15:43 No, you don't control the gearbox from the screen. 17:50 No, Autopilot is not a $10k option. Autopilot is standard even on the cheapest models. FSD is $10k and it isn't available yet to the public so if you tested it you should know you tested the beta version. Not a hater - you are just wrong.
The problem is that the Model S Plaid is really boring despite it being fast. As an owner of a Model 3 performance for nearly 3yrs now, I can tell you that nobody really needs faster than 3sec 0-60mph. In fact, it just starts to get too fast beyond 2.5sec as Ludicrous+ showed. So then why is this "marvel" worth $140-150,000? It's worse in so many ways than rivals as a car beyond that. I'm beyond disappointed with the new Model S. I've been waiting close to 3yrs to upgrade, but it's so boring an uninspiring - particularly the old fashioned exterior that reeks of 2016 - that I'm simply sticking with my Model 3 Performance. I'm an EV enthusiast above all, so will see what Lucid and others deploy in the next 18mths, because this dull car is not enough to tempt me to spend $150k even though I have it for the right car.
@@Libertas_P77 That's fair. So if Lucid is able to get their car out and you can buy one (not sure when?) you're not going to to for the top one, since it's too fast, right? (By the way, my car does 0-60 in about 10 sec and it's not a big problem. Of course I'd be happy with a long range Model 3 that does it in 5 sec or so, which is faster than Testarossa just a generation ago. I'm sure the Testarossa handles better. In general cars are way faster than they need to be. But the Model Plaid showed that fast cars don't have to be gas powered. In fact, electric cars, with the right technology (i.e. Model Plaid technology) can be "mind bendingly fast" It's easy to detune that technology, but other manufacturers can't as easily "uptune" their vehicles. "Performance" is very much the selling point of the Porsche brand. Would you be happy with a $150,000 Taycan? I'm not sure which trim level that would get you, but not the top one, I assume. I guess that one doesn't have too much range and isn't too fast, and doesn't have the rear legroom or trunk space which are all wasted. But does it have what you want?
Came here to say this, it’s factually incorrect in the video. AP comes with the car. Full-Self Driving is a $10k option, isn’t released yet. He never said that he didn't see 98% of cars driving around that are ICE he just said that there is a high adoption of electric vehicles. Also can i just clarify that the "world" is not the US, if you want to see other markets i suggest looking at europe and china where the EV market is growing brilliantly, in 2020 11.4% of all NEW car registrations are plug in electric (not including the other EV's. The united states is one of the smallest electric vehicle market compared to europe and china, so i wouldn't base all your "facts" there), and also the Year on Year change of just plug in EV registrations is growing by 137% in Europe, and EVs make up for around 20% of all cars in Europe. Also analysts (far more qualified than all of us) have predicted that the EV market (in the world) will rise to 30% of all cars by 2030. Basically, in all advanced markets the Year on Year increase in EV's is pretty high (and it is an increase) so people do want electric vehicles.
@Catholic Firefighter guess you are going to use this dumb argument all the way till 51% market share huh? Smart phones were once at 2% marketshare..just like every new product ever introduced in existence.
The car comes with Autopilot for free, it's the FSD that costs $10000. He didn't mention which one this car was equipped with. He also seems to be unaware of the FSD beta that is being tested right now and soon to be released. He also didn't seem to be aware that people looking to buy a performance car would actually want performance.
That is true, but it is also true that anyone who paid $10k 2 years ago or $7500 5 years ago got ripped off. They were promised it would be available by now. I bought my Model S used and it came with FSD. I'm not sure how much it actually cost me because it was included. I assume I paid less than $10k, because other used Teslas without FSD weren't much cheaper and they had more miles. Face it, the vast majority of Tesla Plaid buyers get them for one thing....they are the fastest cars on the planet (a caveat here that I should mention is other European cars that come fairly close to the Plaids performance usually cost at least double the Plaids base price, and the Rimac Nevera, which is about a half second faster than a Plaid, last week was certified legal for all countries safety requirements, will only have 150 models made and costs $2,400,000 before options!) that you can buy from a manufacturer that you don't have to spend an additional $20-$30K to modify them to still be slower than a S Plaid. AND for you folks that agree and have interest in speed rather than how far we can go on a charge, or how much your Teslas will be worth 3 years from now, or the minor fit and finish issues that are always mentioned by Tesla haters, and are usually taken care by Tesla when mentioned when you buy this Model, this will be right up your alley! The TOP LINE Lucid Air offers 1,111HP, while the Plaid offers a supposedly 1,020HP, BUT there is a UA-cam video that has a Plaid on a 4 hub dyno that develops 1,101HP STOCK from the factory. The Plaid also weighs approximately 400 pounds LESS than the Lucid Air, and averages between $20,000 to $30,000 Less than the advertised $179,900 than the Lucid costs DEPENDING ON OPTIONS CHOSEN for each car. Last month a Tesla Model S Plaid in Napierville, Quebec set the new record for the fastest quarter-mile time for the electric sedan at 8.83 seconds and 161mph. The Model S had a stripped out interior for weight savings, as well as SV104 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag radials at the rear and Michelin PS4 tires on the front. Not content with the blistering fast time, the same Model S Plaid has set a new record this week. At the same track in Napierville the Model S crossed the line in just 8.77 seconds at 162.55mph (261.60km/h), a 5.67 second 1/8 mile time and an outstanding 125MPH to 162MPH time in 3.1 seconds!!! As for what changed that allowed the car to go faster this time the owner, TMC user mulot30th, said there was an additional 60lb weight saving over the previous attempt due to someone else being behind the wheel on the run. Additionally he said there a slight change to the suspension. “Main change is suspension geometry change (slight) which reduce “tire drag” a little bit at least that is what I intended to do with that and have worked,” he said. Interestingly, the top speed at the end of his quarter mile run of 162.55mph is inches away from the electronically limited top speed (when not in Track Mode) of 163mph. As first told earlier this week, Quebec-based Ingenext was able to hack their way past that limiter and reached a top speed of 216mph (347km/h). As for this Model S Plaid, the owner says that while the car does not feel like it is slowing down when crossing the line, he feels there is not much room to improve beyond 8.77s with the current setup, but a BIG brake option available from Tesla and several other Tesla specific after market parts dealers at a much reduced price, and TOP OF THE LINE HIGH SPEED RATED STREET TIRES should also be used! You can check out the record runs both of TOP SPEED and FASTEST QUARTER MILE time on several UA-cam 9

This is such a stupid review. Basically, full of silly complaints and whining while ignoring the major fact that this car is faster than any car EVER in the history of cars. The speaker seems to have a chip on his shoulder about Tesla in general, which isn't lost on anyone as he never looses a chance to down them...but on the other end simply glosses over the major performance aspects of this car. The whole review comes out sounding silly in the end and everyone can easily see this is a totally biased review.
No matter what iteration, the S is still the best EV available today, even after 9 years on the market. It also seemed to work okay for setting a new record around the Nurnburgring, complete with yoke and only being good for drag racing......maybe you should find a job you are better at? Oh, and by the way; autopilot is standard on the Plaid.
If u saw the difference in build quality you'd know. Gorgeous interiors with actual leather, not fake pleather made from plants. Hand built. Not by drunken teenagers either.
To me, I feel like Tesla is trying to be like Apple, eliminate certain functionality and replace them with a new technology. For example, the removal of headphone jack. But what Apple did right was, the replacement was actually forward thinking. Cars are not smartphones or computers, when you're driving on the road, safety should be your number one priority and I don't think Tesla thought about that before replacing a normal steering wheel and basic functions like horn, blinkers and wipers with garbage. I love everything about the Model S but steering wheel and the soft buttons suck. At least they should have been an option for a standard steering for those that doesn't like the yoke. A lot of people will get into trouble because of the steering wheel alone.
Agreed overall. However, those other super cars have WAAAAAY better building and material quality. They also have a much nicer interior. That said, none of these super cars are worth the price to me. As alluded to in the video, it's alll about bragging rights for rich folks.

This review is terrible shit payed for by legacy auto makers. It has more dislikes than likes for a reason.
Every time I have met someone named Edmunds, I have been terribly disappointed. This guy is no exception.
Guarantee you’ve never met anyone from Edmunds. Comment section is gold lol.
very quietly glossed over the EPA range figure. Impressive for the fastest production car ever made.
less than 1% off and they didnt even drive it till it stopped. theres a reserve of 5-15 miles once you hit "0 miles remaining" which they even know cuz tesla responded to edmunds after model y review pointing this out, and in edmunds own new tests they exceeded EPA range by driving until the car stopped, on each tesla model. then back tracked to the old method for Plaid. oh and model y range test they started the test with 90% charge.... also he says auto pilot is garbage, i have basic auto pilot on my MD3 and its never done something incorrect, it drives very smooth too. WHY?! ICE manufacturures own edmunds.
Not really that impressive. The Lucid Air got 505 miles of real world range, which makes thr Plaid's 345 seem rather sad.
Lol we all know by now edmunds credibility has long gone (we haven't forgotten about the fudged range tests), but this is about as obvious as it gets.
Do better.
Dumbest quote EVER:
"I can't really see in the real world what it delivers over the Model S extended range". LMAO!
Well, how about the Supercar performance you've been so stunned by, and for a mere $40k more, not the millions more that an ICE Supercar would cost? Lol
So stupid it's difficult to believe my ears! Wow!!!
Supercar? You mean $3M hypercar performance.
It can only go fast in a straight line. Super cars can do more
@@Cal3000 maybe watch Randy Pobst absolutely DESTROY Pikes Peak in a Plaid and say it doesn't corner. The ignorance of ICE cultists.

Fair review. Pros and cons.

People get into trouble in EVERY car.
Ive never seen some try to so hard to hate on tesla and the fastest car they have ever driven lol
Haters gonna hate. Name me a car with better performance that has the same price tag.
performance or acceleration? maybe acceleration, definitely not performance
@@jackrosen1433 Acceleration is part of the performance metrics. Still, for the Model S price tag, you can't find mass produced car that has better PEFORMANCE.
whoever wants bragging rights on owning one of the fastest cars, can buy the the car. Not worry about interior luxury or build quality etc. for all others I think model s long range is pretty amazing. That is sufficient for most
If you are just looking for "sufficient" then yes, you should not be paying a premium for a supercar.
But there are some people out there looking for a supercar and may be willing to play a million dollars for the experience at 3:35
@Bish Bash Bosh Billionaires or multi millionaires who are willing to drop a million dollars for a Bulgatti may not be willing to go thru the modding process.
Or you can get the Tesla Plaid for a tenth of that
When the worst thing you can say about a car is its too fast, that's when you know its special
Why would a car need 1k+ hp? This applies to literally every car with 500+ hp. It's not needed, but it's badass. Plus, that's part of the luxury of the car. I can't wait for you guys to review the roadster and call it boring while accelerating and being lifted from the road.
Dude went full 🤡 mode for this review
Edmonds showing they know nothing about cars, calling a joke and a waste of money the car that has set a record at the Nurburgring. And it's a family four door sedan priced accordingly.
Edmonds are the joke.
Just like that, all of Edmunds credibility went out the window. Lmfao look at the up to down votes🥴
What credibility?

No matter what iteration, the S is still the best EV available today, even after 9 years on the market. It also seemed to work okay for setting a new record around the Nurnburgring, complete with yoke and only being good for drag racing......maybe you should find a job you are better at?
Oh, and by the way; autopilot is standard on the Plaid.
the mercedes eqs is a far better vehicle
PLaid is waste of money - and Bugatti completely worth ? show a car that does 0-60 in2.X seconds and cost 130K .

No. That car makes little sense either unless you're collecting 😉
If u saw the difference in build quality you'd know. Gorgeous interiors with actual leather, not fake pleather made from plants. Hand built. Not by drunken teenagers either.
@@tone7560 tesla has better build quality, its warranty is longer and actually built to get used as a daily.
When you're saying the opposite of people who actually own this car, you may want to review your review.
Underrated comment!
Umm just watched video of fastest car by Edmonds now it's not worth it 120k ? But those million dollars cars are? They just playing around.
There’s a lot more to super cars than straight line speed
Agreed overall. However, those other super cars have WAAAAAY better building and material quality. They also have a much nicer interior. That said, none of these super cars are worth the price to me. As alluded to in the video, it's alll about bragging rights for rich folks.
Well scripted negativity by the British bloke.
The real one trick pony is Edmunds, accelerating into mediocracy faster than a Plaid Model S.
