- Really liking both the Gold and Silver Rath fights in IB but there's no permanent special arena quest mod on PC yet afaik so I just took on both in one quest. Start and end of the run were a bit rough but otherwise pretty clean so I'm happy with it.
Hammer TA could probably get sub 8 with perfect AI and execution but right now this is the fastest TA time across all weapons so I won't subject myself any more to this shitty area.

(tl;dr no mantles, no cats, no traps, no flinch shot into wall, no environmental damage/traps etc.)

@@ItaliansDriveItBetter Not good, you need the crit and master's touch to maintain purple sharpness. If you want to go for a gimmicky slugger set I'd recommend to use Nergigante hammer instead

@@ItaliansDriveItBetter For general use I'd also recommend to use the master rank Teo helm instead of the AT Teo one like I did since it has more def and you dont need that one extra slot from the AT helm that badly, unless you feel confident about not getting hit often.

Really nice and satisfying hammer run. I never played hammer that often myself but it's always delighting seeing one play and/or having a good hammer bro in your team. Really valuable. Good old Alatreon times on Monster Hunter Tri, hammer time. Miss those times, man.

@@CantaPerMe They don't fall randomly at all, only when you happen to be under them. They're literally designed with an intelligence and they never run dry.
This run is so clean I could eat my dinner off it. But that would be disrespectful, so I won't.

Interesting to see how your thoughts on the Silver Rathalos fight in IB have evolved! Anything in particular that you like about the fights/think is good design, etc.?

He's very aggressive but his attacks have safe spots, rewarding your for positioning yourself properly. He also has a variation of attack combos that change depending on whether he's enraged or not and where you stand, further rewarding you for observing and learning his patterns and positioning yourself properly.
@@CantaPerMe Yeah he also changes it up even more when he goes into hellfire mode. I find his fight challenging but fair. Only thing I don't like is he has a higher chance for stuns vs other monsters it seems. I'm glad you don't think he's trash anymore.

Just wondering, do you think that these (current) endgame monsters (Metal Raths, Ruiner, Savage Jho, etc.) are sufficiently difficult to still be enjoyable even with (current) endgame gear? If not, do you think it's just a matter of too little HP, or other stuff instead/as well?

Yeah, I think it was the area being one giant slope that gave me a bad first impression because those really fuck up your positioning as a hammer user.

I have been learning playing a lot of hammer. I am finding it to be one of the most satisfying weapons. I am also find the gunlance fun & satisfying too.
My main weapons have been the Lance , light Bowgun ,play some Heavy Bowgun & also learning Bow.
I love hammer. The stun damage is wonderful. However i got too used to wide range gunlance in world and now in iceborn the long shelling GL are better and i have been learning when to use my charged shells. Both are great options hope you enjoy

You will fight both at the same time if you don't kill Rathian quickly enough btw
CantaPerMe and nobody likes that they’ll just converge on you or attack each other and make it easier
Geek Frost actually only the flinch clutch claw move affects them vs each other. They do no take damage or flinch from each other’s attacks. I had to fight both in the guiding lands.

I don't know why, but when using hammer/DB i tell my hit box is getting smaller than the other weapons.
The hammer hitboxes are insane, the hitbox is bigger than the visual size of the hammer.

DoktorNutella speed runs require a lot of skills and luck too. it is kinda impossible to ask for speed runs and frequent update
Stalin Cen yes true, to be a good hammer bro, I mean a good hunter, it’s not necessary to be a speed runner, speed runner have to attempt more than 50 times to get it perfectly @DoktorNitella
when watching this i get info on tactics timing and set i kinda the berserker guy if i get hit i get hit but still need the trick for maximizing damage time and monster patters to abuse. i Don't really speed run but killing a monster that proficient is rewarding.

When in gods name did they add gold rathian and silver Rathalos?? Since Iceborne initially?? I gotta go get to these they are my favorites in the series I fell off Iceborne too early I guess.
Canta, can I ask, how do you deal with playing the hammer in maps with slopes? Like the dunes in wildspire or the area by camp 12 in coral highlands? Do you just suck it up and use the blanka move or what?

They're still very aggressive but also more fair, easily their best versions in the series so far imo.
Hammer was my first main in tri. There was no HH in that game, but I've always been enamored by the HH from video from freedom and such. I look at your damage and mine with HH, and I cri evy tim. They really need to up the motion values. I think they were too scared to make HH too strong lol. I took your advice about the mad bone horn and I'm loving it. Thanks

Did it to regenerate some stamina since I know that the opening was large enough to fully charge the superpound again in time to hit her with it.

You're not far from the truth with that, both monsters have certain attack patterns depending on where you're positioning yourself during their attacks which lets you to some degree predict their attacks if you know those patterns (for example, if you stay right under Silver Rathalos when he spins, he'll almost always do a stomp afterwards)
