She's clearly read the official TERF talling points handbook cover to cover numerous times. 🙄 Such a hateful cow. (No offence intended to actual cows.)
for people who are so concerned about trans men "identifying out of the patriarchy", transphobes sure love bringing out the misogyny when talking about trans men.
@@Soredlidead name, and Columbus were two things I never expected to see in the same sentence. Would love to know what you mean by people “deadnaming” Christopher Columbus
Also what i dont understand about transphobic and or homophobic POC. Bigoted POC in general is that they are using rhetoric that was once used on them. Take black women for an instant. White women didn’t like sharing changing rooms/ shower rooms with them and saw them as a threat. Then that same rhetoric was used on lesbians and them being seen as a threat to women and now it’s being used on trans people. What I’m saying is that they’re using bigoted rhetoric that was once used on people of colour and has jsut been recycled to be used on another minority group
28:45 the way she keeps saying "poster child" is INFANTILIZING!! HE'S A GROWN MAN!!!! I just looked it up he's 37 for fuck's sake!!!! 37!! HE KNOWS HIMSELF!! HE TRIED TO LIVE AS A PERSON WHO HE ISN'T FOR A LONGGGGG TIME!!
Not saying she isn't being hateful, but "poster child" doesn't really refer to age, just just refers to a person who represents a group. Musk is the poster child of unintelligent billionaires for example. Not defending her or anything.
I am all for defending Elliot. But poster child is just a (fairly common) phrase. There are variations like "Poster Boy" and "Poster Girl". Which are also young people of that gender.
@@alex-qd6ofFar from, actually. I'm a Canadian and I don't wanna be clumped in with The States. I mean if you look into the current news between our countries, you'll understand. 😅
In her first video about JKR, Natalie Wynn (ContraPoints) talked about how, while trans women are often villified as predators or tricksters, trans men, on the other hand, are more often infantilized. The claim is that they're "confused girls" who were "tricked" into transitioning.
I’m glad she pointed that out, because a lot of people tend to ignore the TERF rhetoric against trans men. The rhetoric against trans women is just as horrible, but we can’t downplay just how much trans men are being affected by this constant infantilisation and disregard for our autonomy.
It's been so long since I've seen that video, that I forgot that point. It's so true though. Natalie is so smart, and I've seen every one of her videos over the years. I'm always waiting for another drop, it always seems like 2500 years between videos. But always worth the wait.
eh, the infantalisation is just one part of it. there's also general misogyny. hell, specific trans man youtubers were painted as predators in a popular terf book about trans men and to some extent afab non-binary people. transphobes also have a weird objectifying entitlement to trans mens' bodies. it's a lot.
They always make a big deal about how we’re statistically more likely to be autistic than cis people when they’re talking about trans men, as well. Probably so they can double down on the infantilisation, maybe throw in a couple of insinuations that ALL autistic people are easily confused adult babies with no autonomy of thought like the poor widdle confused girls who got tricked by the eeeeevil transes. Genuinely makes me want to gnaw through a wall honestly
I cannot watch her…she’s just infuriating. Deliberately twisting everything to suit her own agenda and consistently deadnaming Elliott is just too ugly to listen to.
She's a conservative commentator who's appeared on Jubilee, if I'm remembering correctly. In my eyes, she serves as a beginning point of the right wing pipeline, which is why she doesn't say the quiet part out loud. it's just thinly veiled words
My sister was horribly bullied because she wasn't gender conforming growing up. She turned out to be a cis lesbian. I was horribly bullied because I wasn't gender conforming growing up. I turned out to be a trans woman. It happened this way because I am trans, and she is not. We were bullied because of who we are, we did not become who we are because we were bullied.
Did you know that gender non-conformity is common with homosexuality? Like someone who is homosexual is also gender non-conformity while the maximum amount of gender non-conformity is being transgender but there are several sexual orientation within the trans people. It’s really interesting, don’t you think?
And I wasn’t bullied for my gender presentation almost at all (one kid called me slurs, but there was no long lasting type shit), and I still ended up trans! In fact, my parents never really made a big deal about gender at all though they treated me as a girl, and my sister with a similar childhood ended up cishet. This argument of transness being caused by trauma completely falls apart if you think about it for more than a few seconds.
Every time she said Elliot's deadname I was like 'STOP FUCKING DEADNAMING THIS MAN!'. (inhales) I'm not trans myself but I know some great trans people. Elliot Page is also in my 'list of awesome trans celebrities'
Every voice that speaks up for trans people being treated as people helps! It was definitely painful hearing her continually deadname Elliot, especially when she would use his name and then tack on "or [deadname]", like a person's name is not an "either/or" option unless they have said it is. Absolutely infuriating. I actually wasn't able to finish watching, it made me so mad. I'm trans, and a big moment of my coming to accept myself and actually take steps to understand and confront myself came from hearing about Elliot Page's coming out and, especially, seeing it incorporated in his show The Umbrella Academy. Hearing Elliot's message to his younger self feels a bit like what my not-that-long-ago self needed to hear (still helps to hear now).
I have a friend that dead named her kid and every time I say his real name. It may not change her but it's my way of standing up for him. I could understand when he first changed his name but even then I corrected her in hopes that after 18 years of calling him the dead name maybe it was just memory but he hasn't gone by that name for over 5 years. I just don't get it.
We can understand the first mention, because it's relating to his works (he is an actor, so one of the things people don't think of immediately is that movies are not edited in post to give credit with the new name, they just leave the deadname as is in the credits. Elijah, another LGBTQ+ UA-camr, when she was reviewing Nimona, she was extremely nervous but also extremely respectful when dealing with Nate Stevenson's former works, because one of his big works was She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and he is still listed in the credits for each episode as Noelle Stevenson, his deadname.) So in bringing up older works for public figures, we think it's fine to mention the deadname that they are listed under. It's like how people talking about books mention that the "author" of a particular series is a pseudonym for another author (for example, JKR writes other books under the name "Robert Galbraith" because she doesn't want to be judged on her shitty opinions "but on her writing." So don't read those. 😅) Bringing up the deadname in that case is more for utility, because if you go on Google and can't find all of a public figure's works after transitioning, you can look up their works that are still accredited to the deadname. But again and again without any attempts to focus on Elliot as ELLIOT, that's just disrespectful, plain and simple. -🪼
what I never understand is when a normal cis person legally or socially changes names because they didnt like the name they were born with is respected but a transperson who does is disrespected and deadnamed. There is a double standard people arent really seeing.
@@sharimeline3077 meh, the "nee " is much more likely for celebrities. The first time she did it, i was hoping it's for people who would be more familiar with the name from before the change... But when she persisted in using that name, it was clear what it was about.
She should have just looked at the picture in which Elliot Page shows off his top surgery scars. And see the pure joy and happiness in the picture. It filled me with joy to see him so happy.
She'd just have pulled out her horror and disgust at a 'woman' choosing to 'disfigure and mutilate' herself. It's SOP for these 'I'm just saying' types. She's a TERF for the younger generation: Praeger U isn't even slightly shy about how they're targeting kids from a very early age, and continuing the indoctrination and brainwashing as they mature.
Its not okay to pick apart someone's personal message to their younger self and claim that they aren't sincere, and then the constant misgendering on top of everything is very disrespectful and harmful.
Right. And to add to the awfulness of it, this lady is a right-wing grifter, so her claiming someone else is lacking in sincerity is ironic. She is just indecent and needs to leave him alone.
Jamie you should know, anything from or related to pragerU is going to be awful and hateful. This is Amara who is a well known tokenized black right wing person who works for pragerU
Elliot is everything they claim to be in ”support” of. An adult who made an informed and personal decision to transition. So he can’t be trans as an adult even as they claim that it’s purely concern for kids? Its so weird to completely deliberately twist a videos message to convince others that elliot is wrong for HIS own decision and identity.
@@Xxsorafan And PragerU will happily take the token that she is. But tokens are meant to be spent, and when they're done with her, they will push her aside without a second thought. I wonder how it will feel for her to find out that the leopards will indeed eat her face.
I submit that it's quite possible that she *does* care, because she's just as brainwashed as Praeger wants all their people to be. The money just reinforces to her that she must be right if someone is paying her to say it.
The goal posts are always moved based on where the person they are talking about is in their journey. So if it's a kid or youth, the narrative is, "Kids don't have a gender. Leave them alone!" If the person is mid to late teens or even early twenties, they are too young to know their own mind. They are barely adults. And if they are actual adults, "Well, why didn't you do or say anything when you were young? You must be faking it and/or a predator!" There is _no appropriate_ time to be trans or transition. There is always a reason a trans person isn't valid and they are happy to change that reason to fit whatever circumstances.
Working for one of right wing Christianity's biggest bullies too. And this is the kind of thing Republicans actually pushed into classrooms. Imagine all those kids having to watch this crap. Better yet, don't. I just pissed myself off all over again and I don't even like kids.

Before Elliot came out, he was a widely beloved performer. Just one of those celebrities that was rarely disliked. But as soon as he came out, everyone loses their shit and hates on him. They don’t hate him for anything he’s actually done, only based on him being trans. Transphobes are so wild with their unreasonable hatred.
I love Eliiot so much. His role of Viktor was such a good representation for the transition from female to male in The Umbrella Academy. I’m glad they didn’t change the actor for Vanya and didn’t make him act as a Female for the rest of the show! Definitely my favourite part of season 3. I love that the relationship in S2 and then going back to the right timeline and losing his lover. I love that the show made THAT and the Barber shop window was when he was like “Yeah I definitely don’t feel like what I look like currently” and then the acceptance from Diego Five Luther and Allison. I love that it was instant that they use the right pronouns which probably also felt amazing to Elliot! Sorry for the long comment. Have a cookie 🍪
It was amazing and my understanding was that the producers and writers asked _him,_ "Okay, how do we handle this?" What I found so beautiful about it was how _normal_ it was. This is the Umbrella Academy! Victor coming out as trans was the _least_ weird thing to happen on the show. And the characters treated it as such. Life can be hard and bizarre and down right mind bending... But transition doesn't have to be if there is fundamental support and acceptance.
Nobody reacts to stage names the same as trans peoples name changes. I dont know what Sting's real name is, hes just Sting. Prince was just Prince. Maybe one day itll be that way for trans people too. I hope so. Its such a hostile world for people that are really just trying to mind their own business
I used to know Sting's given name, like decades ago when I worked at a record store. And when you said that, I realized that I can't even remember his given name now. Which should happen with trans people, we should leave the old name in the past and move along. I fail to see why that's difficult.
Sting's real name is Gordon. Prince's real name was Prince. It's not the same thing tho. The name trans people take on IS their real name, it's not a face they're putting on for an audience. What I especially don't think people like this get is that when trans people do make transitioning such a public thing (and it's not everybody, of course, so I'm not saying you're wrong cuz you're not) it's because it's gotta be a big thing sometimes. It's not about "hey kids, try surgery!", it's usually just "there are solutions. I found mine and it's working out. Don't listen to people like this. Find your solution yourself. You CAN do it"
No, I'm pretty sure she is a good person from the centre-right but her fanbase has gone from centre to right-leaning and now she has to pander to them since theyre out of control and also for that PragerU promotion.

Right. It's so cringe. Maybe it's my brain compartmentalizing, but every time she said the name or misgendered him, part of me registered it as a different person from Elliott.
People are like “Trans people should embrace the gift of the gender god gave them!” That’s like saying a person who needs glasses shouldn’t wear them because god have them the gift of their terrible eyesight.
When I first came out, my deeply fundamental, Evangelical sister made some noises about "unnatural." I then pointed out between her and her husband, they'd had every medical intervention that I was going to have. She had had a breast reduction and he had been on testosterone for years. Literally exactly what I ended up doing. (Well, I didn't "reduce." Any more reduced and I'd be concave.) Boy did that observation shut down the whole "unnatural" line of argument.
@@CorwinFoundThat's amazing. Silly cis hypocrites! Also, if they're ever flown in an airplane or ridden in a vehicle that goes faster than a human can run, why are they acting like they live "natural" lives and only do what God intended our bodies do?
No idea why but everyone always assume Elliot looks “sad” or “devoid” anytime they mention him. Like that’s the first they cling to use as a “Ha! See! This is why you don’t transition, they are clearly not happy!”. But maybe it’s just a neutral look? Just how they look? You cant really know someone’s state of happiness without really knowing them after all. 🤷♀️
Something that bothers me is the idea she has that being trans is a “privilege” and an “easy out” for someone’s trauma. It just makes me angry to see the contempt and disrespect she has for trans people’s experiences.
if anything, being trans only amplifies all the issues. that is why we try so desperately to find another reason, we do not want to be trans, that causes so many more issues. the idea that a trans man would transition to "escape misogyny" is baffling. we do not suddenly stop facing misogyny, we face misogyny AND transphobia, and have to deal with our gender dysphoria. i would give anything to be cis, it is not a privilege in any way to be trans.
Jamie is an absolute saint for having the patience to watch this woman and correct her misinformation. Invaluable work but God I'd lose my mind. That was infuriating and im not even part of the trans community. He is SO eloquent.
I'm cis, but when the girl said, "Elliot Page, formerly Ellen Page," I thought it was a bit invalidating. It's almost as if it's saying, "It doesn't matter how close you get to presenting your true self, we'll always see you as the mask you wore,"
Yeah, it's unnecessary. If someone really wanted to know, they could just go to Wikipedia. And that's just because he's a celeb--in truth, no trans person is obligated to make known their old name.

It so annoys me, I honestly wanted to just punch the screen because of all the horrible words she was saying, having literally no empathy for poor Elliot.
I can see the impulse to list a celeb’s dead name in the sense of “this is how they were credited in X media,” but I don’t think that is justification for continuing to enact the practice if you’re not IMDB listing an actor’s name as it appeared in the credits. Elliot is Elliot, discussion over.
Elliott is high-profile enough that there's probably next to no one who doesn't know his former name and movie catalog. I could see mentioning it if someone is obscure, just for clarification, and not continuing to use the wrong name, but not for someone as famous as Elliott. It's just weaponizing their deadname, just to be smug and hurtful. Which of course all transphobes love to do.
@@sharimeline3077- even then, I would say it is only acceptable once, and only once in an article or video about them, after which name and pronouns must be respected. Not this garbage video where Eliot was dead named and misgendered almost constantly throughout the video.

@@sharimeline3077I actually was wondering about that. I didn't know Elliot's dead name and thought it was ok to mention it the once when listing previous works. Not the constant but the once. (I'm not big in movie stuff so I'm pretty oblivious)

Amala is telling her audience about what she thinks about what is happening in Elliot’s mind, while she doesn’t know him at all and is purely speculating about what goes on in his head. How can she say she knows he is lying from a 30-second clip of him in the cold answering a very personal question ? I used to like her when I was a bigot and had a lot of internalized transphobia, I ate the stuff about AGP because it reinforced the preexisting shame of myself. The deadnaming of Elliot really pissed me off. Also, just a small correction to her, in one of the first sentences she says that he's American, while in actuality he isn't American he's Canadian. When you type his name into Google, the first thing that pops up is "Canadian actor and filmmaker." if that doesn't tell how little research was done, I don't know what will.
His book, "Pageboy" is _filled_ with Canadiana. It was actually part of the concept of the book that it would highlight Canadian history and locations. It would be impossible to mistake Page as American if she had read the book. So this person is discussing the internal motivations of a person, passing deep judgement, without ever having read his freaking biography that goes into these topics in great detail. Fine, be transphobic. Be a judgemental dick. But at least be an educated one.
At the most charitable you could say he's from continental America. But that's being somewhat generous. Whether it's technically correct or not is beside the point, in common parlance when someone is American, its meant that someone is from the USA. You could say Elliot Page is a North American actor, that would work.
I don't know who that person is but everything I heard in the first 5 minutes from her made me so angry and anxious that I had to stop the video. Thank you for calling this horrible attitude out.
That brash and ignorant young woman has obviously not read Elliot Page's book where he speaks about his experience in his own words. She's embarrassing herself on so many levels. If only he had had the support he needed as a child and could have lived his life as an accepted trans male, a lot of his trauma could have been avoided. Trying to traumatize him EVEN MORE by suggesting he go backwards in his journey is beyond cruel
That was my jaw drop moment on this video. "The online hatred to Elliot is... understandable." I got such whip lash because I honestly thought she was going to say "wrong" or "misdirected" or something. Nope. Basically just encouraging people to harass Elliot and other trans folk online. Great. Just great.
I'm sorry, I just started the video, and "american actress"...misgendering and just inaccurate. he is a canadian treasure. as a canadian, I am tired of this erasure.
@BeeTreeOil "American" doesn't refer to the continent, it refers to the country. As an American, Elliot is Canadian and should be recognized as such. I'm a bit worried seeing it's "the most expensive film of his (Nolan's) career". Movie studios have managed to put so much money into everything that no film ends up being their definition of success, because they don't break even and then they use that as an excuse not to fund other projects. But it is Nolan and he's a guaranteed money maker, AND I generally enjoy his movies (at least as far back as Following) AND I'm a sucker for Odysseus, even the Armand Assante version. Ok, about not looking happy. I've just had a top surgery (2 weeks post-op on Friday) and when all the dressing came off last Friday and I first got to see my chest, I teared up and when I get overly emotional, I tend to look upset (especially when I'm also trying not to stim). The nurse even asked if I was okay and when I told her that yes, that I was just overwhelmed with emotions (happiness, relief and for the first time since puberty being able to look at myself without feeling discomfort). Just because someone doesn't look happy, doesn't mean they're not feeling happy. I was ecstatic, euphoric, but looked like I had a horrible day, because that's just how my face works. Not that Elliot Page look like that, I can see happiness there. I'm just saying that happiness isn't always visible.
Y'know. I was talking to my dad about deadnames. A lot of my uncles and my dad have changed their names! Ones who haven't usually go by a nickname - because that is who they want to be referred as. That is who they are. It's not hard to respect that. I never changed my name but my dad would understand it if I did. I'm trans and hearing people constantly deadname Elliot is disheartening. It's gross how much people weaponize anything against us. Man, Elliot is an actor!! Actors use different names all the time! Why are you being so bigoted about his name?
My mom's name was Elizabeth Ann. At a fairly young age she said she wanted to go by the name Ann. Absolutely no one had a problem with it, and she lived the rest of her life known as Ann. No one made a fuss over it, no one tried to bring up her given name, it wasn't an issue. It's so infuriating that people deadname trans people because it's as easy as pie to use the correct name. They're just trying to be hurtful, that's all there is to it. They enjoy hurting others.
As a Canadian trans masc youth, I admire Elliot. He's a major inspiration for me, and definitely saved my life with his hope and support for us. Side note, this video is making me sick right off the bat, like HIS NAME IS *ELLIOT* NOT HIS DEAD NAME AND HE IS AN *ACTOR* . It's clear that the person wanted to give context to who Elliot is before deadnaming and misgendering him.
that girl is just hard headed and her opinions are so empty. half of the time she is just repeating stuff that's already is in the video she is reacting to, the other half she is just yapping uncoherently. She's just not someone that deserves a platform.
she literally calls transitioning an experiment, compares being trans to developing a drug addiction in response to trauma... I really don't understand how there aren't laws against such blatant transphobia
I am an old woman, but the way she was saying "she" because "she" hadn't finished transitioning or something feels off, even to me. My understanding is not all trans people actually medically transition, am I right? So, he should be referred to as "he" or "they" regardless of where he is in that transition journey. It's about the identity, isn't it? Like the transitioning part is for them personally....but the identity part is for them AND us, yes?
Yes, when talking about someone before they came out/transitioned you should use the pronouns they use currently. Same with people who don't medically transition. There's no biological requirement for pronouns of choice to be used.

Elliot deserves all the respect; he is a proud Canadian who uplifts queer folk worldwide and serves as an example of Canadian excellence. Given the current relationship between Canada and the US, it really irks me when an American is not only disrespecting Elliot's existence as a trans man, but also as a Canadian man!!
Wow. When will people with a youtube channel realize that using it to only bring someone down is just the ugliest thing a human being can do? What purpose does this serve her, other than the opportunity to needlessly pass negative judgement about someone else's journey through life? Does having a channel make her feel like a god or something?
Yeah what happened to fun youtube videos!!? Where did they go? Is it just this girl's purpose to bring people down and look down on others!? It honestly makes me sick
@mossie18 I don't understand people anymore. I was raised to show compassion and empathy for people not hated and malice. I enjoy videos from happy creators not these controversial bigots. I don't really get why people want to drag everybody down and try to vilify any thoughts that are different. It's nauseating.
She works for PragerU. Bigoted videos are 99% of their "ministry". This institutionalized hatred is what they think God is all about, which is probably why religion is dying in the US. Not that that disproves God in itself, if they were the best I could do after creating the universe, I wouldn't show my face either.
@Soredli Tolerating differences is not the same as accepting ignorant hate. We are tolerant, but we won't allow ourselves to be discriminated against because someone else ISN'T tolerant.
I have never been as angry as someone who knows nothing about a subject or a person tells them how they feel and what they should do so explicitly like they are some character they are writing
I wouldn't even force a fictional character I'm writing to do something if it was this wrong for them. Even fictional characters should have more autonomy than what this bigot is demanding from a real person she does not know.
In Kindergarden I've wondered why I was treated like I should be playing with boys and treated differently from the (other) girls. I didnt understand. In elementary school I continued playing with the girls until people started to bully me and called me gay as an insult. (Why do people call boys or men gay? Because often if they act feminine its "a sign" in their eyes) In High school it continued. "Are you gay?" Parents asking my classmate and friend at that time if i was gay due to my high pitched voice. I always felt weirdly off at the expections people had of me. And one thing my parents taught me: "Be yourself, always. Be kind and stay true to yourself." And i did. A year after I graduated I found a subreddit and it took only two posts, an explanation what trans means and a cliché. I had an "AHA-moment" which I only had once before like this in math in 9th grade finally understanding her explanation. Now I had a word. I finally understood why I felt how i felt. Every week I remembered another thing about my life that clearly showed that I was in fact a trans girl a trans woman. All my life. I had close to zero information or confrontation with queer people. I had only seen two post giving me an explanation, giving me a word. And I finally understood myself fully. It is not about exposure. It is not about brainwashing or trauma. It is about finding out who i am inside disregarding what my body looks like (and tbf who can say they know themselves outside of a stigma people created around them if not trans people)
This girl is a disgrace. In what way does somebody being trans impact on her life. What makes her think she has a right to deadname a trans person, whether their life has been in public or not? Why is she not looking at the total trans joy of the Watchoski sisters? Does she think trans people only appeared a couple of years ago? The trans community has existed since the human race appeared, and, more to the point, accepted until Christian missionaries decided they knew better. She is just making me so angry
Could you imagine someone telling an abuse survivor that they should go back to being abused because they talk about their past with a solemn tone, so they must hate themself now that they're not abused? Like??????? Edit: also, the backwards ass view of "You're letting your abusers dictate who you are," when the abusers are saying "youre a girl, stop acting like a boy" and elliot has said "no. I am a boy (man actually) you dont get to tell me how to act"
Definitely, so a person can go through challenges after transitioning and they will for sure. We all go through challenges in life and that doesn’t stop once you transition. However. That doesn’t mean that you should deny, and therefore rid yourself of the joy that you do have!
I'm pretty sure I've seen that lady before on UA-cam, sadly. Her short is one of the first things that comes up when you look up Dead End Paranormal Park, a gay and queer kids show. its horrible that this is the kind of impression she brings when talking about really incredible shows, like dead end, and incredible people, like Elliot Page. If I'm getting the person wrong, sorry ^^; but its still the same message (I'm getting words wrong, woops)
I mean she just transparently seems to be trying to sell transphobia while trying to look caring and empathetic - while looking to any person with any actual knowledge of the trans experience like an idiotic bigot.
Oh no how dare we encourage people to be their true selves simply because some people believe an imaginary man in the sky never makes mistakes. I’ve loved Elliot page for many years and I personally am so happy that he was able to become the person he wants to be. People need to just let people live their lives.
She talks as if she actually cares about the pain and anguish of trans people while at the very same time mis-gendering, dead-naming, and criticizing. Very disingenuous all the way around. She knew what her story and conclusions were before she even looked at Eliot.
there is something so creepy watching this vlogger / podcaster using a persons history of sexual assault and bullying against them. Fight the good fight and be angry at those who assault young women, not one of their victims. to be clear, the people assaulting Ellitot did so based on his appearance at the time, which was that of a young woman, not that Elliot was a young woman at the time.
Also, when the ill-informed lady said that there was so much pain yet to come on the journey, it actually came to mind that truly all we’re doing on this journey is facing the pain that was already there, and if we choose to love ourselves through that pain and heal it, the pain goes away. The journey of life does not bring additional pain. It simply brings up pain within us that we can then choose to resolve or not. and to say that the trans journey brings pain is a simply discourage people from loving themselves and facing what has always been bothering them regardless of how they’ve identified before
Everyone knows Elliot Page's dead name, because he was in films before so it's easy for strangers to find. But yeah, if the person insists on using that right near the start of a video, it's a warning sign for me. Will come back to watch properly later!
33:38 also, transitioning from f to m doesn't mean that you can't wear skirts anymore. They are literally just a piece of clothing fabric. I mean, all of her arguments are so stupid, but this one stood out for me in peek stupidity lol

Oh god, I was hoping you’d never find this woman jamie. she’s aware she’s wrong but she has a narrative. And she’ll Continue to spew this rhetoric as long as she’s getting paid to do so but I am glad you’re covering it as well at the same time because it is good to keep informing people that people like her are wrong
As a transmasculine person at the beginning of my transition, it's so hard not to internalize this type of rhetoric...I can't help thinking "trans men are men, but what if I'm not actually trans? What if she's wrong about all other trans men but right about me?"
Bro, I hear you.... Also at the beginning here. I have that same anxiety sometimes. "Well, transitioning has helped all these other people who feel similarly as I do, but maybe I'm the exception and I'm just not seeing it" Jamie makes a really good point : The trauma we experience as kids can be from other's responses to us being gender non-conforming, us being gender non-conforming is NOT coming from experiencing that trauma. It came before that. Friendly reminder (also saying this for myself): reading the individual human stories of other transmasc people and their unique lives and experiences helps me because I remember just how MUCH I relate to them. Listening to bigots, even for me to go 'oh wow look how stupid this person is' can just feed into when I'm feeling self doubt. I'm already an anxious person, I don't need more from people who don't want me to exist lol. Stay strong dude
Going on T will probably make you feel better. And if it doesn't, you can stop at any time. Cis people always focus on operations rather than HRT because the surgeries aren't reversible. But a trans person can stop taking hormomes any time they want, and it takes years to get results that make you look "fully transitioned". So there really shouldn't be too much gatekeeping around hormone therapy.
How can she (a non-trans woman) react to amd comment on a video of Elliot who is trans!? Like girl you aren't trans, you don't know what he's going through!! Real! She's such an insensitive and stupid person.

But always worth the wait.
eh, the infantalisation is just one part of it. there's also general misogyny. hell, specific trans man youtubers were painted as predators in a popular terf book about trans men and to some extent afab non-binary people. transphobes also have a weird objectifying entitlement to trans mens' bodies. it's a lot.
Yeah it's never "trans men want to go into men's bathrooms to be creepy to men"
that's only for trans women for some reason🙄
What’s annoying is she tries to act like she’s neutral on the topic

She's a conservative commentator who's appeared on Jubilee, if I'm remembering correctly. In my eyes, she serves as a beginning point of the right wing pipeline, which is why she doesn't say the quiet part out loud. it's just thinly veiled words
I hate how she weaponizes the fact that she was once liberal 😕
My sister was horribly bullied because she wasn't gender conforming growing up. She turned out to be a cis lesbian.
I was horribly bullied because I wasn't gender conforming growing up. I turned out to be a trans woman.
It happened this way because I am trans, and she is not. We were bullied because of who we are, we did not become who we are because we were bullied.
Say it louder for the people under the rocks!
No such thing as cisgender
This exactly!!! People bully those who are different from the "norm" in any way
Did you know that gender non-conformity is common with homosexuality?
-🪼
it literally makes me cringe... imagine trying so hard to dehumanize someone... gross
It really caught me off guard the first time she did it because I genuinely forgot his deadname
what I never understand is when a normal cis person legally or socially changes names because they didnt like the name they were born with is respected but a transperson who does is disrespected and deadnamed. There is a double standard people arent really seeing.
No one ever said my married name, followed by "who used to be this other name." Fucking infuriating. They can say the correct name but they won't.
EXACTLY!!
Why is it OK for my mom to change her married name and we're expected to accept it but we don't do the same for trans people?
Miss Jones is now living as Mrs Smith. She is currently going through a phase of identifying as a married woman
@morinomajouugh, this is woke bullshit. You can't stop being a Jones just because you got married. People don't understand names any more. /s

Its so weird to completely deliberately twist a videos message to convince others that elliot is wrong for HIS own decision and identity.

You must be faking it and/or a predator!"
There is _no appropriate_ time to be trans or transition. There is always a reason a trans person isn't valid and they are happy to change that reason to fit whatever circumstances.
It's funny, she seems to have a certain sense of compassion for bullied people while not realising she's being a bully herself.

Elliott has a fantastic Ark through the entire character experience
The way his transition was handled in the show was *gorgeous*! It was so simple and beautiful and made me cry.
It was amazing and my understanding was that the producers and writers asked _him,_ "Okay, how do we handle this?"
What I found so beautiful about it was how _normal_ it was. This is the Umbrella Academy! Victor coming out as trans was the _least_ weird thing to happen on the show. And the characters treated it as such.
Life can be hard and bizarre and down right mind bending... But transition doesn't have to be if there is fundamental support and acceptance.

I used to know Sting's given name, like decades ago when I worked at a record store. And when you said that, I realized that I can't even remember his given name now. Which should happen with trans people, we should leave the old name in the past and move along. I fail to see why that's difficult.

@@solomonverrico actually when Amala worked for PragerU she was a lot more center on trans issues and never misgendered or deadnamed, she openly supported trans adults and just said she doesn't want kids transitioning. It so annoys me, I honestly wanted to just punch the screen because of all the horrible words she was saying, having literally no empathy for poor Elliot.
@mossie18 omg shinji
@prageruwu69 hello! I am the female version of him!

Amala is telling her audience about what she thinks about what is happening in Elliot’s mind, while she doesn’t know him at all and is purely speculating about what goes on in his head. How can she say she knows he is lying from a 30-second clip of him in the cold answering a very personal question ?

Amara from PragerU. So she's mandated to have the worst possible, most ignorant take on absolutely everything.
She's also so stupid she doesn't even know he's Canadian, yet thinks she knows him. She deserves to face her own medicine

Oh, that is exciting!
I'm a bit worried seeing it's "the most expensive film of his (Nolan's) career". It would have made more sense to say "you can't be trans, you're happy." Being trans tends to be depressing, especially before transition.
No one made a fuss over it, no one tried to bring up her given name, it wasn't an issue. It's so infuriating that people deadname trans people because it's as easy as pie to use the correct name.
Because often if they act feminine its "a sign" in their eyes)
In High school it continued.
It is about finding out who i am inside disregarding what my body looks like (and tbf who can say they know themselves outside of a stigma people created around them if not trans people)
Anyone recounting or speaking about trauma isn’t going to be happy recounting even if they are at a place of acceptance and peace.

She's comparing the experiences of very young people with a nearly 40-year-old!
She talks as if she actually cares about the pain and anguish of trans people while at the very same time mis-gendering, dead-naming, and criticizing. Very disingenuous all the way around. She knew what her story and conclusions were before she even looked at Eliot.
I'm a straight cis woman, and I, too, would get rather uncomfortable if asked to record a message to my younger self for public viewing.
there is something so creepy watching this vlogger / podcaster using a persons history of sexual assault and bullying against them.

And she’ll Continue to spew this rhetoric as long as she’s getting paid to do so but I am glad you’re covering it as well at the same time because it is good to keep informing people that people like her are wrong
She's very hard to listen to, I just couldn't make it all the way through.
i understand that its really not funny but "✨that's why he transed✨" really got me
I'm impressed by her use of the past tense of "trauma" as in "the trauma'd person" 😂
If I was Elliot I would have that video taken down and publicly say "Call me by my name, or keep my story out of your mouth."
Ok divaaaa
As a transmasculine person at the beginning of my transition, it's so hard not to internalize this type of rhetoric...I can't help thinking "trans men are men, but what if I'm not actually trans? What if she's wrong about all other trans men but right about me?"
Bro, I hear you.... Also at the beginning here. I have that same anxiety sometimes. "Well, transitioning has helped all these other people who feel similarly as I do, but maybe I'm the exception and I'm just not seeing it"
Jamie makes a really good point : The trauma we experience as kids can be from other's responses to us being gender non-conforming, us being gender non-conforming is NOT coming from experiencing that trauma.
She seems like she's just trying to make iy sounds like shes right. All of the time. It infuriates me. Thank you for covering this video Jamie ❤❤❤
