I installed the very same after market radio in my corsa C, and I didn't need to mess around with any ignition source. It's working fine and keeps it's memory.
they changed them after 05
Great video, thanks for sharing with us. At the point where you connect the ignition... it's a bit "blurry", not clear what to do. All I did was just shrink the red cable, disconnect the cigarette lighter and push the red cable it into the cig lighter connection where the cables are, push it into the end where the black cable goes to and then simply reconnect the cigarette lighter. I didn't cut anything, easier to connect and it works just fine.
Sándor Füle do you just push the red wire in the black part where it connects to cigarette lighter Plzz help
Ewan Knight did you sort it in the end? Were you able to do it without cutting wires?
Was looking all over for some tips on this for my Tigra. Brilliant video and simple job to do, thank you.
Here is what he does on the 12v cigarette lighter part:
-Cut a 2 inch piece of red wire
-Cut the black wire going to the cig socket
-Twist 1 end of short red wire and 1 end of black wire together and put this into a butt connector
-Put the other bare end of black wire into the other side of the butt connector
Now you have a short piece of red wire tapped into the black wire
-Put a female spade connector on the bare end of the short red wire
-Put a female spade connector on the bare end of the long red wire
-Plug a 10amp blade fuse into these connectors
Done.
Well done that man! Done a little diagram, this is correct? i.imgur.com/rnHbLdd.jpg
Yes, The Black should be the 12v ignition power supply. ALWAYS double check with a multimeter before doing so though!
Question? When installing an after market head unit like this, does the LCDscreen above still operate, ie show radio stations, settings etc???
Hey just wondering if you have any tips on getting an aux connection or can you point me to a video that will help me
Thank u so much guys for the illustration and explaination on this vedio.
Could pls show us to open vauhall vectra cigarette socket?
Thanks guys and stay bless.
Great video!!!!
But please invest in a body trim removal tool. Seeing that flat blade screwdriver for removing the facia 👎👎
Bloody good video though.
Thank you 👍👍👍
So without steering wheel controlls u gotta get the cable underneath, and with, it just works?
I have a vauxhall corsa elegance 2003. The stereo says CDR 2005 VDO. Am i still able to change this to a different radio that allows auxillary leads the same way that you did in this video?
Disregard that comment, I found that it goes from the stereo part to the ignition, there is a spare black connector by the lighter ignition but that's not allowing my stereo to turn on, do I have to cut the red line going to the lighter and connect it to my red line. Also do I have to do anything to the brown coed
question. is there a way to retain steering wheel controls for 3rd party radio's that support such function.
is it using simple on off switches?
Hi,
Would I be able to use the steering wheel controls method regardless weather I have steering wheel controls or not? I have a 06 Corsa C with a CD30 without steering wheel controls and don't feel very confident with messing with the wires.
Thanks
I tried to do that but i just cant push radio all the way in.
Corsa C has some weird box and hard plastic or even steel behind the radio and the connector is so big that there is no free space to push it.
Maybe i need another cable that actually allows to move the "big connector" into hole there and free up the space?
And yes, i did remove the stock radio frame.
You legend! Much appreciated.
Is there any way possible to connect the radio without doing the whole cigarette lighter bit? I have read some forums and people say just swap the yellow and red wires around. Also, Why do you have to do the cigarette lighter bit?
What's the bracket that allows me to fit any stereo? The silver thing he used.
I have the same radio and car, is there anyway I can fit my new radio without having to do the part with the ignition fly lead and wiring it through the cigarette lighter. As It was very hard to follow (or see) each step in that part of the process.
just fitted a PIONEER-FH-X700BT and everything works except I get the warning beep when I turn off the ignition - same as when you leave the lights on. Does this matter, am I draining the battery. Might it be if the cigarette lighter wires are other way round? - I assumed black was correct as I don't have a voltmeter.....
you are a good professional
Great video, I just need an explanation of how to connect to the ignition as this isnt clear in the video. Cant see how the 2" of cable conects?
if i got the steering wheel adapter would i still have to mess around finding somewhere to earth the cd player? also what would happen if it wasn't earthed?
Hi great video pal. Just wondering when u pull the lighter adapter out do you have a extra wire. I have a 2006 combo and when I pulled it out there the two connected to it and another just dangling there I can't find anything to connect it to when it goes back in. Also I have used a scotch block to splice into my feed but the radio only works when the ignition is on not on number 2 or with key still in. The old cd30 still works as normal when it's plug back in. Have you seen this b4 as well.
Cheers
how does the original cd turn off when key is off. there is a white wire where the red wire was before. wiring to the cig lighter means it will only come on when ignition lights are on or engine running.
I'm using the SC-1160 and get no radio signal. Do I need to purchase a separate aerial adaptor?
Please help! I was driving today and the radio just stopped working, changed the channel, nothing. The display still shows the channel display! I checked the fuse anyway, all ok, any suggestions.....TIA
If I'm buying a stereo from halfords and they fit it do i need to buy that stereo installation kit?
Hi would this be the same procedure for a 55 plate Astra. Thanks in advance
this the same for an 08 plate corsa life 1.2... and what cheap stereo/radio do you recommend for aux ?
I have same car i messed up left fan on top of the radio by pushing in the vent satnav holder. Can you please help how to open it?
Will doing it this way mean the steering wheel controls will still work?
If you buy this www.justaudioshop.com/SC-1160--Vauxhall-2-Digit-2005-Onwards-Steering-Control-Adaptor-Vauxhall-Agila-Astra-Corsa-Meriva-Vectra-Zafira_p_112.html
Why did you connect it with cigrate?
To black color cable you connect it yeah?
Reply ASAP please.
You connect it to a power source that becomes live when the ignition key is turned - always make sure that you check before you cut!
Wouldn't a fuse tap to the 'radio' fuse, or even to the 'ignition switch' fuse, be better than a cutting and crimping the cigarette lighter connection?
Just a quick question here something I can't seem to find on google.
We have a dutch Opel combo 1.7CTDI, with a Blaupunkt mp30 radio. I wonder if the Opel cross and the opel combo have the same interface? and if so can I use this kit in my Opel combo to control my pioneer SPH-120? I know I can program the controls on the SPH, I just can't figure out how to convert the steering wheel controls to my pioneer... note I would still like to see the time and date on my original LCD display..... Even the opel forum wasn't able to help me. Thanks for helping me out!:D
Hi mate I have an 06 corsa sxi and wanting to put In a new stereo to be able to connect my phone etc but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. What the easiest method and am I still able to use the ciggy lighter? Cheers

Double Din Kit: www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Double-Din-Kit_p_107.html

Either or the top two kits, depending if you want single din or double din - these you will have to cut and crimp the wiring. If you choose to gain steering controls, purchase the bottom aswell, YOU WILL NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THEN PUSH TOGETHER THE BLOCK IF YOU BUY THIS **RECOMMENDED**
I am thinking about doing this to my corsa c 2006. It has the CD30 installed so i will have to connect it to a ignition power source. This, like a few other people, is concerning me. I would like to just ask:
If i purchase the single din kit with the audio control add on, so my controls on my wheel still work, will i need do do the whole cutting wires thing?Because if i can avoid all that because it gains power via the audio controls i would defiantly purchase the kits.
Seconldly, if the answer to the above question is no, and i do in fact have to still connect to the cigarette lighters power source. could you be so kind to do a tutorial on that bit only? This would help me greatly because i kinda see what your doing there... but i want to have total confidence when it comes to cutting wires and messing with my electrics. Cheers. Hope you answer my questions soon, Josh.
If you buy steering controls, you wont need to do the ignition cable wiring: www.justaudioshop.com/SC-1160--Vauxhall-2-Digit-2005-Onwards-Steering-Control-Adaptor-Vauxhall-Agila-Astra-Corsa-Meriva-Vectra-Zafira_p_112.html
How much would it cost to have this done?
Surely there must be a way to fit without clipping wires? I have one which has the steering wheel stalk on and didn't need to clip any wires. Why is that ok on mine but this harness without the steering wheel you have to link to cigarette lighter. doesn't make sense to me so please can you advise?
I am using the following in mine which didn't need clipping:
CTSVX002
Kind Regards
The steering controls system draws an ignition 12v, when its not used you need to implement a 12v ignition source.
thanks for your last comment.
what kind of fuse do you use and where to get it from?
to which color of wire do you connect it?
10amp, and check which one is ignition live with a multimeter, normally its black.
Can't you do it with out wiring it up to the cig lighter? I've seen people do it without it
I'm looking at doing this but I was wondering whether the cars main screen still tells you the information of radio?
No it wont..
Will this work for a vuaxhall astra 2005? I bought a aftermarket kit and need bit more explanation
i need to do this at weekend for a cd30 in a vauxhall. what type of fuse do i need for stereo?
10 amp should do.
Is the Corsa C Exclusiv CD30 a 26 way ISO connection?
This kit required: www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Stereo-Installation-Set_p_85.html
id like to to know how to add an aux input to a cd30 mp3 and with what adapter?
If the car has steering wheel controls would the cables for that be in the back of the stereo (i know i need a vauxhall adapter and compatible head unit) and does it change anything else in regards to installation?
Thanks
You will need a separate kit - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-Astra-Corsa-Tigra-Steering-Wheel-Stalk-Control-Adaptor-Lead-CTSVX002-/350517857215
These always retail for around £34.. or you can get our kit, which includes everything you need (but wont give you steering controls) www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Stereo-Installation-Set_p_85.html for £34.99 but this gives you everything not just a cable.
what would the cost to install be?
Hi, I have a Corsa D 2010(55 plate) with the CD30 Radio, I would like to change it with a Sony WX-GT90BT 2 Din Bluetooth CD/MP3 Player, this is steering wheel control ready, and I would like to of course use my steering wheel controls with it. Could you please recommend which cables/adapters and fascia kits I would require.
Thanks
Hi,
Single Din Kit: www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Stereo-Installation-Set_p_85.html
Double Din Kit: www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Double-Din-Kit_p_107.html
these don't come with steering controls though.
If you're just after the steering wheel controls they are here:

However, If you want both together, email me on peter.watson@justsimpletips.com and create a kit for you.
hi i got Corsa C 2002 and the sterring wheel control radio unit is CDR 2005 VDO did i can atach a duble din unit for it Sony WX-GT90BT Double Din Car CD MP3 Stereo Bluetooth USB and what kit i need if it will be still possible to fit in?
Hi this kit would be fine - www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2000-2005--Double-Din-Kit_p_108.html
Hello I have a Vauxhall astra 2007, I am just wondering if that I still need to wire the red wire in the same place as this video, in halfords they told me to wire it into the heating matrix into one of the red wires but it's like 3 wires and don't fancie striping them wires thanks
Hi Jack,You can wire it to there if you wish - The reason we choose the cigarette lighter is because if something was to go round with the circuit then you would rather the cigarette lighter to fuse than the heating in the car. Plus the cigarette lighter is easier to access.
The lighter socket is on even when my keys are not in the car, if that is fine then what wire red or brown ?
Thats not correct, you will have to link it to an ignition power source, we recommend pulling it directly from a fuse using an Igni-Gen
It is correct i have a phone charger pluged into it and when i aint got n'y keys in the ignituon n'y phone atoll chargés, i do mot no eBay els ti wire off thanks
Am i OK to cut directly into the cigarette lighter power cable or do I need to disconnect from the battery?
Hi do not cut both wires that supply the power to the cigarette lighter as u will couse a short circuit! ! SO just cut the wire that is the positive one and then u need to connect a fuse to protect the circuit incase of any issues. Unfortunately I can not upload a picture of actually how it need to be be done.
Started off simple, pretty much how I did it on my old car, then when you started stripping wires and stuff you lost me
sitwell11
1. The (red) live feed from the CD player is cut to make a second short wire
2. The larger red wire is striped and the short red wire is striped at both ends
3. You then use a (female spade terminal connector) at each end of both wires and connect the two wires in series using a fuse (Possibly a 20 Amp car fuse) Should be yellow.
4. You then connect a (spade terminal piggy back connector) at the other end of the short red wire.
5. You then disconnect the red wire (positive) from the back of the cigarette lighter and connect it to the male part of the spade piggy back terminal (which you just connected to the short end of the red wire in the previous step)
6. You then connect the female part of the (spade piggy back connector) to the male spade connector on the back of the cigarette lighter (where the red wire was originally connected to the cigarette lighter)
Your power supply comes from the red wire that was originally connected to the back of the cigarette lighter in order for your CD player and cigarette lighter to both work you need to make sure they are both connected to the power supply or live feed.
Make sure you use the blue connectors so that the prongs/terminals from the fuse and cigarette lighter can be slotted into the connectors and be fitted securely.
Thanks, got mine done now but that info should be useful to other people having the same problem.
Shayek Miah can you make a video of this. writing doesn’t explain shit
i have 09 Vauxhall astra with CD 30 cd system and wants to fit a pioneer double din in its place. Could you please tell me which fascia kit i need and is there any change in the installation process? thanks
Yes, No Problem, We supply all parts. Email us at Help@JustSimpleTips.com and we can sort everything for you.
would this be the same on a Vauxhall Vectra 2007 cdti ?
what amp value is that fuse?
I did everything as in this tutorial. Unfortunately my aftermarket Pioneer MVH-1400UB keeps restarting Car stereo glitch . I don't even know why :v
Responded on your video for you. :)
Tanks
***** , What would happen if i didn't hook up the red wire to the ignition source?
Would the stereo not power on, or would it only power when the engine is running?
Also, can I just leave the orange cable exposed (I'm no electrician so no idea how safe that is)
Thanks
Without the ignition (Red) connected the radio will never turn on. Leaving Orange is fine.
If you don't want to mess about with the ignition you can buy this adaptor for steering controls and it brings the power through the cambus system: www.justaudioshop.com/SC-1160--Vauxhall-2-Digit-2005-Onwards-Steering-Control-Adaptor-Vauxhall-Agila-Astra-Corsa-Meriva-Vectra-Zafira_p_112.html
JustSimpleTips so with the adapter that we can purchase for the steering controls do you literally just plug the quad end into the cars original stereo cables and then the other into the new stereo, on the picture there is a third part of the cable does that have to be connected to anything or just left there?
JustSimpleTips where to put the illumination wire if i want illumination to work?
what lead do i need for a 4 diget
Some my radio, now I have no clock, except when lights are on
Hello. CD30 MP3 is COMPATIBLE with my Opel Corsa C, from 2003? Thanks.
Nope, Different connections.
Which one do i need for my astra opc 2009?
Yes, use this. www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Stereo-Installation-Set_p_85.html
your steering wheel is on the wrong side 😂😂
it looks like i have bought this kit www.justaudioshop.com/Vauxhall-2005-Onwards--Stereo-Installation-Set_p_85.html but do i need extra for steering wheel control?
Can someone make a video on how to do the whole cigarette lighter thing?
i.imgur.com/rnHbLdd.jpg
lets check to see if the radio work... ergh argh its been a few years since ive nicked lool
The cigarette lighter in my corsa is in a different place. It's higher up, underneath the climate controls. It doesn't come out - help!
how did you solve this, i have the same problem
this is not a novice job
I stand corrected I fitted a jvc kw-r510 in my corsa d
10 amp should be fine.
Can you come and install this for me if i pay you pls?
that won't work on my Vauxhall van since the cigarette lighter is on all the time
That would take me hours and hours,. I leave it
Everything here is great until the cigarette lighter part... I dont have a feckin clue what your doing or talking about.. lol.. Sorry its looked so simple until then too ha
A helpful video, thanks guys. Although a 'close up' when you're cutting the ignition and attaching the fuse would be helpful for us novices!! :)
Why did you connect it with cigrate?
To black color cable you connect it yeah?
Reply ASAP please.
What the hell? The only part of the video that's of interest is completely unintelligible??!!??
Nice and clear for the most part but yeah I just can't seem follow what you're doing with those cigarette lighter wires lol.
+David Devaney Exactly the same here mate. I was quite proud following it up to that point, then....WTF???? Huh???
Totally missed the rest.
Black 12v ocket wire is pos
Not that anyone is interested but I fitted mine, never needed a cigarette connection, just replaced the old one with the new one. However! Vauxhall in ALL their wisdom FORCE you to buy a converter connector because they do not support ISO as standard even though ISO stands for International Standards Organisation! Still I works and I could have avoided the whole connector by simply barrier blocking each lead from the data & power supply to the stereo, but that would have been a LONG mission! So for £10 from Amazon I an't complaining, just for everyone's information here, the replacing of the new facia is a bit of a bitch to go back in and does go in but requires a proper sssqqquuuueeezze!
JustSimpleTips if i don't have steering controls on my corsa d 2007. do i still have to do the stuff with the cigarette lighter?
What the fuck does he do at the cigarrette lighter part. Cant see shit
How do I know if it needs to be wired to the cigarette thing or not? Cant I just use the cable converter that came with my Pioneer and plug it in?
I can't see a thing you are doing with the cigarette lighter socket. Also can you show on corsa d 2009. As I have an active model
Will the radio work without the red cable going to the cigarette lighter? As I dont want to be cutting cables. Thanks
sorry to ask the obvious but that audio part where you explain what wire adapter i need is a bit fuzzy. what wire connection do i need to change it over , did you say it was a pt2044???
cheers
After 2005 - AH4-185-8
Before 2005 - AH4-104-8
thanks very much!!!
REMEMBER TO CHECK IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT WIRE! MY IGNITION WAS BROWN AND EARTH WAS BLACK UNLIKE IN THE VIDEO ABOVE!
I know this video is old but im looking for some advice..
My son just bought an android head unit for his corsa but doesn't work when plugged in? Ive tried it in my van and it works?? The only thing we didn't do is connet the wire to the ignition source (cigarette lighter) is this essential for it to work.
Thanks
I have a 2006 corsa sxi plus and i want to put a JVC KD-R531 into it and be able to control it from the buttons on the steering wheel if i get this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-Astra-Corsa-Tigra-Steering-Wheel-Stalk-Control-Adaptor-Lead-CTSVX002-/350517857215 will it elimination the need to run a feed from the ignition and will i be able to use the steering wheel controls? thanks
Hey may I ask you about how to reset my Opel Corsa radio system ? For I lost the code and the Opel company does not have it either 🙏🏻☺️
Why didn't they have the ignition built into the iso like other cars what a mess around wanted to change my head unit don't think I'll bother now
My cigarette lighter is in a different place! Is it removed in the same way and will the wiring still be the same as in video?
My radio and Aircon for this car is not working, what could be the problem??
will a normal 7 inch touch screen stereo fit into this if i put a double din panel around it?
Hi Jeremy,
I spoke to our technician, Yes, If you use steering controls it generates a supply from the canbus system :)
hi i was wondering if you could help me i bought an Xtrons radio trying to fit it to my Astra 07 but instead of a ignition fly lead it has several cables which Im told one of them will be that they are labeled but Im not sure which would be it there is 2 brown labeled "brake in", a blue/white one labeled "amp con", a dark blue one labeled "ant", a green one labeled "key1 5v and a orange one labeled "key2 5v" any idea which one it could be
Y a pas un tuto en francais Opel corsa cosmo 2005 ???? In french ???
I have done exactly as above stereo works fine, but it doesn't save radio stations... could I add a direct feed from battery? the wiring on mine had been bodged, so the original connect had been cut off so it was a guessing game. At the moment I have (red from stereo to cig lighter and Yellow from stereo to thin red car wiring) the wires like this is the only way the stereo works! Confused
The trick of the cigarette lighter solve my problems!
Thanks.
I followed these steps however my radio won't work, it tries to find a singnal however I can't. I've got a vauxhall corsa 2006 and what does the blue wire do in the radio adapter and does it have a specific place to plug into
hello
this is great stuff.
i have a vauxhall corsa 1.2 2006.
the headunit remains on while ignition is off. ive only bought the car couple days ago. the previous owner had removed fuse 12. do u know what could be the cause of this problem. the headunit randonlmly turns on while ignition is off. sometimes goes to fm radio when cd is playing. or goes to mute.
