- Marcy retires after collecting over $16,000 on her Match Game appearances.
Nipsey Russell, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Patty Duke Astin, Richard Dawson, and Betty White
Hearing them talk about their brand-new movies that weren't even released yet and those films were already old and forgotten way back in my 80s youth really blows my mind.
I can't follow ya.
"Don't ask questions, it'll only get you in trouble." Brett could come up with good ones.
I love Brett’s laughing it makes my heart sing and she says I don’t care when she says i don’t care I’m a heiress and I’m a rich person
That Doris is a hoot!
I'm sure her husband didn't appreciate her flirting with Gene.
She’s a real tough cookie. Probably had to be, running a Mexican “wrist-runt”.
@@pencils812you take this show too seriously sometimes.
Marci was a really fun contestant. They needed more like her.
H/H match update:
...
~~~Today's action:
Well, if you somehow happened to avoid the spoilerish title of this video, our four-game champion ws defeated today. Ironically, it was Richard cast in the role of "villainess" today, with his "Fingers" sealing our champion's defeat. (Even had he matched, it would only have delayed the inevitable as Betty also wrote "Fingers.") I say ironic, because Richard matched the contestant all four times (!) that they played the head-to-head together, helping her earn a notable $16,900.
*Today's audience match question: "Candlestick________"*
(My thoughts: Park, holder, ???) - I swear, the past several days, these A.M. questions have been pretty hard!
The celebs: Patty (Park), Richard (Holder), Betty (Maker)
The choice: Park (I'm a little surprised. I thought of Candlestick Park because I lived not too far from there years ago. I wasn't sure if it would be so well-known as to be top of mind to people outside the Bay Area.)
The answers: Holder, Park, Maker - Kudos to Betty for getting the top answer in third position!
New champ, new celeb? I kinda doubt it. Richard seems to be ingrained in everyone's head as the go-to guy for the H/H, even though his success rate is lower than his peers'. Although, Richard's recent terrific winning streak is putting Brett's edge in overall accuracy in peril!
No surprises. This makes King Richard's ninth consecutive play at the head-to-head, and he's played 42 of the past 44 questions.
As I just mentioned, Richard is definitely enjoying a hot streak lately! In fact, he's matched his last six consecutive attempts! If he matches again today, he will tie his record of seven consecutive questions (achieved in episodes 929-937). But to be fair, he's also missed seven in a row a few times (845-856 and again in 962-967), not to mention his first eight consecutive H/H questions.
Stats: Richard has matched 108 of his 248 most recent attempts (43.5%), 47 of his last 108 attempts (43.5%), and 28 of his last 64 attempts (43.8%). His overall success rate is *42.2%* and this is his 726th attempt so far.
For the sake of comparison: Betty has matched 19 of her 38 attempts (50.0%), Charles has matched 33 of his 69 attempts (47.8%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 306 of his 725 attempts (42.2%). Nipsey has answered eight questions without yet matching, and Patty Duke Astin has answered two without yet matching.
*Today's H/H question: "________Filter"*
(Coffee. I think Richard stands a good chance of extending his streak today!)
Richard finishes an answer that looks about the length of "Coffee," but he pauses, looking at Betty and Patty, and seems to have second thoughts. "Always go with your first thought" may be the common refrain, but today Richard seems to abandon that philosophy as he writes a second response which he files. (What other good answer is there? Water filter? Did people have those back then?)
Our champion gives her debut H/H answer: "Oil." Yeah. That does make sense. I think it's a good answer, but I also think what Richard wrote was longer than that (although I've been wrong before). The audience offers a subdued round of applause. Richard's expression is in poker-face mode. The contestant tells Gene her alternate choice was "Coffee" filter. The way I look at it, since she said she owned/ran a restaurant, "coffee" filter would be the natural answer for Richard to think of. Let's see...
(Someone in the audience yells out "cigarette" - another answer that hadn't occurred to me.)
Oh, no. Richard says he wrote "Coffee" first, but then changed it to.... "Cigarette."
No H/H match today.
~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
(An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
(For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts).
Charles - 47.8% (33 wins in 69 attempts).
Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts).
Richard - 42.1% (306 wins in 726 attempts).
Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
*These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1082, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)
"As you can see, she has a beautiful cardiovascular system"....lol.
She didn't even flinch when he said that.
8:16 It turns out Brett and Jack really were divorced in 1977, making their 1978 "comeback" even wackier.
Patty 's retort to Brett's alimony crack was priceless, Mark
Jack said they never legally divorced
So maybe she was telling the truth about not taking alimony from him. He wouldn't have liked her very much if she did.
nipsy matches the hardest answers
Beth is so pretty! Love those cheekbones!
I thought wrecking ball was the only answer
Exactly
Yea, that was odd.
How about "His own head"?
ME, too... 🤷♀️
Doris reminds me of great character actress Rita Shaw!!!
Marcy and 3 of her family appeared on an episode of Dawson's one-season return to Family Feud in 1994. ua-cam.com/video/ZP5CBjJYKHg/v-deo.html
Oh awesome
@@FerintoshFarmsPhotography Or maybe DAWSON.
Boo, hiss, we hate puns. LOL!
Getting beat isn't the same as "retiring."
I agree
I've seen both movies.
I had a better answer for the Popeye/Olive Oil question……………..nobody thought of it!!🤣🤣
One wonders how Marcy is doing today....
Sadly she past away on the 7 Jan 2019.
Here comes Linda Carter lookalike! 😊
Betty White is the only one who is still alive
I was just thinking this.
Not anymore.

16:10 Chiiickennnnn!!!!! ( A little Family Feud Canada joke ).
19:10 That was the first movie I ever saw in a theater. It was just called 'Swarm'. Made all of us terrified of bees that summer and for the rest of our lives.
19:19 All of a sudden a 20 piece mariachi band shows up.
She's a delight
Coffee would be the best, but she still wouldn't have matched.
Richard often says he considers the contestant when he chooses his answer, so I thought "Coffee" would be a no-brainer given the contestant twice mentioned owning/operating a restaurant. Strangely, neither one of them said it though...

Cubed or ground?
Cubed beef in chili sounds awful
I beg your pardon?!
I guess I've been used the wrong king of meat in my chili. I always use hamburger, you don't cube that. What kind of beef are they using?
Gene pronounces restaurant "rest-RUNT"
Yah, I’ve noticed that. To me it sounds like “WRIST-runt”. Maybe it’s a Midwest thing?
"Eye to eye" combat.
Betty White grates on my last nerve.
11:27 😂
That was pretty rude of Betty to make that comment about women choosing Richard. Her jealousy really showed.
Oh please it was just a light hearted joke on the spot. Get a grip.
Richard and Betty got along irl. She was just teasing. Now if Brett or Charles had done so then I would've viewed it as possible jealousy since they were the regulars.
Relax
It would be nice to see others get chosen, as sometimes happens.
It was quite obvious to me that Richard and Betty were gettin' down behind the scenes. They were really the ones at the motel in Encino 😮
Free spirit flying! ;0)
Seriously, you need to go back and take out all the parentheticals that RUIN THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME!!!
And yet your commenting & watching these episodes anyway
@@patcrites5274 Hey, I love this channel and appreciate all the work that goes into it, but that would be my one complaint too; unmissable spoilers right there in the titles are kind of a bummer
Who quit watching after Marcy lost?
Has anyone seen the episode that Betty is talking about at the end of the video at 2:50?
