  • First of all SORRY for bad audio in the first part of the video - my audio files got lost, so I had to use in camera audio...
    Quite a nice, fast and powerful bow (besides the hassle with the holes) - great recurve for intermediate and pro archers

    I know nothing about archery but it is a pastime I have never tried, in 64 years. After watching your review and Kramer Ammons review I have purchased this bow for my first. Thank you for bothering to take the time. 👍

    I was quite impressed by the riser when I purchased one. Lightweight, feels nice in the hand, looks nice. The felt and pegs are nice too. For $100-115 it's a decent bow. I didn't have to drill out the bolt holes or anything. I'm going to build a new target today and put a hundred arrows into it and see how well it does. Hahaha, 8:05 I don't know anyone that uses a stringer. The string grooves on the limbs kept the string in. I had another bow that the groove on the lower limb was cut badly and every time I'd pull back, not even to full draw, the string would slip out.

    I shoot the longbow version #45. It has the same riser. I like it a lot. BTW, the holes were OK for the bolts! ;-)

    Definitely a beautiful hunting bow and the hunters who reviewed it said the same thing you did and they were impressed with the quality of this bow. They also said that It was a bit too loud and they would add bow string silencer but other than that is a good quality light bow from China.

    Thank you, ordered one of the Black Hunters... love my Mongolian Bow for Flu Flu archery but will see how this bow works for me since it was not expensive at fifty pound draw... I shoot a lot of 45 pound draw bows... and then more powerful compound bows... also do crossbows and have several of those and many rifles and such, decided since this bow riser matches one of my favorite rifles with a stock in the same laminate as this bows riser will also make a nice display when not in use in my hunting room. Appreciate your video on this bow and I will put a Fast Flight string on it and use 300 to 340 spine arrows first and see how I like those and shift around with arrow spine since I do like Flu Flu bow shooting and such... wish you a good day and thank you for your very detailed videos on archery.

They did come up with another version of this Black Hunter stuff... some say is really nice .. the Black Hunter 58" TRIANGLE bow that is bamboo laminate and fiberglass at 30 to 40LBS... hope you do a review of that bow in time... and wish you the best.

    I have one in 50 lb draw. I shoot easton legacy arrows with 125 grain tips in 400 spine and a flemish twist string (original string is garbage) I use a hoyt style rest. With a bit of noise tuning the bow shoots great

  • @sansdecorum4600
    @sansdecorum4600 6 років тому +3

    Just picked up the Big Rock variant as a bamboo hybrid in 40# @ 28" (38# as measured) I draw 30" and was very nervous about potential stacking, but was pleasantly surprised when it only just began to express some reluctance when at my full draw. No complaints, especially at this price point. Damn good looking bow, too.
    Currently pondering arrow selection as I only have some vaned Envy X5's 400 spine @ 31.5" on hand and feathers are required. Some already have some torn vanes and I was considering refletching and call it a day. Too heavy?
    Not being anything remotely akin to expert, various charts suggest Easton Tribute 1916's for inexpensive aluminum (pardon me "aluminium"), and Gold Tip Traditionals 500 spine @ 31" in carbon. However, as best I can understand the nuance of a more sophisticated online spine calculator, it wants to point me at a carbon 600 spine. Not sure as to the bow's center shot specifics, "0" or some offset one way or the other. I want to say I heard it was cut slightly past center, but I can't say as to how much. The calculator seems quite sensitive to any variables, so I'm confused. Go with the calculated 600 with 100 grain point or 500 with more point weight? Available shaft length for a given spine value seems to change accordingly. Not sure what to make of that. I suppose it you go too long or too short, spine changes dramatically; so that's why they don't even offer a lighter spine in longer lengths?
    Anyway, being a big kid impatient to play with a new toy, I shot the only feather fletched arrow I could lay my hands on (some carbon 340 with tired 5" shield feathers) and while it was quite the log, it still flew much better than expected; though it did eat the shelf pad in short order. Once the propers arrows are found, this thing could be a lot of fun!
    If anyone has some knowledge of the centershot specs or perhaps some expert arrow recommendations......PLEASE!!

      Buy a fetching jig and some feathers and refletch your arrows with feathers that's what I did it's cheaper. I just replace the feathers when needed. The fetching jig I bought is called the Arizona e-z fletch and I paid about 55$ it's easy to use and I've saved so much money fletching my arrows myself

    There's a very similar bow to this one by AF Archery and that one is at 58". The quality on the ones by AF seems OK at first glance, but I had a limb delaminate on me. I ordered this one just two days ago and hopefully it'll arrive soon. Apparently the BH by Mandarin Duck/Big Rock is a better bow.

    I have this bow, literally shot it for the first time today.
    It’s made by Junxing, but I got the rebranded “Mandarin Duck” version. Mine cost only £98 (€110.00). Direct from their website.
    So far I love it, shoots really nicely for me, didn’t take anytime at all to start hitting golds at 20 yards. I love how light it is and the grip is the nicest grip I’ve used on any bow.
    Shocking how the bow in the video wasn’t drilled correctly, I’d be demanding spare limbs from the supplier for that, then I’d drill them out when they probably don’t want them sent back.

    Greetings from Wisconsin USA;
    In 2020, I looked up the bow on Amazon and several of the reviews say that after a few hundred shots the limbs or the string break down or sometimes both. All the reviews say the bow is great when new except some had the same problem with the holes being too small. Do you still have the bow and does it still function well? I really like the look of the bow and would love one, if I can trust that it will hold up well. Oh, you measured the riser length, but even the closed captions couldn't pick up how long it was. Dear @Armin Hirmer thanks for the vis ;D I just tried out the Bearpaw Mohican 30 and 35 lbs and a Bearpow Mohawk Bow or so (in the 699EUR range) in a local shop in Berlin, Germany. Sadly in Germany it is quite hard to try out bows such as Black hunter from Jiungxing (sold via Mandarin Duck) or so. But what would you say, the very price-cheap black hunter bow vs bearpaw Mohican bows ? Also, @everyone I can draw easily 30/35lbs and hold it for 30 seconds without chaking or so. Currently I am quite weak due to an accident receovery. But I rather would like to advance quickly and train myself in form for 45lbs (my old favorite draw weight from ten years ago). But to "start again". What do you think? Bearpaw or Mandarin Duck and 35lbs or train to 40lbs

      What's your price range? The Phantom by Mandarin duck isn't bad but you're going to want to silence it little bit of cotton you can go watch the survival Lilly on a how to so that. Personally I don't like modern materials in a bow but if you're a prepper I'm assuming you're going to want fiberglass either way they tend to have a pretty good stock of left hand bows

      They limbs are cut to match the riser if you line up the top limb on the bottom of the riser you should be able to tell it doesnt line up. and the bottom limb should have writing on it.
