In this clip, Kool Rock-Ski explained how The Fat Boys linked up with Kurtis Blow in the studio, where they recorded the song "Fat Boys." Kool Rock-Ski explained that Kurtis realized that they didn't know how to structure a song, and he broke everything down for them. He then spoke about "Stick 'Em" being a B-Side track for "Fat Boys," and Kool Rock-Ski detailed how the song was an "instant hit," and their self-titled debut album went gold while they were still in high school. To hear more, including Kool Rock-Ski addressing rumors of a beef with Doug E. Fresh, hit the above clip. - Розваги

I admit, I give Vlad a lot of shit about his brand at times , but I gotta give him props for giving the pioneers a platform to share their history and be seen in today's times . Salute .
All this oral history was about to vanish. Nobody was efficiently and professionally recording this history even in the mid 2000s. Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, yes. Hip Hop? No! I wish we could have had video interviews of Phife Dawg, Guru, Big Pun, etc before they passed.

I never heard Doug E. Fresh's line as a "diss" in all the years I have listened to the song. Both were great at their craft and I like how Kool Rock-Ski clarified what Doug E.more so intended-Although Buffy is beat boxing and the Human Entertainer Doug E. beatboxes, we both have something unique to our style that would distinguish us. Great interview from a legend!
You gotta try to get Kurtis Blow in for an interview

I always took as Doug E. Fresh was saying he is known for his style of beat boxin and Buff was known for his, I didn't think it was a diss cuz both were different styles!!!
Why Vlad always sound like he got a big smile on his face when he asking questions? Like he just got the DEEPEST OF DIRT on someone.
I didn't realize these cats were THAT young when they dropped these classics.
Yea they were teenagers may have been the youngest of their era.
That is crazy!!! I cannot imagine being that young in public high school with a hit record back then. I am really enjoying this interview.

The Movie Crush Groove was the first time I ever saw the Fat Boys. And I remember them standing out in the movie with there unique sound.

When i heard Doug's line on THE SHOW, I just thought it was his way of distinguishing himself from Buff...never knew it was intended as some sort of "diss". And besides, how you gonna have "beef" with The Fat Boys??
I always knew that it was a diss because slick rick was like yo quit it!
I felt the same way, but there is the part where Slick Rick is saying "A yo quit it" in the back ground. That always made think Doug E was teasing Buff.
@@FlyiDCG that was a diss! I think they were hating on the fat boyz

They may have been a gimmick group. But there rhymes was hard and they can flow.
No! They wasn't a gimmick group because they were fat and they was real about it. They Fat Boys had Detroit on lock down. We all were beat boxing and rapping like the Fat Boys in the early 80s.
U must be a youngsta that has no clue on what your saying....lol......the truth is,,,the fatboys were not a gimmick group,,but were very very very popular and liked.....they also were the first ever to go platinum along with rundmc whodini and ll cool J.....also they headlined the first nationwide rap tour ever called the fresh festival....the fatboys are iconic legendary pioneer major factors,,,and u truly need to do your research before u come online spreading falsehoods.....ya dig....
Not really a gimmick because they were fat and rapped about it. Plus they really had bars. I was a kid and saved up & bought that albulm
@@dvaughn5330 They had Chicago and the surrounding area on lock to!
I like to see all these guys talking shit. For the record on 55 years old from the Bronx. Let's start thinking about 1983 and 84, The Fat boys will always lyrical they rhymes was hard. But the fact is they were on the comical tip, playing up their weight. That was the gimmick of the group. But I'm a straight-up fan especially there lyrics there music bops your head. When I say gimmick I mean that was the hook of the group. Like digital underground had their own gimmick. Shit, NWA when they came out had their own gimmick, with the Jerry curls the whole La gang thing.
He has a beautiful spirit!
One of the few shows that gives Hip Hop OGs props.

Them boys could rap! Very creative and tight. Miss their styles.
How come artists don't let these founders do features on their tracks? I've never heard Kool Rock Ski on anyone else's joint and that's kind of fucked up iMO
He did a verse with Chris Rock on I love champagne but yeah pretty fucked up.
Sounds good.., but what new or current artist is thinking " I should record with someone that came out 35-40 years before me? 🤔
Also the style of hip hop is different, and even some of the people we rocked with" Might " come off as dated"
@@billyjacc I'm not talking about new artists of today. Even artists in the 90s could have let an OG get on and spit a verse in a song. But it never happened. The closest I can think of is when Nas made 'Where Are They Now' but that wasn't until 2007
