SECRET BURRITO TRICK: 3 ways to sew HOODS with BEAUTIFUL results. LINED & UNLINED.

- Hello friends, here is a fun sewing technique video for you. If you want to make open styles like jackets or cardigans with a hood, you can make it lined or unlined with different methods that turn out amazing!
See them all today here!
1. Trim away the seam allowance of the Lining of the hood and bind the raw edges with cotton binding that can be on the bias or on the straight of grain. I used my sons North Star pullover for this section. This is part of Love Notions instructions. See Constellation/North Star videos here: • Sewing: zippers & line...

2. Burrito roll method to enclose the neckline seams and it’s neat inside and out. I used the Donna jacket to film this method. It’s not the instructions of the pattern. See the Donna jacket video here: • Video
It's 50% off ($6) this weekend. Affiliate link:5outof4.com/product/donna-swe...
3. Unlined hood. Align twill tape seam or an alternative woven fabric to the raw edge of the neckline and hood. Super neat and easy to sew. This is from the Castillo cardigan (Itch to Stitch) tutorial.
I hope you like these methods and try them out to vary from the traditional methods. See the Castillo Cardigan video here: • How to sew raglan slee...

Your videos have helped me so much. I love learning these tips and techniques you show that make garment construction so much better.
I LOVE your videos! I have auditory processing issues, which can cause issues with adverbs, but I break out my hearing aids for yours ❤ I did want to suggest chapters! In these videos with multiple steps/types/tips, bring able to click on specific chapters is really useful
Brilliant video. I have learnt so much. Thanks.
Great to hear!
Karina, I watch every video…that’s how much I respect you. You are so valued by your followers for these tech talks. I noticed I like the bling too. Can’t wait to see what you made with the gold metallic linen.

I don’t know why these videos aren’t popular; they are fabulous. Thank you ❤
I know why they have the views they have. What I show is super accurate & detailed and a lot of people might prefer simpler ways.... but I stay true to my standards and I know the few people that watch will benefit :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I love your standards ❤️

I absolutely loved this video. Many channels show a quick way to do something and don't point out the problems - I have made things which didn't hold up. Your channel is so educational and inspiring. Who knows, perhaps someone will be more confident after watching. Thank you, Thank you.
Thank you so much for the encouragement. I’d be so happy if one person gained more confidence. It would make me super happy.
Dear Karina, I have struggled to understand how to finish a hoodie with twill tape and now thanks to your wonderfully detailed, close up tutorial, I finally get it! Thank you so much, I get you made this one over a year ago and probably won't see the comment, but I am positive you helped me and will help countless others who need this visual demonstration. Thank you so much!

Thank you for making this video. I've learned so much and can't wait to try all 3 methods.
Yay! I hope you have all the fun.
These are excellent tutorials, Karina. I really appreciate the clarity and great camera work
Perfect timing of this video. I was sewing exactly that a hooded top. I did just like you said and my project came out amazing. All I have to finish is sleeve band and bottom waist band. My pattern didn't have a zipper. I have a different hooded pattern that will have a zipper and now I'm confident I will sew jacket perfectly.👍😊
Wonderful!
Can I just say that you are an inspiration ❤️. I have learned so much and have become a much better sewist thanks to your videos.
I used to follow a channel where person isn't even really bothered if things don't look perfect but following you now I can see how important it is. I am very particular about how I want things to look and you have made that possible for me. Thank you so much.
Love hearing you talk 🥺and you explain everything so well !! Subbing now !

I really enjoyed this video. I love the burrito method.
Karina, this video was timed perfectly for me. I just started making the kids hoodie by Love Notions for my grandson for Christmas. Your ideas of using the burrito method to attach the hood are so helpful. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!!!! 💐Awesome visuals and explanation! 👍
P.S.
I have sewn hoods before (long ago) but for some reason I got...."brain fart" and for the life of me, I just couldn't figure out how to attach/sew in lined hood to the rest of the garment (also lined). 😖😵💫😊
Karina, I appreciate you so much for doing these videos. I have been sewing for over 50 yrs and love that you share so much with us. I am always ready to learn. I will try the alternate method many times in my sewing life. Keep it up!! 😍😊😍
Thank you so much 😀
Love this video with all the different ways to approach a hoodie. Definitely one I’ll watch numerous times. I usually use a silk tie to bind my edge for a pop of color. Thanks Karina for your instructions and attention to detail. You and Whitney at Tomkat Stitchery are my go to gals for my kind of sewing and looks. 💕💕
Thank 👆 for widening my sewing knowledge
Thanks!
This video is so exciting to me!! I never thought to use the burrito method on a hood (or hem band). And I totally will do it all the time now!
It’s actually super fun and so much faster and easier :)
I'm here becoz all the other hood makers talked too much...
