OMG I am watching this for the first time since I posted it in OCT 2019. Not great :) I am going to do an update soon with how i feel about this bow more than half a year later. Thanks for watching!
SO, I have this bow as well, I have a about a 30.5 inch draw. Definitely stacks at my draw length (probably starting at 28-29 inches), but it is a great starter for sure. I love this thing, it is definitely my second favorite bow. It comes in second to the Fleetwood TimberRidge Longbow/Recurve bow; I have both limbs, 50lb in longbow, 45 in recurve. The TimberRidge is very similar to the black hunter, but has a "custom wood" look to it, and the handle in the riser is just a tad larger. Still very comfortable, and my favorite bow to shoot to date. I am able to shoot the same arrows through both bows, 50lb longbow limbs and 45lb recurve limbs seem to need the same dynamic spine for my set up, 30.5" draw, split finger shooting, off the shelf, 300 spine 33" arrows 175 grain tips. Always great content from this channel.
@@ArcheryGeek Absolutely no problem. I forgot to mention too that the limbs for the TimberRidge and the limbs for most Black Hunter models are interchangeable, so if you want the black riser and the wood limbs, or vice versa, you can do that. I am aware at some point one of the Black Hunter manufacturers changed the bolt hole sizes, so some limbs still out there may not work. That said, you can find the same issue with the BH risers, if you have a newer model, those older limbs wont work.
I like the Black Hunters I own... I shoot at forty five pounds on these and use the recurve version and the long bow version. Today I was practicing flu flu archery and a great bow for that type of archery if any are into it. Wish you the best and t hanks for your reviews and channel. Nice tips you post.
I feel the same way with the grip!! I really liked the black hunter longbow but the bottom limb broke at the wedge and bamboo core. Great shooting bow also accurate. Now i shoot the f261 ilf with longbow limbs by the same company!!!
@@ArcheryGeek yes its the f261 17 inch riser and the bigrock f162 clearglass gordon fiberglass reflex deflex bamboo limbs. Great bow!! I used plumbers rubber gaskets sanded down under tiller bolts. Rubber o ring on detent and female velcro on limb butt for under tiller bolt and contact of limb and dovtail bracket. Sooo quiet!!! Junxing bows on alibaba or even amazon. has the riser
@@ArcheryGeek you can shoot either or!!! I shoot off the shelf with the supplied alumminum shelf that bolts on the riser. I ground the side and and filed the inside on the rest for better fletch Clearance!! It has only one burger button hole though. Riser is 7075 machined alumminum!!
Let me know how your limbs hold up over time as i had two sets of limbs delaminate on the black hunter longbow. A sales rep mentioned junxing was having issues with the limbs delaminating at the wedges so i am waiting for them to solve the problem. I will buy another one in the future as i loved that black hunter!!!
I just recieved my #45 longbow. No logo on mine! It shoots very well and feels very smooth if I compare to my Martin Jaguar recurve #45. No shock! It is true that arrows are going exactly where you look! I like the esthetics too.
Awesome video and nice shoting bow. I got ptsd and anxiety so for me archery is meditation and relaxation. Im in a bow club and loaning gear now. But am out of work so cant afford my own gear i dream of having a good recurve bow and target so i can shoot everyday would help me a lot both with the ptsd/anxiety and getting in better shape.
Hi I had both of them Bodnik longbow and Black hunter longbow,so called "Chinese junk" and guess what ? I sold the German Bodnik and still have my Chinese junk. So sweet to shoot and very accurate bow.
What height are you putting your knocking point from the square angle from the grip ? I’m new to archery and thinking about buying this one, thank you !
Hi, im looking to get into arhery and buy this as my first bow. But i've got one concern. On amazon, its stated that max draw lenght is 30", but my draw is about 24.8", is that gonna affect anything, concerning that most people i saw on UA-cam said their draw was 26"-28" ?
@@ArcheryGeek well, thats what i measured with tape and divided by 2.5...i ordered the bow, so ill have a better measurement when it comes in...im 175cm in height(i think thats 5"10')
Hello! Please, tell what arrow shaft length do you use with #40 Black Bear longbow? I also want to buy Gold Tip Traditional arrows for the same bow, but don't know, what shaft length to order.
Hey thanks for watching! I used LinkBoy Archery 600 spine. I would think the GTs would 500 spine with 100gr - 150 gr. I wouldn't go by their chart ... 500s should work perfect.
Good video ! Also watched you slick stick ( 60 inch ) video. I have a BH in #30 recurve and BH in #35 longbow versions. I prefer the feel of the longbow although I shoot the recurve in winter because its so cold ( I’m a Canadian also) . I agreed that what makes it for the BH is the riser and in particular the grip . I also hold my bow , “ stop sign “ as you say, and it is perfect. I looking at getting #40 limbs in longbow but also looking at the slick stick 60 inch. Any thoughts on your side ? Thanks . Keep up your videos!
Please search Linkboy archery and buy any of their arrows with 600 spine on AliExpresss I highly recommend them and you can look at my videos for “best traditional arrows” review if you want to see them in action.
Hey thanks for the comment and subbing ! Please look at Aliexpress for a good recurve or longbow - they ship to Canada for free sometimes. I love Canadian Tire but you might as well get your bow from the source. Let me know if you need help! Thanks
Avninder SANDHU I really think a black hunter with longbow limbs is your best bet. Don’t spend more than 120$ usd. For your first bow I would not go bigger than 35 lbs. shipping take a while so be patient :)
You are right! I need to get better at this :) let me see if I can answer some of your questions though: Body - pretty sexy looking bow except for the color. I didn't like the green so I might redo that. Weight - for a bow like this it is of average weight, this is not a good thing. I prefer a heavy bow, they tend to be more accurate. Draw - I have changed my opinion on this and will be doing and UPDATED video of the Black Hunter soon. its made in China like all black hunters are. Sorry this reply is so late. I was considering doing a video to answer all of that but haven't yet. Thanks!
I have and shoot his bow, by draw length is 30.5 inches. It stacks at 28-29 inches, but it is shootable. You might have a little more noise, but you can dampen that out with some limb dampeners. I'd recommend you get the recurve version if you are just starting out, since it draws a bit smoother for the longer draw lengths and does not stack as soon as the longbow version. If you don't care about the stack, then its your choice. I love the aesthetic of the longbow, and always seem to fall back to it.

Did you ever wind up doing that long-term review? I'm searching your videos a year later and can't find it.

Did you buy directly from manufacturer (from Junxing). May be that's why there is no logo.

My family has 3 good back up bow. To your custom when it's rough.

Great review. I ordered the recurve bow threw Amazon in 35#.
Can you use fast flight string?
thanks
yes you can! I haven’t tried it yet though :)
i have been thinking buy one but where i can buy the black hunter bow? some places are empty stock
Would this bow be a good hunting bow in 55# for black bear hunting in your opinion
Bear Tracker in my opinion this would work really well. As you know it’s all about shot placement

You have to order from Mandarin Duck 🦆 🙁

And also for the same 60" bow, but 30lb.?
Many thanks!

How do you install the string silencer. Im having difficulty finding online
You need to tie it together first then slide it through the strings before you restring the bow

Length?
58" just a little guy. I will be doing an updated video on this bow shortly.

Wet a scotch bright pad. Little soap that logo comes right off without damaging the finish.

It's awfully shiny for a hunting bow.
