Hi Alan, yes would love to see a side by side age stated whisky series 👍.still got both of these on my shelves.Out of these two I do prefer the Speyburn though,slàinte Alan.
Solid drams. Funnily, I've not owned a bottle of either, despite trying. Currently have a Speyburn 18 on the go! Great juice for the price. Gotta get back to some GlenAllachie soon... been awhile since I polished off my last bottle. Cheers Alan!
Terrific side by side Alan! My preference is the GlenAllachie 15 but they are both wonderful! Terrific video! I need to try and side by side comparison! Cheers! 🙂
Think I’d go for the Glenallachie… but mainly I’m waiting for the Billy Walker distillate to come of age. Also very, very tempted by the Mikel Tor stuff you reviewed in another vid.
That Speyburn 15 is some amazing juice! Great cask usage! Such a beautiful spice from those Spanish oak casks. Cant seem to find it anywhere in my TN market. Next time.I see it, gonna buy a case!
I thought it was just me....8 year old this..5 year old that.......age matters. Very interesting conclusion....the only Speyburn I see around is the 10 and the NAS. Someday the 15 will be on my bar
I have both and there different styles but if i had to choose one it would be Glenallechie. I got the Speyburn for a good price far cheaper than the Glen so you could almost make it a tie. Slainte
I’d like more distilleries to put out AFFORDABLE 15yr-olds as, generally, the jump in price to 18yr is just silly (Bruichladdie/Port Charlotte!). I think the problem might be that a lot of the good integrity bottlers are making stuff that’s so good at 10 years (Arran, Port Charlotte etc) and younger (Ardnamurchan, Kilchoman) that they haven’t got enough left over to sell a core range at 15 & 18. So it’s limited and the prices are… not good.
Tempted to get a bottle of Speyburn 15 but wondering if there is enough uniqueness from Glenallachie 15 and Glen Scotia 15 which I have gone through a couple of bottles of each in the last two years.
Speyburn 15 is $78 US before tax and the GlennAllachie 15 is $100 before tax. The GlennAllachie 15 is so readily available by me. I’ll buy it if it ever goes on sale. I have too much to drink through. The Speyburn 15 I have 2 of in the bunker.
How do you find the Glentauchers 15? 40%, chill filtered and coloured I know. But still!? Great budget dram in my eyes, especially since it is £28 or so here!
For me this year, I’m only buying if a scotch is on sale or something really really rare that isn’t insanely priced. Pricing for scotch in my area in the US is just getting out of hand. It’s minimum $10 per year if something is age stated. That’s even with the independent bottlers as well. There used to be values where a 12-year-old independent bottler was $50 from a good distillery but no longer.
Great idea this side by side series, Alan! I would like to watch a Glen scotia 15 vs Benromach 15 comparation. Slainte!
Your shelves are insane. Good insane! A great conversation here. I think I would lean Glenallachie. No thrills, and tasty! Cheers!
Thanks for dropping by neighbour, very happy with the shelves...and of course the whisky....cheers Jon
Thanks for battling Alan.
Always interesting.
Slàinte mhath
The bar shelves looks really sharp! I appreciate your attention to detail... Whisky sounds great as well.
Great head to head, thanks.
I would love to see Talisker 10, Clynelish 14, Benromach 15 and Glen Scotia 15 🙂

Alan, great seeing these shootouts. Last 15 year I bought was the Springbank. My Glen Scotia is almost gone. Cheers!!
Well that’s it decided. A bottle of Speyburn 15 needs to be ordered 🎉
Wow I really need to get my hands on that Speyburn 15 if it stacks up against the Glenallachie this well! Cheers Alan!

Great reviews Alan! I tend to be a bit of a Glenallachie Fanboy! The newer 15 is wonderful. I have an older one too. Lighter and not as rich. Neal
Great video as ever Alan. Makes me want to pick up both. But having just grabbed a SB 15, I’d be interested to know the winner in a 3 way battle?
