  • This is my team's First robot for the 2019-2020 season of Vex Robotics. This robot was built in three days before the Mark Leon Invitational Tournament in Honolulu Hawaii. We had built other robots, but they were much more ambitious designs that we didn't have time to properly test before the event. The event was super fun and I totally recommend going to it if you can. We ended up partnering with team 4109A from Pearl City Hawaii. They were a great teammate and we worked well together.

    This is like the simple design that a team needs when they only have 2 weeks to build and program a robot

    What of materials are you using to cover those two claws? The black color one. Thanks.

      That is non slip mat. Vex sells some, but it’s a lot cheaper to buy rolls of it from a local hardware store. We found ours in the cabinetry section for lining drawers in the kitchen.

      We used non-slip mat. It can be purchased from vex, or purchased in rolls from your local hardware store. Check the cabinet section, as it is often marketed as a drawer liner.

      I don't really have a set structure, I generally just write either from the chassis up, or in a roughly chronological order.

    • @KeplerElectronics
      @KeplerElectronics  5 років тому

      It’s something that not many people do. The flashy, heavily edited reveals are really fun to watch, but if someone wants to learn something about one of the mechanisms they have to just pause and keep rewinding. The explanation takes more time, but I think it’s a better resource for new teams.

    How do you get the funds needed to make your vex robot's

    • @baaz6968
      @baaz6968 5 років тому +3

      its usually paid for by whatever school u go to if there is a club. but if there isn't a club it's all out of pocket
      for me there is a 300$ club fee then the school pays for competitions we go to. for worlds it cost like 2500$ to go and we fundraised by panhandling to local businesses and i'd say it worked pretty well

    Not your best design, but I bet you can definitely make a better one

    • @KeplerElectronics
      @KeplerElectronics  5 років тому

      For sure, we had some much more original and ambitious designs, but the time constraints didn't allow us to tweak them to being quite as usable as we had wanted, and we figured a simple robot that was optimized would beat a less optimized complex robot.

    • @masonkelly4391
      @masonkelly4391 5 років тому

      Kepler Electronics yeah, that makes sense, how do think this robot would work, a standard base, with a dr4b attached and on that dr4b, we have a passive intake with some intake tread, to make it easier to pick up some cubes and stack them. Thanks, and if you think there would be anything wrong with it, please let me know.

    • @KeplerElectronics
      @KeplerElectronics  5 років тому

      @@masonkelly4391 That seems like a pretty common design. It worked really well at the Mark Leon.
