I picked this one up today and I'm very pleased with it. It may not be mind blowing, but it is a REALLY enjoyable dram. I agree with your assessment, which was one of the prompts for me to take a chance on this one. A quality 15 year old for under $70 US, that's hard to beat and it will be a regular bottle in my relatively small collection. Cheers!
Oh wow!! What a score. I found one at my local for $78 USD. I’ll be heading back there to get it. Regarding the 18 year Speyburn. It depends on the price. By me when Scotches hit 18 years plus the prices go nuts. Mic sound was good:
Cheers buddy...the 15 is fantastic and the 18 is also at a very reasonable price here in the UK...both well worth picking up if you can...thanks for dropping in fella...
I’ve just discovered your channel, it’s very good, I’ve been trying malt whiskey for years, but have only learned anything from UA-camrs like yourself, thank you, cheers
Good see see that you like the channel Alfie, however we can point you in all the directions but you my friend must make all the decisions... Do you like malt whisky. Do you like grain whisky, World whisky, American whiskey... Then there ii peaty. Smoky, sherried, bourbons... Its a wonderful journey my friend and I hope I can help along the way... Cheers Alfie..
Would like you to compare this versus say the Tamdhu 15. I thoroughly enjoyed this Speyburn 15. Just waiting for the Tamdhu 15 to come on special ( on 'offer' i think is your expression). Speyburn will win on value I suspect (certainly does in Australia) , but putting that aside I think they'd make an interesting comparison.
Cheers Alan! Just bought this for my parents for Christmas, and they shared a dram with me. I've been dying to try this all year (secretly hoping Santa would drop me a bottle). Oh mama, what a pleasure! I'm definitely grabbing one for myself in 2023. For the price, it's really great. Where I am, it's only $5 USD more than Bunnahabhain 12. Maybe there's a contender for a showdown? Looking forward, I know you're gonna try the Speyburn 18, (stop kidding yourself). I own the Bunnahabhain 18, and I've not tried Arran 18 (word is it's a banger too) so maybe a 2023 head to head to head? I'd love to hear your thoughts before I search out either Speyburn 18 or Arran 18. My budget is tight and the mark-up where I am in the States is more than I want to think about. Anyway, thanks for all your hard work and research! Slàinte Mhath!
I will consider grabbing one if I can find it at close to MSRP. Speyburn 15 head-to-head against the likes of Glen Scotia 15 or against Glenallachie 15 Alan?
Speyburn 15 is really good. I have an open bottle of the 10 but as a travel retail with 46%. I bought the 18 aswell, but it´s waiting to be opened. Cheers
I have been looking at the 18 also, however I'm finding it hard to find value as this 15 is so good and I can't justify the extra £30 for the 18...thanks for dropping by my friend
Hi Alan. I too have recently discovered the delights of the Speyburn 15, just love the stuff. One maybe for you to try is Douglas Laing's Old Particular 15 version, a single sherry butt at 55.2% abv which in my humble opinion takes everything that's great about the core 15 and ramps it up a few levels higher, albeit at the same £55! BTW great chatting to you at the Manchester Festival. Cheers
for me i really like the speyburn 18 more than the 15. but i like both. for me the 18 year is more sherry, darker and more rounded. it has some smoke/leather sometimes. would love to see a comparison here. maybe even a comparison of the inverhouse group products would be cool. for example speyburn 18, ancnoc 18, balblair 18 and old pulteney 18
Hi Alan. HNY. Never had a Speyburn. But as a taste off look for a similar price comparators. Aran the Bodega is circa £55 and significantly higher abv. Craigellachie 13 (under £50) and similar abv maybe and the Deanston Oloroso 2008 which I’ve just bought for £64 again higher abv. Just some ideas for you.
The basic Speyburn is what got me into whiskey in the very beginning :)
I'll try to get one and compare it to other 15 year whisky. Thanks for giving us a guide.😊
Congratulations on the 6k mate. Ticking along nicely. Happy new year

Great review Alan , one I haven't tried yet , but probably my next buy 👍🥃
It's fantastic Neil... Certainly worth picking up fella... HNY my friend....
The Speyburn 18 will be released on December 1 for £76. Should I buy one or two?
Buy a 15 and a 18....
@@thewhiskyfriend the 15 is not available in Sweden so we’ll have to make do with the 18. It’s a great price for an 18yo 46 percenter
Buy 2 then....
Who wins, Speyburn 15 vs Speyburn 18?

18 year olds always win. Those chicks are legal.
how would this compare to the Speyburn 18?
i believe the 18 is dirtier, funkier sherry, not sure if its worth the jump in price....i have a sample on its way...watch this space

No właśnie to dziwne, ale whisky 15 letnia bardziej mi smakuje niż 18 :-) Speyburn, Balblair czy Old Pulteney.
Great score, Great reviewer!
Cheers Heisenberg the support is much appreciated my friend...
