Emperor bless you baldy, I'm sure you get tired of seeing it on every video, but I'll say it again. Thank you, I'll never be able to fit my appreciation for your work into this tiny box. But these videos help keep my irl cixatrix maledictum at bay. I truly appreciate the passion you bring to the universe.
Sergeant's are, I think, the soul of the squad. There loadout being more independent then their brothers, able to add that little more ranged fire power or have a melee weapon, acting as the squads "champion" back when challenges were a thing. Assembling the sergeant is often my favourite part of building a squad, choosing his gear and digging into my bit's boxes for that one little addition to mark them out from the others.
Ahhh the Sgt. I loved the moments my Vet Sgts (Terminator Honors I think it was called back in the day) with a PF (either in Tac or Assault Squads) gave me. And how they'd insta death an HQ or rip out the engine of a vehicle. Good, glorious times.
Terminator Honours is like a medal or decoration; it's awarded to veteran Marines when they complete the training to use Tactical Dreadnought Armour...
Princepts of titans are rarer than marines old chap, you even had this in your great story about them😊 but I love your stories so much keep doing them you fantastic man you
Sir Baldy! You may have just searched up "bridge near waterfall" pics, but thank you for choosing Multnomah Falls in my area! It is silly that it does so but it makes me proud that one of our little landmarks over here in Oregon made it into one of my favorite creators' vids!
Thank you for this! I've barely slept since Saturday, when I picked up my new puppy (Trazyn the Australian Shepherd). Your lore is perfect and your voice is soothing. I needed this.
Thank you, Uncle Bald. You continue to be the greatest hobby audio for me to build my little army men to. I am forever grateful for your content, thank you for never giving up. 😊
I just figured "fear" as in Know No Fear is shorthand for cowardice. Oversimplificstion is common in the setting. After all, the Primordial annihilator is referred to simply as "chaos".
So happy to hear to hear the praise of the sergeants, the backbone of mankinds efforts. Also thanks to Baldermort's ever great stories and narrations!!!! and for not falling to the easy solution of shitty and inconsistent AI art that so many WH40K channels use now.
Excellent choice of material and coverage, and of course, wonderful story. The problem could have been solved with a bolter, but that wouldn't have satisfied honor or vengeance.
As you stated “Time for a little fun”. Thaddeus was brilliant! You are correct. Friday/Saturday is my time to switch off. Learn about humanity and graciously accept and revere your years of dedicated passion. Love to all the crew and family. Thank you @Baldermort you make my world a little less shit. Alex 💯❤️😈🤖💯🇬🇧🫡
Yo, Baldy, can't tell you how much your narratives add to the richness of a proper gentleman's daily experience. Effort made is job 1. Pray, continue in the very best of health.
We love you sir Baldy!! You who are blessed bring us these beautiful stories and moments. You get us through the difficult times and we can not thank you enough!! God bless you and your family and may the Emperor protect!
Who needs a jump pack when one can pull a Space Wolves worthy display of bravado? Maybe one day we shall be blessed with an entry for the true lifeblood of any chapter, its serfs.
I was extremely excited to see a new Baldemort video, and to my surprise even more excited to see a shot of Multnomah Falls as the background image, that’s like 20 minutes from my house!
My favourite quotes from my ex-military friends about Sergeant's "Don't call me Sir, I'm an NCO I work for a living" "That's the Sergeant....try not to piss him off you will regret it" As to what you read I know enough Sgt's who would have said, stay here I'll deal with this c*** put me a brew on I'll be back in five.
Love your dedication, because of it we have brilliant content! You keep very many people busy with your brilliance. We all love you and the gifts of videos you keep us happy with! ❤
As always a beautiful tale to work on minis too. You are what I consider the standard of a true bard, bringing to life with words places, people and things in our minds and hearts.
Great video, I hope you continue this series as there are two ranks among the space marines that confuse me, the lieutenant and the veteran sergeant. Now the lieutenant I understand in theory, they are supposed to be the sub commanders of the company that become important if the captain wants to split up the company into smaller formations or take command if the captain dies. Yet, in practice, it more often than not seems as if sergeants almost always take that role with the rank of lieutenant more often than not going unacknowledged. Similarly, the rank of Veteran Sergeant seems to me like it would make the rank of lieutenant redundant since designating a senior sergeant would work just as well for establishing a sub-commander or successor in case the captain dies. What I’m asking is: Is there a nuance to these ranks between the sergeant and the captain that I miss and how come that the rank of lieutenant seems so rarely used in the lore?
Fantastic thank you Baldermort, I am happy we could go back to the marine structures, I am that one guy that actually really likes the Primarius Lieutenant models, the Bladegaurd being one of my favorite models. But Sergeants are super cool. I am repainting a bunch of my Dark Angels so I should church up the sergeants a little! I am going to be sure to share this awesome video with all the new people I am going to meet at Adepticon net weekend. I am super pumped!
Hey, brother baldy. Another great story! Good to see lots of imagination, and hard work on all the videos and channels over the years. Hope you're having a fun.
You make an interesting point in the conclusion: every SM is quite likely to make sergeant given enough time and opening slots. This contrasts with my experience and observations of real-life unenhanced 'mortal' militaries, and will inform my lore reading going forward.
Thanks for another great one which this time gives me the kick I need to get some illustrations done. With a Balders narration in my ears, I shall know no fear.
It is said that the word "sergeant" is based on an ancient Latin word... for "babysitter". Consider the requirements necessary to keep base-level Astartes in-line.
Its descriptions like this, that each astartes is the equivalent of our era's legends, that make me more interested in my custom chapter than my original Tyranid army.
Without the Sergeants Space Marines Squad wouldn’t be as effective as the Codex states it could be. Sergeant are vital for the continue success of an war that a Chapter finds itself in, and make no mistake that it is a Sergeant decision and tactical input that makes it possible for a squad to turn the tide of the war.

The Sergeant. AKA: "The Captain gives the command, this guy makes sure it gets done."
Only because the Marines do not have E4s... Of course, this spares them from the oddities and shenanigans of the E4 mafia!
Just make a decision Sir, we go left or right - the Staff Sgt Battlefield Los Angeles
@@hege6300 Is the E4 mafia a thing or just blown up by UA-camrs?
@@tflwulf69oh it is ABSOLUTELY a thing.
The indomitable NCO, the hard ass backbone of any real military force...

Agreed. I always like adding a bit more to the Sgt. Give them some extra character and personality.
There is no more base level badass than a Space Marine Sergeant.
A rough day at work, but a good day turns it all around.
As an NCO in the military I can most identify with these guys.
Ahhh the Sgt. I loved the moments my Vet Sgts (Terminator Honors I think it was called back in the day) with a PF (either in Tac or Assault Squads) gave me. And how they'd insta death an HQ or rip out the engine of a vehicle. Good, glorious times.

Amazing video.
Tho. The image of the bridge and water fall caught me off guard “Multnomah falls bridge” loved going there as a kid.
This is awesome, as a player with a new marines army this has been very informative
Thank you, Uncle Bald. You continue to be the greatest hobby audio for me to build my little army men to. I am forever grateful for your content, thank you for never giving up. 😊
Fragging amazeballs. Refreshing. The Emperor may require details on more chapter sergeants. Before the Inquisition get me.....😁😁

Yes! Worth it for the fanfic alone.
One must wonder how Sergeants handle combat inside buildings when they've got those big banners attached to their backs.

Why does the video on sergeants have a lieutenant as the thumbnail?
Hurrah!
