It is mind blowing, looking exactly like my GT Black Series on the front - when #AMG are left to their own devices on design, they knock this stuff out the park!
Launching first is a GT63 and GT55, which are both PURELY V8 Powered only, and it’s the sportiest AMG in the line-up. But with this new GT, the formula has changed in in a big way. Now it comes standard as a 4matic+ all wheel drive car for the first time, and its practicality is doubled with a rear bench and shared interior with the SL, and a much bigger boot!
And there’s a lot more shared with the SL - The previous GT was a “rear transaxle” layout. This is where our transmission, rear diff and rear axle are all in one assembly. With the carbon torque tube connected to the engine. Gave the car a 47/53 weight distribution.
Now, the engine and gearbox are mated up front, to free up space for 4matic+ and rear wheel steering - and huge doses of practicality with a 2+2 4 seater format, and a massively enlarged boot.
The tech is largely modified from SL, but to create a significantly sportier car - so we use the aluminium rigid composite body, but made further rigid in the coupe. But unlike SL, the GT in both 55 and 63, use more dynamic set up for all other components. So we have active engine mounts as standard, electronic rear diff standard, an all new sportier ESP system, active aerodynamics taken from the learnings in AMG GT R. AMG’s Active ride control suspension is further honed here with stiffer spring rates, semi active anti roll stabilisation, new valves and piston diameters, and an optional aerodynamic package with fixed wing for more downforce.
The GT also gets race mode with drift mode as standard, as the car features a different rear transmission to the SL - which helps it sprint faster too. Performance wise, the GT63 Coupe sits at 585BHP, 800NM and sprints so 60 in 3.2 secs. The GT55 has 476BHP, 700NM and 3.9 to 60. The engine pairs to the 9 speed MCT - multi clutch gearbox with wet start off clutch.
The car doesn’t have the perfect weight balance of its predecessor, instead siting at 53/47 front to rear, and it’s significantly heavier at 1970KG. Though, it’s undoubtedly more of a daily car now, with 4matic+, more space and tech, and the 2+2 configuration.

The hoods not long enough, the previous amg gt coupe was much more beautiful with lower to the ground and longer dash to axle ratio, I really wonder if this car retains the front mid engine layout where the engine is behind the front axle but still front of the driver. This looks like a front engine car like BMW m8 because of the short dash to axle ratio. I really hope it isn't just a Mercedes sl with a roof.

It aint going after no 911 anymore, it weighs more then a midsize suv or jeep wrangler ffs it has awd, it shat itself amg is officially dead.
It weighs 350kg more than the current AMG GT. 1950KG, it's no lightweight

@@Sideways_Singh i think amg is getting revived slowly. keep in mind this gt63 is awd so it can put its power down to the wheels with no problems. The v8 is returning to the c-class in 2026 as well. They lost their way but are getting back on track to what the actual amg consumers want.

Amazing amazing job. Somehow they’ve created a new flavor but the older one still looks good. Almost like you can pick your preference.

Man the previous gen looked so much more aggressive. These headlights look so similar to the bmw z4 headlights now lol..the interior is gorgeous though
They must have put back seats in the new GT so that when they make the GT-R, they can say it’s 200 kgs lighter

Still gonna miss the V8 C63, because so fewer people can afford the V8 GT. So I got a v8 C8 Corvette convertible at half the price. Its all I can afford, so no regrets.

Design is soooo good. But 1900kg is way too heavy. It wont compete with the 911 performancewise since they weight in at just 1600kg dry. Even the turbo s 992 weights under 1.7 tons with a way better weight distribution. More weight on the front than on the rear is a no-go. I dont understand where the weight comes from?

The V8 is placed more to the front. In the old it was behind the front axle in this one on the front axcle. Also the trans is connected to the engine in stead of on the rear axcle like the old one.

By placing the engine more to the front they have created more interior space. Also the old transaxle design (trans on rear axle) could probably
not maintain because of the 4MATIC and rear axle steering systems. And cost of course. So to fit the trans behind the engine they probably also had tot move the engine to the front. With this new model the driver is sitting almost in the middle between the wheels like every other normal car (and 911) while in the old model the driver was just in front of the rear axle. Completely different beast.
Heavy, but it probably won’t matter since I’ll probably have excellent handling. Most manufacturers know how to hide the weight of a car, and amg is one of the best to do it.
I actually love this car. I thought the soft top SL was a huge miss. No more S couple was a huge miss. All the pervious GTs were too track focused, and not something you could live with as a daily on the same level as an SL with a hardtop or an S couple. This car gives me hope again...... as good as the 911 is, I definitely prefer the AMG ... V8 hype!

I’m back to disagree. I have a 2009 SL 63 AMG with several performance additions. I am at a near 50-50 white balance.

I think you need one of each..this is a better car in most ways but the older one is more focussed….they will hold their value well…the new one not so much…but for a real world GT this in the one for me!🙂🙂🙂🙂
@@HQBProductionsthe old car isn’t holding its value that well. Only the Pro model and the black series will. You can buy a used Gt C for under 100k with low miles. It’s not like the SLS, which even the less expensive convertible version is selling for more than a GT C
@@Solstare Ah…you are right of course but my emphasis was on “will” because I think the new car is more mainstream in looks. It just might help the values of the past model…and yes, in the U.K. you can get very examples of a 2015/16 car for around £50,000….but nice cars are also there and much newer for under £100,000. Worth thinking about!🙂🙂🙂

The previous generation is 300-400kg lighter. More agressive in driving , rear wheel , more sporty
