drop a with no led

    • @jamierowen2030

      Each turn of the dial is for a different note - when it is green then that note is tuned and you turn the dial for the next string.

That and trying to sustain or feedback a note was IMPOSSIBLE because the amps built in noise gate ( that is not adjustable and can't be turned off ) would just kick in and cut the note off !

    • @markgoforth1149
      @markgoforth1149 7 років тому

      Matt, I have a 80 GX and I understand your frustrations. The limitations of having 1 saved preset sound (solo channel) and the other two channels (clean and lead) are only switches and not presets. So the clean and lead channels tones are what the knobs and controls on the panel are set on and the channel buttons for these 2 channels are switches and not presets. The pedal is limiting also, no tap temp or wah effects pedal (exept for more $ for additional pedals).
      I have to admit, the sound of this amp is good. As far as fuctionality, it is outdated and probably why they are closing them out and making way for new technology. I also have a Line 6 Spider Jam which is the ulitmate practice amp. It has all the functionality that the Cube is missing and has good tone also.

    • @3FlyingFarts
      @3FlyingFarts 7 років тому

      Thanks Mark , trying to see which Line 6 that is has all the artist presets but that may be way overboard I am afraid , the more I think about it , the more I think the the KISS theory makes the most sense .

    It is a great amp, and the cube jam app is a great idea, but its shit.... Its volume levels are shit, it makes everything sound farty and shit, it doesn't export songs to its sister app show my music... roland customer service uk is shit, roland have just let this app and feature rot, no updates ever, its a broken feature that roland are ignoring.

      The 40 also only has a 10'' speaker where this has a 12'' that alone makes a huge difference

      I'm actually talking about the brightness in the lead effects. My small old Roland Cube 15XL has a way better metal stack than this one.

      ***** I just got a 40gx and I feel exactly the same. I don't know what they did to the metal stack. It lacks definition at the bottom end. It sounds kinda wooly.

      BDaMonkey Yeah I thought it was me at first you know? To get used to it, but it still sounds kinda shitty.

      Did you ever use the power squeezer function on the older model? I think I overused that, and it may be colouring my opinion somewhat.
