Almost 1 year off the road Corsa C crank no start Radio install goes WRONG

- Where do I start , this vauxhall corsa c was sent to me from another garage after they tried to fix a crank no start for around 9 months .
The vehicle was brought to me as a crank no start with very little background history but the previous garage was very confident it was an electrical issue .
I started scanning the vehicle and the 2 faults that could stop the vehicle from starting was Wrong vehicle id from body control module and wrong vehicle id from instrument cluster as they being part of the immobiliser system.
Then I've noticed that the engine light would stay on even with the ignition off and car locked up, so one evening a friend of mine came around and we started investigating the engine light issue, being a bit suspicious of the new radio and not quite fitting the radio slot very well, we decided to pull it out and found the constant power terminal 30 from the radio feeding the 12V accessory which is ignition feed terminal 15. Then we removed all the connections and the engine light went out, problem found.
Unfortunately either the body control module, instrument cluster or engine control module didn't like it because whatever I've tried to fix the wrong id from body control module and wrong id from instrument cluster didn't work. Now I don't know if feeding the ignition circuit with constant power cooked something or some bare wire shortened something up although, I didn't personally find any blown fuse which could have been found by the previous garage and replaced.
Fitting the new set of ECU , body control module, immobiliser module, instrument cluster and new key it fired up straight away , result in the end .

The back fed terminal 30 has caused the battery to discharge. If an attempt was made to start it with the battery in a discharged state normally loss of the vin/corruption occurs within one or more modules causing the no start fault.
You can restore the missing data but swapping the parts is another way of doing it. 👍
I like your theory mate , although happened in the other garage to attempt fixing the Crank no Start condition I would thought at some point they would run out of juice in the battery 👍

That was an awful lot of work for an old car like that well done though. Good call not wanting to reconnect that radio the state of that wiring 😫probably the route cause of the problem !
Tell me about it I was happy to see it go in the end and getting it to start off course ☺️, it’s probably worth around £700 so man hours would probably be half of the price of the car 😩👍 cheers
You had a CAN comms fault to the ecm with those codes logged assuming no comms fault codes in other modules, the looms under bonnet on this age GM can go bad as well as the ecm ,
CAN bus communication from ECU to BCM was present but unfortunately BCM to CLUSTER was corrupted weird signal something inside the BMC I believe crap it out 👍
@@CarsExposed Yes , didnt see all your codes in bcm , instrument cluster was communicating and no codes also abs , shows trying to diagnose with just a scantool isnt enough
All opel/vauxhall suffer from loosing the programming on the steering column control module when the battery is completely drained to 0v creating a non start condition.

100% 🤣 … I took the challenge mainly to help the other garage but it became very interesting and personal to be honest … Another thing that I forgot to add in the video I forgot the car in reverse gear once and noticed the reverse light would stay on with the car off and locked which makes sense now with the ignition being fed constant power … 👍 cheers
